Fantastic experience: The best place in the world, really fun atmosphere and easy going with a cool bar and a rooftop, Highly recommend.

Negative experience: I absolutely DO NOT recommend staying here - the whole place needs gutted and redone. Absolutely filthy and very run down. Apparently there was a flood recently so there is a bad smell - a bit like urine. There are currently roadworks going on just outside the hostel during the entire night and they were so loud I barely got any sleep. Whilst this isn’t the hostels fault, they make no effort to even warn you about this as I would have tried to get to sleep before the roadworks began if warned, they could also do things like offer free earplugs (I had my own but this feels like bare minimum, you can still hear the roadworks clearly through them) or just acknowledge it in some way! Windows are also not fit for purpose so do nothing to reduce the noise. Lots of people seemed like they were living there so not great for solo travellers looking to meet people to do activities with. Only saving grace is location and the staff were nice.

Positive experience: I’ve stayed in hostels for the same price that were way less nice with a lot fewer facilities than this one. Check-in was efficient and smooth. The app is a great addition to the experience. Cheap beer in the bar below. Of course it’s not 5 star hotel quality of cleanliness, but you get what you pay for. Only downside to me is the clientele can be loud at night… lotsa young party people. But if that’s your vibe or it doesn’t bother you, I’d recommend staying here.

Negative experience: Pretty grim hostel everywhere felt, smelled and looked dirty. It seemed like everyone who stayed here either worked there or was working in the area so it’s not ideal if you’re trying to socialise as a back packer. Room was filthy with 3 cockroaches round and generally looked and had an unclean feel about it. Positives I can say is the reception staff were friendly and the price was good - but clearly at a cost.

Fantastic experience: Had a great time staying in All nations in Brisbane CBD. Lovely old building with a cool old-school elevator perfectly located in the city centre. Getting a renovation at the moment which doesn't really affect the stay. Amazing staff who pould me into another room after the air con in the first room had some issues. Had a private room that offered everything I needed. I will stay there again next time I visit Brisbane.

Negative experience: I've stayed in around 100 different hostels, this is the worst one I have experienced so far. I have literally nothing positive to say about this place. Everybody I've met who stayed here says the same. All nations is a running joke, dog kennel for accommodation.

Fantastic experience: Perfect hostel to explore Brisbane for a few days and also great as a longterm resident. I've been here for 2 months and feel super comfortable. Everyone here is super nice, I never feel alone and it's easy to make friends. the staff are very helpful and friendly. Another plus point is the distance from the hostel! It's only a 1-2 minute walk and you're already in the city center. There is also a small supermarket right across the street and a large Woolworth's 3 minutes away! The hostel has a super big kitchen which is cleaned 3 times a day. The hostel also has a movie room and you can even play fifa and other games! I can highly recommend this hostel!

Fantastic experience: I really love this hostel! If you are looking for good location this is the place, just in the heart of CBD is All nations, all the staff is nice and would help you with everything. I have been living in here more than 1 month and I don’t want to move to other place, the kitchen is full equipped, but if you don’t want to cook just down the stairs is this nice bar 4 pines where you can eat the nicest food. The bathrooms and everything is super clean, so I will say is the best hostel that you can find in Brisbane!

Fantastic experience: All Nations Brisbane is the best hostel I've ever been to. Apart from having everything you need (very complete hostel and in the center of the city), since the first moment I arrived there, the people have welcomed me as if they were my family, and thats why I decided to live here.

Fantastic experience: Great location, friendly staff, rooms are cleaned every day and beds are always made with new clean bedding after every person. Very social and active, definitely recommend!

Negative experience: The hostel was absolutely disgusting! The beds were cleanly made, but there were cockroaches running around in the room! The shower and toilet were fine again, but the kitchen was a totally dirty room, disgusting and unhygienic! Very few people wash the used dishes and no one cleans anything! You can wash everything off first before using! The whole hostel also stank of feces or something similar! Would never check into this hostel again!

Negative experience: Men's toilets on the ground floor are closed bc of construction, 1st floor only one toilet with a broken lock. Have fun guys! Also very dirty common areas and a loud standalone ac in the middle of the room. You better get slushed or have earplugs

Positive experience: Good, easy to reach location. Staff are helpful. The building is historic and is showing signs of wear.

Negative experience: The hostel is in many parts dirty and partly neglected. Wall plaster crumbles, there are holes in the carpet, faucets are not working properly, showers are dirty... The only upsides are the occasional free food and the location near the CBD. Would nevertheless not recommend.

Positive experience: The location is perfect and the people are super nice. The rooms are a bit outdated, the smell was not good but i think it was the people in the room that smelled bad and the beds are not te best. There were only 6 lockers in an 8 bed dorm so that was not to great for the new guy. Now on the positive note, the showers were clean and warm, the bar downstairs is a lot of fun and a free drink and the hostel has free dinner nights!!

Negative experience: It's a scam. The photos don't really look anything like the hostel. The rooftop is not accessible because it's being renovated (for a long time, but it's not mentioned). The rooms are dirty, never cleaned, the only thing that's done on a daily basis is to change the room garbage cans. For our part, we booked a room for 4 for greater comfort, but it was ridiculously small, we had to walk all over ourselves, and there was no space for our luggage. In addition, there is a "hole" above all the bedroom's door, so you understand everything... The bathrooms aren't great either: all the showers don't work properly, and neither do the taps. The kitchen is too small for the number of people in the hostel... We step on each other too, all the hotplates don't work, and I even think that some of the fridges where we stored food no longer work either. Generally speaking, the hostel is poorly maintained, as evidenced by the fact that we experienced a major water leak due to a broken toilet. We had to evacuate one morning, then lived without electricity for a whole day, we washed in the dark and the same for meals one evening... Obviously, don't expect any compensation, and what's more, the hostel doesn't refund you if you want to leave early (unlike the vast majority in Australia). The only positive points are the location and the bar below the hostel.

Fantastic experience: A really unbelievable great hostel! The hostel is in an old building and so cute, the rooms are great! Downstairs is a bar from which you can hear nothing in the rooms! Everything is really clean and the people are super nice! The staff is very courteous and always helps! In addition, the location is central and everything is within walking distance! I would recommend to everyone! Whether alone or as a couple or as a family! All room categories meet expectations! In addition, all rooms have air conditioning, which you can adjust according to your wishes!!

Fantastic experience: Loved my stay here! Brilliant location and a cool vibe. Place is under construction so have to allow for some losses but overall great! Beth was amazing, always there to help and encouraged us to come down to the bar which turned into a few great nights! Will definitely come back when I’m back in Brisbane!

Negative experience: Overall, this hostel felt tired and in need of a renovation. Felt like a haunted hotel movie sometimes with the lack of lighting in the halls. The bathrooms were never clean - there was even a ladder and paint bucket sitting in one of the shower stalls. The evaporative air conditioning they put in the room was very loud and keeps you up all night. The heritage elevator was cool though. The main advantage of this hostel is the location - near train station, Woolies, etc.

Negative experience: Worst place I’ve stayed.. don’t expect much from a hostel but it’s not up to a basic standard -disgusting to say the least. Not as advertised online.

Positive experience: Really good location and lovely staff, however a lot lacking. The building is extremely old, so that has to be taken into account but the rooms are incredibly hot and the ac unit is insanely loud, the loudest I've ever heard. Impossible to sleep with it on so you wake up very hot. Each door has a wooden, open pattern/pannel above it so you can hear every noise in the hallway and it also allows the hallway light to shine through. Trying to sleep here was very difficult and I had a private room. The beds are ok, but the bedding is just a duvet between two sheets, which means during the night they come apart. My duvet has so many stains on it, including blood stains... didn't need to see that. Rooms were also very dusty. Toilets were average for a hostel, but one toilet was broken, definitely needs an upgrade. Laundry on my floor with a card machine(!) Was a great addition as was the goki app for key cards. Wifi was hit/miss, but again to be expected in a hostel.

Negative experience: I was disappointed since the moment I got there. There's a MASSIVE construction going on that building and the one in front that will probably last a good few months and they wouldn't even bother to let people know beforehand, let alone take down their price considering you can't sleep as the tradies work all evening from 10pm to 6am. The video I recorded is at 3am, have a look and take your own conclusions. Besides that, it's a VERY old building, falling apart, toilets are disgusting, old carpet that smells really bad everywhere, careless service from staff im reception. I finished up my tree horrible nights in there and moved to another one 10 minutes walk away, same price and it's been great so far. Location is OK, next to supermarket and train station, that's all the positives about it... sorry I hate to leave bad reviews but I really don't think this is fair what they're doing with people.

Negative experience: Went in to chase up some accommodation at the hostel .. And was told by the reception rudely that their was only “private single rooms “ available and they told me a significant amount for a hostel room and I looked online to find all their rooms were available and I called the woman I spoke too and put a voice on and asked available room and was told their all open to rent out ,, some English girl with a short cut top with her bra showing .. haha what a joke … she shouldn’t be working their with her lies and attitude unbelievable

Fantastic experience: Very good location, you have access to everything you need basically locationwise. Staff is super friendly and a straight forward. Considering that this is a super old building, you have to have luck, because rooms tend to change from the quality, but otherwise they are all decent. Huge plus are the events with a lot of free food and drinks as well as events You guys NEED to go to the Sunday BBQ, I can highly recommend it, because love is around every corner :))

Fantastic experience: I like living here very much. The location is of course the best, and above all, the atmosphere of the staff is lively and fun. And everyone supports me politely.

Negative experience: Awful experience overall. The mattress allowed you to feel the springs stabbing you during the back, the elevator represented an adrenaline rush each time you took it, there were people all around the halls and corridors making noise during day and night, there were open grilles above every door so you could hear every noise the teenagers were doing during the night, depriving you from sleep without much hesitation. There were no rules enforced regarding general order, cleanliness or mutual respect among the guests. The cherry on top on the cake was the fire alarm going off at around 10:00 PM for no good reason at all, making us evacuate the building. The only good thing about the place is the location, other than that wouldn't recommend it to anyone but teenagers who don't care much about anything but partying or activities alike.

Fantastic experience: I've been staying here for a few weeks now and it has been great! The staff is lovely and all the events organized in the hostel and in the bar downstairs makes it really easy to meet new people. I recommend it a 100% if you want to stop by Brisbane a few days because location is really convenient, or even to settle in longer and make new friends! Positive experience: Great location near the central station. The room is close to the street and has a bar, but I'm fine with that. I deducted two stars because on the last day, when I checked out, there was an issue with the water I couldn't use the toilet or shower. I was upset about that. Also, the room wasn't as clean as I thought it would be.

Negative experience: Booked online. No indication they will only let you stay here with your passport. They don't let Australians stay with their licence. Would not refund the online booking or help in any way. Worst Back Packers Ever

Fantastic experience: The hotel is a luxurious vacation destination with magnificent views and first-class amenities. The rooms are spacious and elegantly decorated and the staff is attentive and helpful. The location of the hotel is ideal for exploring the city and nearby attractions, cafes (restaurants) A truly enjoyable experience.

Negative experience: Overall pretty bad experience. Room and beds were dirty. They use the same duvets for everyone. After asking for a new clean duvet at the reception, they didn't even bring me one. Bathrooms and kitchen dirty too. Hostel is run down. Lots of the amenities don't even work properly. The kitchen is way too small for the amount of people. Zero space left for your food bags. I slept so bad because people are screaming all the time. And the Wifi didn't work in the bedrooms, only in the lobby and kitchen. The only advantage is the location of the hostel, pretty close to central station.

Negative experience: Prepaid for a deluxe room and got the tiniest room. My partner who has claustrophobia couldn't stay. We were there 30 mins total before checking out. And refused a refund on a 2 night stay that we didn't have. Do not recommend

Negative experience: Something different… Let’s try a more helpful review, I’ll highlight 5 major points for who this hostel is suitable for instead of who it isn’t! 1. it’s a great hostel if you’re an athlete. No-one likes ice bath day to rejuvenate your muscles and help with fatigue, luckily at this hostel you have no choice in the matter, the ALWAYS ice cold showers force you to commit. 2. IF ITS BROWN FLUSH IT DOWN, IF IT’S YELLOW LET IT MELLOW - most have heard this statement regarding saving water after using the dunny, so this is a great hostel if you care about excessive water wastage. 9 times out of 10, men in this hostel refuse to flush the toilet after urinating in the bowl, and the walls, and floor. So come here if you’re an environmentalist. 3. It’s a perfect hostel if you’re a woman, evidently, females in this hostel can use their own bathrooms, the disabled toilets and the men’s bathrooms, meaning you’re never without a restroom. (Men cannot under any circumstance use the women’s bathroom) 4. it’s ideal if you hate the constant presence of staff. Nothing is more annoying then staff killing the vibe of a party, but luckily here you can bounce through the hostel every night screaming and kicking people’s doors and not a single member of staff dare (or care?) tell anyone to chill, so enjoy yourselves at any time, have a fiesta in the corridors at 2 in the morning without fear of staff interrupting and telling you to be quiet! Who needs to sleep between the hours of midnight and 4am anyway? 5. For animal lovers! Cockroaches are kind of like animals, aren’t they? No? Well either way, this hostel provides every room with an endless supply of pets, if you consider cockroaches pets… I won’t discriminate against insects being pets if ‘All Nations’ doesn’t! Waking up to cockroaches EVERY night of the week is just the best. Seriously, I loved it.

Fantastic experience: Great hostel! Awesome vibe if you are travelling alone, they have heaps of events for solo traveler’s. The dunder bar is open 6 days a week and a restaurant right downstairs :) Definitely going to stay again!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely loved my stay in All Nations Brisbane! The staff are so welcoming and really make staying here so nice, its very homely. Rooms are nice and spacious and its located right in the center of Brisbane cbd and opposite the train station! Cannot recommend enough thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Fantastic experience: I absolutely loved my time at All Nations Brisbane. If you're looking for a really sociable hostel with plenty going on then this is the one for you. There's a free drink every night in the bar, free pancakes on a Friday and free food at the Sunday BBQ as well. The rooms were clean and the beds comfy and spacious. All the staff were really friendly and helpful and the rooftop is a nice little perk, too. If you're arriving from out of town then it's conveniently placed by the train station and central to all the shops, bars, and restaurants. Shout out to Dougie as well, the guy is a legend!

Fantastic experience: This hostel is home for so many, and right in the centre you really can’t complain! The management are the nicest hostel staff I have come across throughout south east Asia and Australia. I met a girl called Lauren who was single handedly holding down the maintenance of the old building while the main man was away. Shoutout to Chloe Beth Luca and dougie who went out of their way to make my stay memorable! Helped me with so much during my stay. Bathroom showers are hot and lots of pressure. Thanks guys! Will stay again long term for sure. Kitchen is a hostel kitchen lol but it’s done the job for many months.

Fantastic experience: Great backpacker hostel located right next to the train station and only a 10 minute walk to Roma Street station. Rooftop space and balcony is great for socialising. Also, the bar and club under the building are great for a night out with Wet Wednesdays and trivia night on Thursday.

Negative experience: - Location 5/5 the best thing about this place is it’s Location - Service 3/5 decent - The room was very basic so I would give it a 2/5 but it was at least clean. No aircon or heater. - only drawback about this place is it is rundown, feels like it has not been maintained. There was no toilet in level 4 and I had to go to level 5. - bathroom and toilet were equivalent to public restrooms/prisons. Which is the basic need - if they did some renovations and fixed it up a little by doing some maintenance repairs this place will have a higher rating. - my overall experience this place is for travellers who are in a very tight budget hence why it’s for backpackers.

Negative experience: The worst experience of my life, my first week in Australia was in this “hostel”. Expensive, old, noisy, dirty… Only one good thing, is in the CBD and the train station is very close.

Negative experience: The location is good, the price is not too expensive, but the environment is very dirty, there are no smoking signs posted everywhere, but there are people smoking everywhere, and someone directly started a party outside the door on the fifth floor, affecting the rest of other tenants. The bad thing is that the elevator is still broken. Living on a floor that the elevator cannot reach is very painful. It takes half my life to carry the suitcase. At the counter, there was only one person doing things, the other didn't know what to do. You need to download an app ‘’go ki’’ to use the key, it’s inconvenient; no shelf in the shower, dirty toilet, the room itself is poorly soundproofed, no air conditioning, fan not working.

Negative experience: My first day in Australia was horrible because of the service in this hostel. The tall lady at reception was so rude, 0 helpful!! My boyfriend made a mistake in our booking to put 1 person instead of 2. The only solution she gave us was to pay for a new room, we saw a private room online for $70 per night but she was giving us the double price if booking directly there, isn't that crazy?? and when I asked her to speak with the manager she just left us waiting for an hour without saying anything. I never had such terrible customer service while traveling. My boyfriend saw the room they were going to give us and it was in really bad conditions anyway. We had to go somewhere else.

Positive experience: I hope this place has improved as when I went there about 7 years ago the service was appalling (service person played with their phone for a good 30sec when he was in the middle of serving me!) and the rooms were very basic (no AC in summer in Brisbane)!

Negative experience: DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOSTEL- YOU WILL REGRET IT. This sleezy, dirty, characterless dump should be avoided at all costs. Staying in this hostel from hell is an act of self harm I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. Do yourself a favour and spend an extra $5 a night and book a YHA. Issues- Loud music playing until 3:30am which is so loud you can feel your dollar shop cotton pillow vibrating- you will not sleep. The windows are forced open and cannot be closed, so the noise is inescapable. Incredibly dirty, as pointed out in other reviews, bin bags and rubbish all over the place. Facilities are a joke- all male toilets and showers are out of commission on floor 4, so you have to walk down a floor every time, and even those are disgusting and manky because they’re being used by two floors. The kitchen is tiny and there isn’t enough seats, cutlery etc for the amount of people staying there. The lobby is tiny so don’t even think about that. I’ve seen that the owner says the hostel is under renovations- in reviews from 6 months ago. Who is it being renovated by, the three blind mice? Hostel events? The 2nd day of my visit was a wet T shirt competition. Ladies I hope you’ll enjoy being ogled by 30-40YO men in a dirty underground bar During my stay, the house staff thought my room was fully checked out as everyone else did apart from me. They therefore cut open the padlock on my locker, moved it to lost property, then gave me my stuff back in a cardboard box and a cheap tiny padlock as a replacement. They also lost a couple of my possessions. The same could happen to you as based on my conversation with the receptionist this isn’t the first time this happen. Imagine, all your stuff is moved about, lost, destroyed and what’s left is handed back to you in a vegetable box. Hostel has a strict no alcohol policy. Yet, you’ll find people casually smoking joints on the roof terrace with staff in sight. Isn’t it funny, if you bring a couple of cans of beer they’ll come down on you like the hammer of Thor so you’ll spend money at their grotty “bar”, yet if you want to take illegal narcotics in a communal area, you’re more than welcome to. WiFi didn’t work on the 4th floor The location is also a big plus, but the same could be said if you wanted to sleep on the street.

Negative experience: AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!! For the first time in my life, I cut short a stay in a place. As someone who has stayed in hostels around the world, this has to be the absolute worst. Pictures are totally misleading. Everything stinks of cigarette smoke, the rooms are not properly ventilated, they have grates on them (including the private rooms-making them not private), which means you can hear the entire hostel till all hours, not to mention the rooms being the size of a prison cell. Sheets had hair on them, lift and wifi don’t work (except in reception-so helpful), bathrooms are a health hazard and a night club in the basement makes a good nights sleep impossible. Would give no stars, but the one star is for the staff, who clearly have to try and paint lipstick on a pig. Anyone who is willing to take the risk of staying here (god help you if you do) make sure to get a flexible rate, so you can leave and get some money back. Truly awful!

Negative experience: This hostel was the worst hostel that I have stayed in during my backpacking trip here. Details follow: - Electricity sockets do not work in the rooms - The kitchen is not clean - The building is old with a long flight of stairs and very old lift that barely works and is dangerous with its old doors - The receptionists are very slow and the manager is very rude, when I was trying to check in, he was very rude to me and I felt very uncomfortable in the hostel I highly do NOT recommend staying at this hostel. There are far better ones in Brisbane.

Negative experience: Poor experience. The place was filthy, the lift often did not work so bad news if you’re on 4th floor upwards. The air con in most rooms did not work sufficiently, mould and holes in the wall, the toilets on my floor were blocked/out of order 24/7. The lack of care meant the carpets and pain on walls were falling apart and there’s no signs of that changing. The staff were unhelpful and quiet when we needed issues addressing and had questions about the area. The bar attached to the hostel smelt bad, was very dark and very uncomfortable. The location was decent but other than that a really poor experience. It’s worth paying the same price or a tiny bit more for a much more pleasant experience elsewhere. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone, it’s a shame nomads partner here.

Negative experience: Booked two single beds in a 4 bed mixed dorm. Got two single beds in two different 6 bed mixed dorms because "nah we are booked out sorry guys". We booked 3 weeks in advance. Entire house reeks of cigarettes and bad restaurant. Run down AC machines and filthy rooms. People arguing all night and permanent residents. Bed sheets werent cleaned at all, if you can even call them sheets. The blanket is just some wool blanket that hadn't been washed in ages. Ignore all the other reviews, this is the cheapest Hostel in Brisbane for a reason. Pay that extra 5$ more to not get 7 different illnesses.

Fantastic experience: The price was what attracted me to the hostel and now I've been here for almost 4 weeks and I don't want to leave. The people are just great, the rooms are really good and you have a lot of space. My favorite spots in the hostel are the roof terrace and the Bar. I highly recommend it!

Negative experience: Although the staff was welcoming, the place itself is really old and dirty, our room smelled really bad. The elevator was uncomfortable and malfunctioning. The free meals are a plus, but all things considered it’s not a place we could recommend.

Negative experience: The absolute worst hostel I ever stayed in. Everything is very old and really dirty, the whole place smelled bad. There were some extremely loud appliances in my room that made noise so sleep is impossible. Also no power outlets in the room (or not enough). I ended up sitting on the floor in the hallway, just to charge my phone. The Wifi also doesn't work properly. My food in the kitchen was stolen, this is the first time this happened to me (after 5 months of staying in hostels). Seriously just stay away from this place

Fantastic experience: Overall great experience staying here, the staff were really approachable and dealt with any issues straight away. They went above and beyond to make the stay comfortable, would definitely stay here again. The manager was great as well really good guy.

Fantastic experience: Have had a really fun stay here! The room was clean and and all the staff were really lovely. A girl called Beth helped us at reception with a couple queries as well as giving us a warm welcome. The only issue I can think of is a couple times we couldn’t find dishes to use in the kitchen as it was busy, but this is understandable and we got round it all ok :) Would defo stay here again!

Fantastic experience: I stayed for some nights here. I spent good times with my roommates. The kitchen is little but you have all you need. I had a problem between my suitcases and the company who was supposed to send them in my country. The team was understanding and helped me while I find a solution.

Fantastic experience: Stayed here a few weeks ago, as mentioned in previous reviews, the building is old and has its problems but they are undergoing maintenance work so this taken into consideration and I know it will be up to scratch soon! The hostel was maintained well and the beds were clean on arrival. We were checked in by a girl called Beth, she was friendly and helpful with any questions regarding the hostel and places to visit whilst in Brisbane - The staff we met were all friendly and willing to help which made our stay more comfortable. The only thing I will mention is that the kitchen is often busy which makes it hard to find all the utensils you need but that’s the same in any hostel we have stayed in. Wet Wednesday is a fun night out so recommended that too! Overall we would definitely visit again, the hostel gave us a fun, and homely experience which is all you can ask for when travelling and so far away from home.

Fantastic experience: Location is amazing, right opposite the central station and close to all the shops and clubs! I Was there for the wet Wednesday and trivia night, which was really great fun! The building is old and of course has its downfalls but they are currently doing construction work to improve so can’t fault them! The rooms were clean and all the staff were really friendly, I was checked in by a girl called Beth who was really helpful with explaining the facilities and convincing us to go and play the trivia! Will definitely be back to stay long term when I’m back in Brisbane to work! The hostel has a real homely vibe to it and a great team of staff across the board! Me and my friends really enjoyed our few nights here and can’t wait to come back and see the results of the improvements they are making to the building!

Positive experience: I’ve had a really good experience at this hostel. The customer service has been excellent, in particular Beth who he helped me out many times. The rooms are mostly really nice, with only one that I stayed in not having AC. The only thing that I would say needed improving is the toilets as some of them are very dirty and don’t all have locks on

Fantastic experience: I have been here for a few months now and it truly is not as bad as you think. You would have to put into consideration the age of the building. It used to be a people’s palace so it is a very old building. The kitchen is a good size so you don’t have to worry about people on top of you. The staff is always finding ways to improve our stay and are more than willing to accommodate for any mishaps. Housekeepers are very friendly and offer a change of sheets for long term guests which is very nice. The roof top is probably my favourite part of the hostel. It’s a big roof top with space for lots of people to sit and enjoy and mingle amongst others. Hostels are not 5 star hotels. It’s a safe place for travellers and backpackers to come along and stop by for however long and honestly for the price and the positive atmosphere that the staff always gives, I would stay in this hostel time and time again. Don’t knock it til you try it out.

Negative experience: Overall is great value for the location, just across from Central Station, Woolworths is opposite side and other places just in walking distance. Here is Heritage Building with cool elevator, nice rooftop, fine kitchen and common area. There is 24/7 reception which is quite good and safe. The room was in okay condition with sockets, wardrobe, bin and side table. Unfortunately, my single room has no air-conditioning or fan. This was really nightmare for travelers staying in the summer time. There are 4 men's toilets on the 4th floor, however one was blocked while the other has no door. So, only 2 toilets are available for the whole floor. In addition, they need a really good maintenance or renovation. Thus, if you are looking for a great location to stay i would highly recommended but if you are after fancy hostel, please go somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: Great location, two great bars, lovely rooftop to meet fellow travellers with instaworthy photos of Brisbane Skyline. Heritage Building with character and super clean bedding. Great value for the location just across from Central Station. Staff are always willing to accomodate any request they can help you with. It’s an older building with loads of charm but it’s super safe and as a female I appreciated the 24 hour reception. There’s free meals twice a week at the Down Under Bar and lots of fun to be had there too. Highly recommend xx

Negative experience: The place itself is alright if you got an air conditioned room. Yet it’s not really clean, facilities are bad and they don’t provide enough cutlery or kitchen utensils for everybody. Especially the bathrooms are a joke. Location is good. Edit: they somehow managed to get worse over two weeks. Facilities are dirty and not looked after, it smells everywhere like urine and everything is incredibly dirty and the “renovations” is just repainting worn off walls. Also wifi doesn’t work. Just pay a little extra and go to another hostel

Negative experience: Not enough plugs in the room not even a light or wall socket beside any beds. Absolutely disgusting bathrooms, majority of which are out of order, 3 working men’s showers and 3 men’s toilets for the whole hostel, and they are NOT cleaned. The only accessibility toilet has has the door ripped off!! Awful mattresses and bed frames. Smells damp and unclean (shock ) Ridiculously overpriced Unfortunately this is the standard in Australia, but please, do better.

Negative experience: Apparently there's no need for a plumber when plumbing breaks; guests can just go down to main floor. Parties till at least 3am in the lobby, forget sleep. Will not come back.

Positive experience: Location is fantastic - I booked a solo room. As it’s an old Queenslander / heritage building so be aware that the rooms are not sound proof and windows are always open - bring an eye mask and ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. This is a decently priced hostel with a great location right in the middle of the city. As said before it is an older hotel so if you are used to traveling in more modern hostels it may not be for you.

Negative experience: DO NOT STAY HERE! The photos online are deceptive and aren’t reflective of how it looks now, they fail to mention the flood and water damage it has suffered. I booked a week here for a getaway from cairns, to which I left after the 2nd night to stay somewhere else. The walls are peeling and exposed (poorly hidden behind some posters) the whole building smells musky, especially the rooms. My rooms carpet was moulding and peeling, the “air conditioning” is just a dehumidifier/cooler which can’t be adjusted, is on a timer and drips into a bucket underneath. It makes a hell of a racket so sleep was near impossible. The damp in the walls made me sick after the first night. The facilities were like a Russian gulag. Paper towel dispensers empty the whole time I was there, no water pressure in the taps. The showers have no privacy as after you’re finished you have to step out in the open to grab your towel. The kitchen was disgraceful. The balcony they brag about was shut indefinitely. Overall a poor experience. The lady who checked me in wasn’t rude but definitely was friendly. However the lady who checked me out and refunded my money was helpful so that’s a plus

Negative experience: I came with low expectations based on former reviews and those expectations were met! You’re not going to sleep til after 3am, though a perfect setup if you’re a party animal. It’s a shame nothings been touched since the place opened (it used to be a half way house), most run down, dirty hostel I’ve ever been in. Women’s toilet near our room had two cubicles, one was out of order the other had a constant stream of water from the back of toilet running in front of it so pack a good pair of thongs for any bathroom visits unless you want to catch a disease. Two stars for friendly staff and central location

Positive experience: Didn’t actually stay here but really appreciated the honesty of an email from Nomads explaining the situation following the recents bad weather ( damage to air con, late night maintenance noise etc). They suggested we could cancel if we wanted for free and get our money back. This has allowed us to find somewhere else which we really respect.

Negative experience: Great location, rooms are fairly grim, our air-conditioning unit was broken we had to empty the water it produced every day into the bathroom sinks, room faced inwards towards the "courtyard" meaning other people could see directly in to our room and vice versa. Fire alarm went off while we were there and I went downstairs to see what was happening, firemen were in the building when I went to the lobby, I went to go back upstairs to tell my friends we should leave the building and the manager forced me to leave saying " your friends will be told to get out" I waited outside for my friends to come down but they never did. When thr firemen left I went back to my room and asked my friends if they were told they should leave their room to which they replied no. Other people on that floor were also not told to leave, bit bad out if you ask me. Location was good though, the bar attached to the hostel is dire though and stank of sick. Showers have great pressure..

Positive experience: You get what you pay for I suppose. I only spent a night here during an overnight layover from an international to domestic flight. The nice fellow at reception checked me in, explained the whole bluetooth room key procedure and I was on my way within minutes. I stayed in the single room on the rooftop and though very small it was clean and adequate. My only complaint is noise, there is a nightclub next door to the hotel which can be heard from the lobby area even late at night. As for my room on the rooftop, noise again. I was unlucky enough to be right next to the roof vents and they were noticeably loud but not unbearable as I managed to fall asleep. Overall, for what I paid and the convenience of being right across from Brisbane Central Station, alongside the quirkiness of being in such a historic building, I was satisfied with my stay. Thanks.

Negative experience: If you are thinking of booking here, dont, this place is an absolute dump. The rooms and interior is old and beyond repair, paint peeling from the walls and fixtures falling down. Rubbish bags were often left in the hallway outside the elevator making it an escape hazard and presenting a disgusting smell. As for the noise you will be welcomed with doors being slammed constantly and late into the night. As well as a minority of rude and selfish guests that think its fine to be yelling and screaming outside peoples rooms at 2:30 in the morning. Each room has a open vent above the door so you can hear everything around you as well as having the corridor lights shine right into your room during the night. Quite frankly you would get a better night's rest sleeping on the street than you would in this place. Avoid at all costs.

Positive experience: My experience was not what I expected. I booked a room to myself...within 30 mins of relaxing on bed... I had a staff member knock & walk in like he was a cop. They mixed up my wrong room. No communication or friendliness & no apology. So I just left. Room was drafty cold anyway. Never had this in past travels.

Negative experience: Poor Hostel, there are three nice thing: friendly staff, cool elevator, nice rooftop terrace. Very dirty, and poor facilities, wholes in the walls, one socket per 6bed room, no lockers. It definitely needs renovation, and focus on cleaning

Fantastic experience: The rooms were clean and spacious and the receptionists were extremely friendly and helpful! There was a cool rooftop area and the general location was great too! The only downside was the kitchen was pretty dirty and crowded, dirty dishes piled up everywhere and a struggle to find anything clean to use, other than that it was great!

Negative experience: Very disappointed, we booked a private room, arrived early and left our luggages in the storage room, we came back at 3pm for the check in and the guy told us that our booking been cancelled, the "boss" doesn't want us to stay , with out any explanation we had to leave and find an other place to stay , impossible to talk with this "boss" that obviously wasn't there. I feel strongly disappointed, and two weeks ago checking in in the nomad of Byron bay the lady lost one of our passport for more than an hour and been very impolite. I think you guys need to improve your unfriendly and not professional staff .

Negative experience: The only good things I have to say about this hostel is the cheap price and the big rooms. Other than that there is so much work to do here. The rooms get freezing cold in the winter because the windows let in air even when closed, also it sounds like you are sleeing on the street with the traffic noise. In addition to that, the bar downstairs makes it almost impossible to sleep because you can hear the music through the whole building. The bathrooms are dirty with the floor constantly being flooded and only 2 showers properly working in the female bathroom on second floor. The kitchen looks disgusting and I wouldn't wanna cook in there. There is a lot potential in the building but it needs some serious maintenace and renovation work!

Negative experience: Worst paid stay anywhere ever! The room I got was a mess thanks to super stained carpets and chaotic occupants. No electrical outlet anywhere close to the beds so you take turns charging your devices by the window. Could not sleep the whole night due to earplugs-resistant noise from both in and outside the hostel. Imagine trying to sleep in a large hall shelter for drunk teenagers. Toilets were filthy in every sense of the word. I quickly abandoned my second night of stay due to overwhelming dysfunction.

Negative experience: If you want a hostel that is central and not too expensive I guess Nomads is the way to go. Other than that you should be prepared for noise!!! We couldn’t close our window so on Saturday nights you are basically part of a club until past midnight, plus it gets pretty chilly in the room as well. The amenities are okay, not the best not the worst. But be prepared: the kitchen is nasty. Very dirty and small. A big plus is the luggage storeroom, cause it’s spacious and not completely overfilled. Overall, the stay was alright. If street and extrem club noice are not a problem for you and you don’t expect too much from a hostel it’s a good, central place to stay. But otherwise, yeah naw.

Positive experience: Friendly helpful staff, clean bathrooms and showers, comfy clean beds and aircon included in the room. Only thing i didn’t like was there is a gap above the door acting as a window and you can hear guests quite easily.

Positive experience: Great centrally located hostel where you can actually book your own room. Very old building though with narrow corridors and tiny heritage lift with doors difficult to open. Not disability friendly.

Negative experience: This hotel is an old building. The room is looks old and not getting a good care but quite clean. The price is not that cheap but the shared bathroom and shower room is dirty. Although located in a good place, it's not recommended to stay here unless getting a really good deal (under $30)

Negative experience: Worst hostel I have stayed in. I felt like I was sleeping on the street as the windows were absolutely not soundproofed. Same applied to the door: I heard every word that was spoken on the hallway and people snoring in the rooms next doors. Everything felt filthy and dirty. Although cheap definitely not worth it as I barely was able to sleep.

Negative experience: Awful experience. Can't get through to anyone on the phone, rude staff, dirty place and lawless. We just walked in without the night staff checking who we were and then kept awake until 4am in the morning by people running riot. It's a shame because it has so much potential. But this is by far the worst hostel we've ever stayed at.

Negative experience: Checked in to a private room at 7pm and realised the lock was broken on the door, staff tried to get maintainance to repair it but they don't have them available at night, so was given the option of a refund or to sleep in the room with no lock which I was uncomfortable with. In the end I couldn't stay at the accommodation and had to seek other arrangements. I was very lucky I had a friend in Brisbane I could call on but many travellers don't have that option. The staff member was very professional and understanding, which was fantastic but there wasn't much she could do. The premises is quite dusty and noisy but to be expected for the price point. The heritage listed lift was rather scary to ride in and should be noted it isn't very accessible for disabled people as you have to pull back two heavy doors to operate it which would be very challenging while in a wheelchair, so keep that in mind if you or someone you're travelling with needs accessible accommodation. The luggage room did have a key and cameras however the key was left unattended when we returned so there's not really any security on that front. A better system might be to use the unique codes for phone check in on the door, that way they could keep track of who is using the room in the case of theft. I wouldn't stay with nomads again in future personally.

Negative experience: I stayed here years ago when it was called Base Backpackers, and I had high hopes it had changed since then. While I appreciate it is a heritage building, it is very outdated. The rooms weren't just cold, they were freezing and I shivered all night. The water was barely luke warm and the showers dribbled put at best. One shower was missing handles until my last night, leaving one shower for my entire floor. Some of the toilets don't lock. The walls were so thin that I could hear the people next door snoring and hear every 'ping' of their phone. There was also an open panel above the door, allowing all noise from the corridor to flow in, and some people were extremely loud at night.

Negative experience: The worst place to stay. I was robbed twice and at the reception they did nothing. The Hsk did not change the sheets or the dune covers so the next guest use the same linen. DISGUSTING!!! The rooms smell terrible. And the bathrooms are always dirty and the water is filtered on rainy days. I still regret not calling the police for the things I missed. The only good thing about this place is the location, but the insecurity is not worth it.

Positive experience: It's great for what it is, but you should be certain that it's a good fit for you. Not for fussy or introverted people. The location is amazing, staff are super helpful and welcoming, and you'll definitely be able to meet loads of interesting people & party it up. For the most part, other guests seemed really friendly and chill. Beds are surprisingly comfortable and though the building is old, I'm very pleased to report that I did not encounter any creepy crawlies at all. On the downside, it is a dorm with all the inconveniences of one. One bad roommate can change your whole experience, and having bathrooms located a long way from your room is pretty annoying, especially if you have a lot of cosmetics. Shower room had windows constantly open, so it was pretty chilly at times. Shared facilities are tolerably clean, but could definitely be better. My own experience ended up being pretty bad because I was too busy with bridesmaid business to enjoy the social perks of the place and I got a roommate who didn't have the common sense not to bring male hook-ups to the female-only "sanctuary" room. If you want to be sure that you don't encounter any strange dudes in your room at five in the morning, just book a private room. Kudos to staff for their handling of the situation.

Positive experience: It was good as it was a one night stay. Warm doona blankets available also. Cheap hostel that will keep you warm for winter months in Brisbane. I stayed in June 2022 and it was unusually very cold of a morning and at night. Accmodates 400+ people and they have girls dorms. A very old building but groovy. Bathrooms need a facelift overall and better cleanliness in some not all bathrooms Very close to tourist attractions and shopping if you like this.
