Fantastic experience: My trip with Seastar was a life long dream come true. They made our day at the reef a delight. Our group was only 13 people and they had at six staff on board. We all were able to get personal attention if needed. They welcomed us with a warm drink and muffin. They took great care to explain what our day would be like. They continued to check in with us all day long to see how we were doing and answer any questions we had. They assisted with the complicated process of putting on our stinger suits and gear. It’s the first time anyone has offered my husband Vaseline to make sure his mask has a good seal over his beard. We didn’t even know that was a remedy to him always getting water in his mask. Lunch was fabulous! There was so much! It was a variety of salads, meats and bread. So gluten free and vegetarians had options. We loved seeing the birds on the cay and starting our snorkel adventure there. Adrianna and Tim answered so many questions for us. The second stop had many many fish and our guides made sure to point out things we may have missed. BTW, there is no extra fee to having a guide in the water with you telling you what you could see below. They also pulled you around on a life ring when you were too tired to keep swimming if needed. They took photos of everyone and didn’t charge extra for those pictures either. Check out their FB page for examples. You have many options when going out to the reef. Consider Seastar if you want to have fun and be individually cared for and not just a number on a list.

Fantastic experience: Overall great experience. Wish we could have done diving at the 2nd location, but we were flying out the next day and knew we couldn't. Thankful for the opportunity to do an intro dive at such a unique location (versus having to do it in a swimming pool)! Saw all kinds of wildlife. My only negative comment. Just after launch, they have you all gather in the main area of the boat for a presentation on the day. Knowing this particular day was quite rough seas, it set several of us up for a pretty terrible day of sea sickness, despite taking meds. I would have rather had all the talks at the dock and then been able to sit where it was most comfortable for preventing sickness. The crew were super awesome and took care of us all. Great job!

Great connectivity, staff outstanding (personable, paying attention to customers needs, very organized, processional and efficient but not rushing whatsoever) !!! Adequate equipment available for snorkeling and diving, restrooms very clean, boat well maintained!!! 2 different sites for reef exploration and 2 guided snorkeling sessions!! Just a pleasure to spend time with the crew.

We had such a warm welcome on the boat and received detailed information for both snorkeling and diving, and the crew always double-checked our understanding of the instructions. Food was really good and abundant. We had two fantastic snorkeling guides showing us around. We received all the support we needed to enjoy this experience, especially if first-timers. It was a pleasure to see such a young and motivated crew from different countries prepare the boat and take care of all of us with great expertise and confidence. Fantastic experience: We had the best day out on Seastar. The day was extremely well run and they have high staff to passenger ratios. The staff were all amazing, always friendly and happy to help. We had Courtney as our dive guide and she was perfect! They have a large variety of equipment sizes, even for kids. I couldn't fault anything about our day, 10/10 I can't wait to go again!

The staff were so friendly, knowledgeable, experienced and couldn’t do enough for everyone. The boat was clean and comfortable and wasn’t packed with loads of people so there was plenty of space to enjoy a gorgeous day on the reef. Cant recommend Seastar enough!

Fantastic experience: It was absolutely incredible! The tour, the crew, and the reef were all beyond my expectations. The staff on board were so welcoming and attentive, making sure we were well taken care of. Everything was included (except diving, which comes at an extra cost, but that's totally normal). While snorkeling, we had a guide showing us around, but if you wanted to explore on your own, that was totally fine too. The freedom was great! We also stayed at the snorkeling spot for a really long time, which made the experience even better. They really paid attention to everyone, and their support was amazing, especially when I felt nervous. I don't regret a single moment! Honestly, I could go on this tour over and over again. It’s a family-run cruise, and you can truly feel the warmth and personal touch. They even took pictures for us, which was such a cool bonus! Overall, it was such a fantastic experience! (I have put some pictures taken from them during the tour!)

Fantastic experience: Excellent family-run business that really cares about giving you a great snorkel/dive experience on the Great Barrier Reef accessible from Cairns. This is the second time we’ve selected them and they don’t disappoint. They run a safe boat with an attentive crew and all the kit (masks, wetsuits, stinger suits etc) you need for a great day out exploring the reef - just bring swimmers and a dry change of clothes. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon coffee/cake all included. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: We recently spent a wonderful day out on the reef with the amazing Sea Star team. The staff are lovely, and extremely knowledgeable. The boat and equipment were clean and of an excellent standard. We enjoyed the glass bottom boat tour as well as the guided and independent snorkelling opportunities. All the while, crew members and diving guides were taking photos of the group, and these photos were available for us to download freely off the Sea Star social media page that afternoon. We would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to have a great day on the reef surrounded by good people. Thank you to the Sea Star team!

Fantastic experience: A really very nice and well-organized trip. Very friendly crew with plenty of staff (6 people) and a strong emphasis on safety. Basically only a few tourists on board (35) and no mass tourism. The tour consisted of two different snorkeling spots, with a warm lunch in between. At one of the spots, a glass-bottom boat was available. At both spots, there were guided snorkeling tours with a guide, as well as a safety post at the front of the boat. We spontaneously booked two dives on-site at a very reasonable price. Affordable and recommended for both certified divers and beginner divers. Snorkeling and diving according to your own preferences, everything is optional, and there was always a crew member available for any questions. All in all, truly recommendable, and we would book it again at any time!

Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff, locally owned business, great service and experience! It's a smaller boat (only 3 certified divers on our trip, probably 30 people in total?), but plenty of space, well set up seating area (including a dedicated dry area) and good boat toilets. The buffet looked great, they bring it onboard as no kitchen on the boat. I'm a coeliac and they had pre-prepared me separate safe food in a sealed container (really nice salad). We went for the double dive, but the extra snorkel trip at Michaelmas island was great! All in all, a much more efficient trip (less faff, more activities and faster boat, earlier finish time) compared to some of the bigger companies we've been with.

Fantastic experience: 200+ dives, and this was one of the best Aussie experiences I've had. We were incredibly lucky on the day we went out with Seastar. Calm waters, perfect temps both in & out of the water (24* and 28*). 20+ metre visibility. All this obviously makes a massive difference to the day you'll have (and is beyond anyone's control). I'll start with my friend. She was extremely anxious about the idea of snorkelling, but she braved up & came anyway. We gave the crew a heads up on her lack of confidence, and they kept a close eye on her in the water. She had a good time despite a few wobbly moments and got to see a lot of beautiful corals and fishies. She was really pleased she did it and I'm super proud of her. I've done a lot of diving in many countries, including a 5-day liveaboard in the GBR in 2015. I did two dives on this day. Tim, our Dive Master moved at an easy pace. Pointed out a few things I might have otherwise missed. We saw a small white tip shark, a huge grouper, giant clams, and scores and scores of fish, including Nemo, plus plenty of pretty gardens. But then the most incredible thing happened: we heard whales singing. Happened on both dives. Never has this happened to me before, and I doubt it ever will again. Beyond amazing. Obviously, Seastar can't guarantee you whales on your dives, but what I will say is they are a great size for more personal attention, and smaller groups often see more. They were organised. Thorough with the paperwork. Kit all looked to be well maintained. The lunch was tasty, and there was plenty of it. They were a friendly and reassuring lot. I would highly recommend this mob and will definitely go back to them next time I'm up. To the owners of the business: look after these particular group of guys and gals! They're good ones! Michelle

Fantastic experience: We had a great time onboard Seastar a few days ago where my girls did their first ever intro dive and snorkelling, and my second visit back to the Great Barrier Reef after 3 decades. I purposely chose a smaller cruise experience on day 1 out to the sea so that we could get all the attention we needed to calm our nerves and enjoyed ourselves without the larger crowds. With max 36 people it was run very smoothly with more time spent out at sea. Staff were very friendly, food was yummy and the two diving locations were magnificent with so much to see and take in. It was such a great life experience to our family we will definitely come back again to refresh our diving skills hopefully in the very near future!

Fantastic experience: Had a fabulous day with this professional outfit. This is my third visit to the reef over 30 years. Don’t waste your time with the big boats. Avoid the crowd. A much better reef experience with only 35 people. All experience levels were catered for. Nice to have guides to point out highlights. 2 stops and 2 hours at each place. Fantastic experience: We went on a snorkelling cruise out to the reef. The seastar staff were helpful, knowledgeable, and good fun. Lunch was good. My 13 and 8 year old boys were well entertained and helped when needed. I was able to get prescription snorkelling mask at no extra cost (unless I lost them). Overall it was great, couldn't have asked for better weather and team.

Fantastic experience: I had the pleasure of going for a ride, experience and exploring the great barrier reef with this lovely crew. My partner and I had an awesome time, great bunch of people and one of the few family operated cruises left. Positive experience: A great day out with very friendly and informative crew. A smallish boat with a max of only 36 guests, so we didn't feel like sheep being herded on and off. Wetsuits, snorkel and flippers (all of which fitted!) were provided. Lunch could be improved, as could the coffee but otherwise a great day

Positive experience: incredible experience!! We did the introduction diving+second diving and was amazing!! the coral was so colorful and we saw lots of beautiful fishes! would recommend 100%. I put 4 stars because the gluten free meal was just a salad and some nachos - and i didn’t have breakfast.

The crew on the boat was incredibly welcoming and friendly, making everyone feel safe and attended to. We visited two amazing locations during the trip, both stunning and full of fascinating marine life. A special shoutout goes to my diving instructor, Roman, who truly made my dive extraordinary. His attentiveness was exceptional - he checked in on me regularly throughout the dive to ensure I was comfortable. His communication underwater was clear, which significantly contributed to me feeling safe under water. He made the dive very enjoyable by pointing out incredible marine life. His knowledge and enthusiasm for diving were evident, and it made the experience all the more memorable. Thank you Seastar, the crew and Roman for an incredible day out on the water! I highly recommend their services for anyone looking to explore the reef in a safe, fun, and informative way.

Fantastic experience: It was the best excursion we did in Cairns; even though the weather was bad with rain, we really enjoyed the Great Barrier Reef. The instructors we had, Tim (on the glass-bottom boat) and Roman (scuba diving instructor), were very attentive and kind. The food was also very tasty and healthy. It's an excursion you can't miss.

Fantastic experience: We had a fantastic fun day. We were a family of 6 adults including an 81 yr old grandmother. We all went snorkelling even Nan who had never snorkeled before. Great crew who were always there to assist with anything needed always smiling, very friendly and made it fun. Some of the family have been on other tours but this was the best by far. Fantastic experience: I had a great day with Seastar out at the reef! The crew was very friendly and I loved the small size of the group. The crew members even learned some of our names and cared for our individual needs. They brought me to the shore of Michaelmas Cay to take pictures of the birds (the bird colony is stunning, I could have spend the whole day just there) before I started snorkeling, because they realized that I like birds. The reef was good as well. I have seen turtles, giant clams, loads of colourful fish and one reef shark. Really enjoyed my trip, thank you so much!

Fantastic experience: We had an truly quality experience out on the reef with Seastar, the facilities and activities were top notch. The staff were faultless throughout the day ,all super friendly and professional can't say a bad thing about any of them. Big shout out to our dive instructor Merlin he made sure everyone felt safe and had a really fun time trying scuba for the first time. Even though I already had my scuba license I still went with the introductory dives to refresh my memory and we still had plenty of time to enjoy the gorgeous reefs and plentiful marine life at each of our dive locations. Seastar caters to everyone from experienced divers to those who find snorkelling daunting. Would definitely recommend if you want to experience the great barrier reef with a welcoming and experienced crew. Cheers guys

Fantastic experience: Snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef has been on our bucket list for so long! While shopping around to figure out which company to book with - what made Seastar stand apart was its a smaller group tour - 36 max I believe. We did not want to end up on a 100+ person tour. Our trip had maybe 20 - which was perfect. The crew was knowledgable and incredibly helpful. Trip timing was about 7:30 am to 4 pm. Equipment was good quality and the food was a nice touch. We had such a great time! Thank you Seastar for such a wonderful day and experience!

Fantastic experience: A big, sturdy boat for the trip out in case of inclement weather but only 36 people max. The crew were fantastic, always asking if we were OK. Felt reassured by the safety protocols and the fact you could have an instructor with you whilst snorkeling if you wanted. Great timing, food and organisation combining the inner reef where you could sit on an island and an outer reef for deeper water. We thought it was amazing!

Fantastic experience: What an amazing day! I have been to the Great Barrier Reef 4 times now and this was hands down that best trip. The crew certainly knows how to go above and beyond when it comes to customer care. To put into perspective I am not good at swimming and I have asthma but the crew insured I had all the equipment to make sure I could see the reef. Special shout out to Leo, who essentially carried me on a life ring around the reef just so I could spend more than ten minutes viewing it at a time. The weather was perfect, the crew was perfect, and seeing such a rare and beautiful thing was perfect! Oh! And we got to see a whale! If you’re in Cairns, Australia and want to see the reef, I highly recommend Seastar Cruises, it only takes 36 passengers a day and is a truly is a luxury experience for a backpacker budget price.

Fantastic experience: Great trip to Great Barrier Reef. Big recommendation. The Seastar is a really cool boat (not too big, not too small and very clean and tidy), the crew was very fun to be with and extremely sweet with our kids (7 and 3). We enjoyed every minute.

Fantastic experience: This company are by far the best! I have snorkelled the Great Barrier Reef twice and also two other reefs in different countries and none come close to how good this is. Safety is first and foremost and then experience. We saw fish and viral in every colour of the rainbow and snorkelled with a massive turtle! A small family owned company you MUST try!!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic reef tour! One of the few local reef tours in Cairns and they do a fantastic job! We had 2 x 2 hour snorkel sessions at two different reef sites (one inner one outer) and the who experience was great. Snorkel sessions could either be self guided or with a guide (no additional cost). Capped at small numbers (I think 38?) and about 3 or 4 snorkel guides. Stinger suits, snorkel and flippers and optional lifevest/pool noodles supplied. Lunch was great and plenty of tea/coffee and cake! Only thing I found a little lacking were instructions on when to arrive (turns out you arrive at 7:30 boat doesnt leave at that time). I had to phone reception to make an adjustment and both times I rang the lady on the phone could not seem more disinterested. Don't let that put you off though, the staff on board are some of the most friendly, high energy, informative and interesting people we've met since in Aus!

Fantastic experience: We had the most amazing excursion to the Great Barrier Reef with the crew on the Seastar cruise. The crew was really friendly, knowledgeable and professional. They made us feel really safe while out on the reef and had us laugh and feeling excited to explore the ocean before starting. They did a great job at educating us about the reef and ecosystem at each stop. There were two stops at two locations along the way. The trip felt very person because there were only about 25 people on the boat. They took many photos of us and of all the animals we saw in the water. This was a 10/10 experience and I would highly recommend to anyone who is comparing and deciding what trip they want to go on out to the Great Barrier Reef.

Fantastic experience: Perfect day at the great coral reef! If you are looking for the best tour on the great coral reef, sea star it’s your place to go! Look no further! You go in a small group with plenty of staff so you feel very well look after! The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable! They do guided snorkel tours so you don’t feel lost in the waters! And they are one of the only two companies who have access to michaelmas cay, a paradise to snorkel! Since you arrive to the boat you have tea and coffee and muffins! Buffet lunch is served and then you have tea and coffee cakes and fruit in the afternoon! Without a doubt the best company to visit the great coral reef! 10/10 day! You can also have the chance to dive!

Fantastic experience: I had such a fantastic day snorkeling at Michaelmas Cay and Hastings reef with the fun crew. I loved the small group trip. The crew made an effort to ensure every guest had a good time. I would recommend this tour for anyone. Our tour included families, a retiree and several 20- and 30- somethings. . We saw thousands and thousands of beautiful fish and corals. Food was reasonably good (and included vegetarian options).

Fantastic experience: This is my first time in Cairns, coming alone for a diving tour, and I highly recommend Seastar! Compared to other companies, Seastar operates with smaller groups, so the boat isn’t crowded, and the crew takes great care of you. There happened to be a crew member (Tim) on board who speaks Chinese, which made me decide to experience scuba diving! At first, I was very nervous, but Tim's expertise gave me confidence, allowing me to explore the beautiful underwater world! It's a completely different view compared to snorkeling at the surface. The meals on the boat were also very tasty, with both hot and cold dishes available, and you can also purchase drinks for an additional cost. The crew will even help you take pictures, and you can download the wonderful memories from that day on their Facebook! I will recommend all my friends to join the Seastar tour, and I will definitely choose them again when I come back to Cairns!

Fantastic experience: We enjoyed the all-day cruise that went to Michaelmas Cay and Hastings Reef. The crew were terrific, fun and experienced. The boat was relatively modern and fast/smooth, and well kept. It was a small-group cruise with a maximum of 36 people, and was not overly crowded. All required equipment to snorkel or dive with was provided. A nice lunch was also provided. Our goal was to snorkel and this was one of the best cruises for that, giving us almost 3.5 to 4 hours in the water. There was more than enough time to explore the reef with, at first, a Seastar guide, then on our own. There was no rush and we just spent so much time exploring and swimming with so many fish and even a shark! The locations were great and the experience well worth it. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: SeaStar Cruises provided us an amazing experience both snorkelling and scuba diving at Michaelmas and Hastings reef. The staff were absolutely incredible - they were both informative and entertaining, and very accomodating to all guests. Our scuba instructor, Corolla, was incredibly encouraging and patient. Seastar was able to provide us with a smaller group experience ( roughly 30 people) which made all of the difference for us. Thank you Seastar for an amazing first dive !

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend using seastar for the snorkeling and diving experience on the reef. Max 36 people so you are not over crowded on the big boats. Everything is provided and highly safe. There are about 10 crew who attend to your every need. You can take a beginner diving course, or if you're certified they have everything. There are guided snorkeling tours and master divers. Breakfast lunch and afternoon snacks are available as is a bar for the journey home. Crew is very friendly and great. The boat is large and spacious for the right number of people. Could not fault them at all.

Fantastic experience: Cruised with Seastar out to the Reef on 25NOV2023, went with them as they provide a smaller group experience (max 35 I believe), and everything was awesome! Very friendly staff - Renee, Archie, Carola and others, and Chris was our boat driver. All very professional, knowledgeable about what they were providing for us. Clean boat, clean wetsuits and snorkels, easy instructions on how to use everything. Chatted with the crew on the way back, great people!! Loved everything about the experience, highly recommend Seastar for your Reef experience!!!

Fantastic experience: A phenomenal experience, I highly recommend. After seeing the much larger tourist boats depart I was glad we booked with Seastar to be part of a smaller group. It wasn’t crowded at all in the water and they have great respect for the coral. All the crew were amazing and knowledgeable, there’s plenty of food and drink and the stops on the reef are unreal! I really appreciated that when my partner decided not to try the diving and we automatically were refunded. They also take all your pictures and upload them onto Facebook for free so you can truly take it all in and enjoy the day. 10/10 highly recommend

Fantastic experience: Phenomenal experience today with Seastar, there were so many cruises to choose from online with the Great Barrier Reef tours it was hard to choose but once I came across Seastar I was sold! From the get go the team were welcoming, attentive, informative and made your equipment was catered to each individual person. The two tours were very informative and you got to see so much all the team leaders were very knowledgeable about the reef and what’s below and it enable you to have a better experience. The catering was second to none perfect for a day out starting with muffins and teas and coffees to a selection of buffet food to tea cake fruit to end. Perfect day and I will visit Seastar again!

Fantastic experience: Enjoyed the Cruise. The reefs we went to were great with much sea life. Crew were extremely friendly and helpful. Food was much better than I expected. Nice to be on a smaller boat without a million people on board like some of the larger vessels.

Fantastic experience: Over the weekend (21/10) my friends and I went snorkelling and learnt about the reef. The staff provided excellent food, gear and a positive attitude. Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience to see the coral reef. We chose this tour because, unlike many others, it is tailored for a limited number of people, and it indeed turned out to be the winning choice. The boat was very beautiful and comfortable, and we could stay both inside and outside. The staff is very kind but, above all, efficient and knowledgeable. The tour consists of about 1 hour by boat (where you can eat muffins and drink tea/coffee) to reach the first stop of two hours near an island where the inner coral reef is located, and you have the opportunity to take a boat ride with a glass bottom and also dive among wonderful fish. Subsequently, lunch is served, and there is another boat ride to reach the absolutely SPECTACULAR outer reef (another two hours). Once back on the boat, there are sweets and fruit waiting for us. The staff was fantastic even in taking pictures of us throughout the trip. There is also the possibility to go diving. Absolutely recommended!

Positive experience: Lovely staff, professional and helpful, reef’s they go to are of average standard, the outer reef had some coral bleaching. Good variation of fish small and large, if your lucky you can see turtles and reef sharks.

Fantastic experience: Me and my partner had the pleasure to join Seastar for a diving/snorkeling tour today. These guys are great. The boat is comfortable, the crew is approachable and fun, the food is nice. We had the luck to have an instructor for us for both dives and despite being the first time we felt supported and safe. I was really nervous at the beginning and about to give up but Tim managed to make me feel relaxed and in control of the situation and I successfully completed 2 dives with him always there to support and show me the beauties of the reef!I Thank you for the lovely day!

Fantastic experience: Very professional service. The reef tour was fantastic, especially the Hastings reef. We had great weather with low swell. Smaller boat with around 50 people works much better than the big boats. You get way more time in the water. Food on board was good but ran out quickly due to alot of people thinking it was their last meal .
