Fantastic experience: This a review of the Skedaddle boat tour, run by the Seastar people. They started using the Skedaddle about a year ago. It seems very new, and it did move quite fast, although it's just a fast big boat, nothing like the jetboating experience in New Zealand. The boat left a few minutes after the time we were told because everyone had to et kitted out with equipment. The staff were very friendly. At Hastings reef they towed people around if necessary, and gave everyone a descriptive tour, pointing out anemone fish and giant clams and such, and imparting general reef knowledge. The skedaddle is only 12-4:40 or so, so they don't have much vittles on board, just some drinks for purchase, but they didn't have an issue with us bringing our own snacks. We saw a turtle with the guides, then towards the end a few sharks for those of us who snorkeled pretty much the whole time. There's one snorkel session of a couple of hours. The boat has a bathroom. They provide sunscreen and water, and there are warm showers for hosing off. You pay for the tour, hen an additional $15 per person in reef tax when you board at Finger E of the Marljn Wharf. The company's office is in the BreakFree Royal Harbor hotel building.

Fantastic experience: This was the perfect tour for me - I wanted to see the Great Barrier Reef but wanted a tour that was small group (less than 20 people), eco-friendly, and relatively short (I don’t like snorkeling for more than an hour or two). This tour checked all those boxes! We boarded at 11AM and were at the Hastings Reef a little after noon. We got a 40 min guided snorkeling tour to get oriented with the environment and then got about an hour and a half to freely snorkel around. The staff took pictures with their underwater camera and uploaded the photos to Facebook so you didn’t have to worry about taking your own. There was also an optional 20 min glass bottom boat tour for those who were done with snorkeling early - it was super informative and I learned a lot about the reef!

Fantastic experience: I have been living in Cairns for 6 months by now and I genuinely think this is the best tour you can get on the Outer Reef. First of all, all the crew is simply the best, always smiling, kind and informative. The boat is fast but not in a disturbing way, on the contrary, it avoids seasickness and it is actually pretty fun. It has a great value for what it offers and you get what you are there for: a GREAT day on the GREAT Barrier Reef. No more money wasted in poor lunches and not useless time spent on board. Instead, you get offered free tea/coffee and biscuits and FREE (!!!) photos, uploaded on the public facebook page of the company! I tried scuba diving for the first time in my life and I have to send a HUGE thank you to Will: I am sure other instructors are fabulous as well, but I can't help having the feeling I got the best one I could get. I was really anxious at the beginning and he was patient and made me feel relaxed in no time. I am so glad I chose Skedaddle. Do not miss the intro diving if it is something you want to try. Snorkeling is amazing as well, my boyfriend had a great time with the snorkeling guides. Thank you thank you thank you ♥️

Fantastic experience: Like others have said the crew is great. I signed up late for the snorkeling and then added a certified dive before boarding. They did this even though it should be booked before hand. The dive master was really good and gave me the complete overview before the dive. Another bonus was that I was the only other diver so it was just me and him. After the dive I was able to go snorkeling as well for around 30 minutes. We spotted a sea turtle and swam around with him for a while. The water got a little choppy on the return and there were a few big jumps! We took one rather big hit and then the skipper slowed things down a bit. Another good thing about this tour is that it takes off right outside of the Shangri-La where I was staying. Couldn't get any more convenient that that! I skipped the glass bottom boat, but I'm sure that was cool too. One more thing, this is a great tour for families and kids too and for people with all levels of swimming.

Fantastic experience: We went on a trip with the Skedaddle team and it was amazing! Departure at 11 am and 45 minutes later, we arrive at the coral reef. A guide first gave us an introduction about the corals and raised awareness about the threats to the reef. Very interesting and on top of that, we were on a boat with a glass bottom. Then the famous snorkeling where we were blown away! Thanks again!!

Fantastic experience: This is a great tour. Only small groups which gives it a more personal experience. Crew are friendly and helpful. The reefs were amazing. Plenty of time to explore and the two locations are completely different from each other which we loved. Plenty of marine life to see up close.

It only got better when the glass boat tour happened and post that snorkelling. Truly breathtaking.. thank you to the staff to make the experience so beautiful and let's work towards conserving our Great Barrier reef. Let our grandkids or their kids have a chance to experience this beauty that has been endowed upon us and looked after by the Traditional owners for thousands of years.. salute to them as well...

Fantastic experience: Fabulous time snorkeling alongside the Skedaddle crew today. We did the half day tour which was fantastic. It takes about 1.5 hours on the boat to the outer reef and you spend roughly 2 hours snorkeling. All equipment provided. Staff were great tour guides. The boat was very bumpy at times but it's because it is so fast - which is great. The crew takes pictures of you also which you can get off their FB page. Would highly recommend!!

Fantastic experience: Very highly recommend this company! One of the only companies that does a half day tour to the OUTER reef , we had two hours snorkelling Hastings reef which was plenty of time. The staff were exceptional - super friendly , knowledgeable about the reef, professional and often made us laugh.. they clearly love their jobs and that made us love the day even more!

Fantastic experience: One of the best experiences of my life. Staff are super friendly and helpful. The boat was sparkling clean. Tour included upto 90 mins of snorkeling with a guided tour, glass bottom boat ride. Absolutely would do it again

Fantastic experience: Great experience, small group and every one was friendly and patient, half day tour is much better than the big boat and full day group. Would definitely recommend it to anyone. Price is very reasonable as well.

Fantastic experience: Such an awesome day. The reef here has so much aquatic life, so many nemo fish, maorie rasse, parrot fish, barracuda fish and blue spotted stingray ....all in an hour! Crew super nice and knowledgeable.....oh yeah and there is a sandy cay with lots of birds. Highly recommend for a quick reef trip!!!!!!!

Positive experience: Very nice staff. Learnt a few new tips for Snorkling. The cree helped to fit the mask properly and even provide vaseline for those who have moustache (makes better seal for the mask). Crew was vigilant and provided all safety gear as needed. The boat ride was fast, saves time. Though the ride was a very rough. Not suitable for elderly or people with spinal problems. The water was a bit choppy that day so that might have made the ride rougher than usual.

Fantastic experience: If you're after a short trip out to the reef, this is for you. Family completed a 1/2 day tour and this was ample time to explore (2 hours, 1 hour was with a guide, other you can self explore or go out with another guide). Service includes wetsuits etc. Family are novice at snorkelling and the staff helped with this. Was a breeze. Boat was fast, very new, and limited seats (I think about 36 all up, so you get personalised service). I fully recommend that you go with Skedaddle to explore the GBR.

Fantastic experience: These guys are excellent. Had a great day in and on the water. 45 mins to Hastings Reef. Friendly experienced crew who gave a great tour to our small group. Saw plenty of fish and was better than most of the snorkelling trips I have done in the Sth Pacific. Can't recommend highly enough

Fantastic experience: My partner and I absolutely loved the whole trip. Thanks to the speed of the boat I didn't get seasick (which is a miracle) and once we got to the reef friendly guides explained everything we needed to know about the reef and our safety. Pictures for free are a huge plus.

Fantastic experience: Really great experience. I chose company as it seemed cheaper than other companies and the trip to the reef was so quick. Unlike other companies where it takes a few hours to get to the reef this was only 45 mins. Spent 2 hours snorkelling which was plenty of time. I don't think I would have wanted more time so this experience was great. Staff were great and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend this company

Fantastic experience: GREAT company! I did two tours while in Cairns, Skedaddle was far superior. It is very efficient, accomplished the same amount of reef time in a half day as I was able to in a full day with the other company. FABULOUS staff with great energy and excitement. I felt safe and supported the whole time and had a wonderful guided reef tour. Saw turtles, Sharks, many many fish! Highly highly recommend this group. The boat is brand new and beautiful and the ride out to the reef is great fun.
