Hot Air Balloon Cairns

Fantastic experience: My first solo trip to Cairns started off perfectly with a hot air balloon morning activity! I really appreciated the very attentive service, including the pickup in front of the hotel and the travel time to the site, as well as the Japanese explanation video that was prepared. The staff were all warm and friendly, always smiling and engaging in conversation, making me want to return! Thank you for taking so many pictures with me. And the breathtaking views from above were simply the best... I won’t post the photos on purpose, but I highly recommend participating in this experience, and definitely wake up early for it!

Fantastic experience: It was the best experience! Tony and the staff of three created an atmosphere where all participants could enjoy themselves, and I felt the best hospitality. The balloon experience exceeded my expectations! The flight that lasted over an hour went by in no time. The kids were so excited to see kangaroos. I believe it was thanks to Tony that we could happily participate in the final balloon packing. It was a fun tour until the end!

Fantastic experience: My wife & I undertook this exhilarating experience which was awesome. From booking the trip, through hotel transfers, communication/great banter as well as breathtaking views from the best position possible in the sky to the champagne breakfast afterwards the professionalism of all the staff shone as bright as the sun rising in the sky! We cannot thank Suzanne, Tori, Neil and all the staff enough for such a special experience! Fantastic experience: The guide Tony was very entertaining and gave us a great tour. I thought it would be cold, but thanks to the flames above us, it was warm. (I recommend wearing a hat to protect yourself) We also saw wild kangaroos from the balloon. It was an extraordinary experience to see the sun rising. The orange juice or champagne after getting off the balloon was also fun! The chocolate brownies served here were delicious! Cleaning up after the balloon with everyone became a great memory.

Fantastic experience: We had the best time with Tori, Brownie, Zach and our pilot Josh. Tori picked us up and had water and juice ready for us. When we got to the balloons, they were definitely a sight to see. The flight is magnificent and does not feel like you are flying. The views are breathtaking. Josh was so knowledgeable pointing out all of the landscape and finding every wallaby below us. Tori was an exceptional driver. He knew all of the history and took us to the best sites to take pictures as we drove from Cairns to Port Douglas. He even waited for us to enjoy the beach at palm cove. This was definitely the best way to see the sunrise and the tablelands. I’d highly recommend this adventure to anyone.

Positive experience: The tour has an incredibly early meeting time in the morning, so some mental preparation and readiness might be needed. After picking up guests from several hotels in Cairns, the tour bus takes about an hour to reach the flight location at the Tablelands. Once all the tour activities are completed, you will be driven back to Cairns by bus. You should be back before noon.

Then we met our aeronaut, Frank and Zac who helps behind the scene. Both were very fun, and knowledgeable, they made our experience. Being in the air balloon, is so peaceful and relaxing, and the team is a full part of the experience. Good job guys, we’ll definitely be back !!

Our early day started with Tory, our bus driver, who entertained and enlighten us. The balloon ride was amazing and fun, with our entertaining pilot, Frank at the helm. He brought us in low a few times just to see the frolicking wallabys, wallaroos, and kangaroos below. Suzie and Tory manned the ground crew and entertained us at take-off, landing, and our post flight champagne celebration. Wow... what a trip!

Fantastic experience: I believe there are several unforgettable memories in life, and this experience is definitely one of them. Waking up at 3 AM during the trip is a bit tough, but it's worth it. The driver explained everything in Japanese, had a sense of humor, and was kind and courteous. The views visible only from a balloon, which are different from those seen from an airplane or helicopter, are breathtaking, and I had no worries at all about the pilot, who held a professional license. If I have the opportunity to travel to Cairns again, I definitely want to participate.

Fantastic experience: The price was a bit high, but it was a wonderful tour where I could experience something I've never experienced before! We were driven early in the morning through mountain roads (it can be quite bumpy, so if you're prone to motion sickness, it might be good to have some medicine) to a private land where we could fly hot air balloons. We also stopped at a very nice coffee shop along the way! On the day I went, there was a lot of fog, so we waited at a rest area for about 20 minutes because we couldn't drive. Because of that, I couldn't see the sunrise from the balloon, but even considering that, it was still a great tour. I was told by a Japanese tour guide that the people who fly the balloons are nationally certified in Australia, and there are only two companies that do it, so it's safe to choose a company without worrying too much about safety! The flight time was about 20 minutes, and since we landed in a spot that looked like a straw field, I thought it would be better to wear sneakers. It was also really fun to help pack up the balloon after landing, which took about 20 minutes. Above all, the scenery is just beautiful. It was completely different from any scenery I had ever seen in my life, and I could keep looking at it forever. I definitely want to experience this again the next time I go to Cairns. There was some concern about the weather and he kept us updated and reassured all morning! Once we were on the balloon, Frank was our pilot, he made us feel very safe in the balloon and also made sure we had a wonderful time! Fantastic views of the tableland and a must do experience once in your life!!! Wonderful glass of bubbly and snacks afterward, and they even gave me a bottle for my birthday!

He kept us entertained throughout the journey to Mareeba! Pilot Bob did an amazing job with his expert maneuvering of the balloon and ensured safety to all. He shared many wonderful insights while piloting the balloon. Roy took some amazing photos and assisted in the preparations and packing. All in all, the team deserve a perfect 5-Star recommendation!

Fantastic experience: Great part of our Honeymoon, truly a great experience. We did a private basket, it was very intimate and beautiful. We have gone ballooning in Mexico, US, Italy, and now Australia, and this operator was no disappointment. The tablelands were amazing to see in the early morning.

Fantastic experience: Loved Frank, Roy, and Hannah as our balloon crew! Frank loves balloon flying and it’s incredibly apparent! Roy broke some large bush branches for us so we don’t get hurt while we deboard. Hannah took care of us every other step of the way. The crew worked so well together, they were like a family. Highly recommend this experience, specifically with this crew.

Fantastic experience: We went with my husband to celebrate our anniversary, the experience was incredible, the team that was in charge of the activity Suz, Brawnie, Hitochi, Brian and Bob were simply friendly and attentive at all times, they highlighted the teamwork they do and how They include you in the entire process of disassembling the balloon, at the end they surprised us with champagne and some snacks. The only thing they should improve is the quality of the photos, almost all of them were blurry.

Fantastic experience: Right from the get-go, Brownie welcomed me as our bus driver, and I could tell it was going to be an awesome experience. He was super informative and had a great sense of humor. When we reached the launch site, Brian and Frank were there preparing the balloon. The three of them together were a riot, making everyone feel at ease and pumped for the adventure. We had our safety briefing, then soared up into the sky. The views were incredible, especially watching the sunrise! Frank was full of information about what he was doing, providing commentary about the area, pointing out wildlife, and keeping us entertained. The whole flight process was unbelievable, a must-do experience. Frank was a fantastic pilot! The landing was smooth, and after packing up the balloon, enjoying some wine and nibbles really topped off the trip. Massive thanks to Frank, Brian, and Brownie; this experience will stay with me forever.

Frank Tony and Brian took the best care of us and made the whole trip fun, entertaining and made us all feel calm and safe (even those worried about heights). Turning into the take off field and seeing the balloons warming up, glowing the in the sunrise, was magically and as we rose above the ground with the sun coming up we felt a sense of awe. Frank was not only an excellent and experienced aeronaut but also gave us lots of interesting information about the local area - what we could see on the ground, the history and answering all our questions. Brain and Tony met us back on the ground and their witty chat made for a fun pack up and explore of the ballooning equipment and drinks and breakfast after the flight. Beyond the flight the Hot Air team were great at communicating and very quick to respond to any emails and photos of the flight were shared within hours. THANK YOU to all the team, what a morning!

Fantastic experience: We had the most amazing time! Such a well organised process. We were picked up at the exact prearranged time and taken to meet the main bus which then took us to the hot air balloon departure location (after a quick toilet and coffee stop). Watching the balloon set up and inflation was fascinating! They then helped us into the balloon and off we went for a lovely relaxing and enjoyable flight. We then enjoyed the experience of landing and got to help pack up the balloon and basket. This was followed by some bubbles or a juice and some tasty snacks. We were then taken back to meet our connecting bus and dropped off to our hotel. I highly recommend the experience! Exceptional knowledge of the area and so informative. Our early morning start did not deter us from a spectacular time on the Hotair balloon with Neil our pilot. When we returned to earth, we received a breakfast with champagne from Frank, who explained some interesting tales. Not forgetting our very funny and entertaining driver and host Brownie. Fantastic experience: The price was definitely not cheap, and my family had opposing views, but I conveyed my strong desire to do it, and we participated as a family of four. After finishing the experience in the hot air balloon, I really felt it was worth it, even if I had to persuade them! If you have the chance, you must experience this!! It is worth every penny you pay!! I had one of the most moving experiences in my life, ranking it among the top three!!

Positive experience: I participated in the hot air balloon tour provided by one of the world's largest hot air balloon companies, 'Hot Air Balloon Cairns & Gold Coast'. They picked me up from my hotel in Cairns city before 4 AM, and we traveled by bus. We ascended to an altitude of 700 meters. Along the way, we flew while descending in altitude, seeing mountains, fields, and forests, all the way to residential areas, and we even spotted a few wild wallabies. It seems like Australia's ballooning license regulations are stricter than in other countries, which is reassuring.

Fantastic experience: The friendly staff, Tony, Bryan, and Captain Neil were all great. The hot air balloon launch took place in Mareeba, which is said to have many sunny days throughout the year, and even though it was cloudy in Cairns when I went, it was sunny in Mareeba. The flow of the tour was as follows: Picked up at the hotel → Explanation during the trip → Restroom break in Mareeba → Boarded the hot air balloon → Landing → Everyone helped clean up → Toast with champagne and orange juice → Disbanded at the Skyrail Station. The hot air balloon uses a burner above, so it’s safe, but wearing a hat is advisable. Also, since we land in areas with grass and plants while cleaning up, it's good to have long pants or tights. Overall, it was a very enjoyable tour, so I highly recommend it!

Fantastic experience: It was an accident that rarely happens, and I was wondering what would happen, but they changed my reservation for the next day, and I was able to experience a wonderful journey in the sky. Waking up early for two consecutive days was tough, but it turned into an even more emotional and enjoyable memory. Tony and his wonderful companions did a great job. The photo service is also good. I can't convey it all with my poor photos. Please make sure to join the tour and experience the emotions.

Fantastic experience: The hot air balloon was an amazing experience! Great views, Josh was very knowledgable and made us feel safe and gave us great things to look at. The morning champagne and quiche was delicious!

Fantastic experience: Bob is a comedian by day and balloon pilot by night.. sort of. A fantastic experience with colour commentary of the surrounding Mareeba area where we were “gone with the wind”. Props to the team Joe and Suzie for keeping the operation going from the ground we managed to stay above dry land for 1 hour and 16 mins. This was an experience to remember and the views were incredible. Thanks guys!
