Negative experience: Dropped in here for an iced coffee about 2 years ago, halfway through my walk through Kedron Brook to Toombul and back to Lutwyche. Service was average when ordering, but worse when my drink came out. A surly, pretentious looking guy dumped it on my table and sauntered off. No eye contact, no dialogue, no nothing. His condescending demeanour was as though me paying for a drink was an inconvenience for him. There were no other customers in the store and nobody else at the counter waiting to order either. Haven’t been back since- plenty of other options in the area without the attitude. Unsurprised to see others also giving 1 star, and some being tone policed for it. Gross.

Negative experience: *FAIR REVIEW - The business is very rude and irresponsible, you can tell by their spoilt childish response. They are also not telling the truth, feel free to go there and verify my review* We came like 8Ks only to find out most of the items on the menu on Maps are not available. The cashier said they aren't making proper breakfast(Avocado toast, Smashed Avo, Acai Bowl...) for 3-4 years now. They surely can remove those items from their page. Looks like they are deceiving people to come to the cafe first, and then they're having to eat whatever is available. They were rude and unapologetic when I asked about it. High reviews are from a long time ago, but now, a super-ordinary place at best.

Negative experience: 3 of us went for lunch and had jaffle, for what we payed we expected alot more. Hardly any chicken, pineapple or onion in the jaffle. Very disappointing for the price. Coffee was nice but won't bother with another visit.

Fantastic experience: The travel Team at Barrow & Bear were incredibly helpful organising all my travel needs. They went above and beyond getting me the best deals, prices with many suggestions/ recommendations with the limited time I had available. Definitely my go to and couldn’t recommend enough. I had the pleasure of meeting the owners Callum & Matt while ordering my coffee & bite - who were exceptionally down to earth, accomodating and enjoyed a good laugh &chat. Hands down the best coffee and bagels in Brisbane !

Fantastic experience: So great having this place in my neighbourhood. Grab my morning coffee here pretty much everyday (and a cheeky toastie). The lads who own the place and their team are always up for a chat and a laugh. Good coffee, solid banter and friendly neighbourhood vibes. Would 100% recommend if in need of caffeine and sugar fix.

Negative experience: The coffee is great but yesterday they would not serve my coffee in a mug as the dishwasher was broken They had clean mugs on the register..not good service...won't go back in a hurry!

Fantastic experience: Usually I love the coffee at Barrow and Bear but unfortunately today a staff member returned to them who makes not very good coffees at all. I think she needs to do a Barista course to teach her about how to get a great crema on top of the coffee. She hardly gets any at all, and then to top it all off, she overfills the cup with too much milk. So you end up with a very weak coffee and way too much milk which drowns out the coffee taste (fills it to the very top of the takeaway cup and you have to pour some off to make sure it doesn't spill through the lid). I usually walk away and go to the coffee shop in Edinburgh Castle Road if I see she's the barista for the day. As I said I'm sure a course as a Barista would do wonders to her coffee making skills.

Fantastic experience: This is my third international trip with Barrow and Bear and the first one since covid. The process from start to finish was totally seamless. I felt like I had my own personal agent focussed solely on me alone, with the way the communication was so fast and clear. We were able to chat back and forth via email really easily, sharing links to various points of interest and tours to consider for my booking. Shylah was so great about offering me options to flights, accom and tours, and being able to quickly find alternates if there was anything I needed to change my mind on. She has experience with my locations and was able to offer me some on the ground options and activities that I might not have found on my own. I even sent one of our friends her way, who decided to join us for the majority of our trip, and she managed to get him into our hotels and return flights, at request, so we can spend time together like we had all hoped. Really really happy with everything - prices, experience and most especially the relaxed way I could just email her with "... oh hey, one more thing - I think I want to add this, or change this." and she was always on top of it dame day. She even gave us a heads up on where we could buy tickets ourselves to get a better time slot or price, which was so refreshing that we ended up saving money for a whole other tour! Just thrilled. Payment process was easy and seamless. I kept a record of everything - and was thrilled to see it all matches perfectly to what I had budgeted for. Cannot reccommend highly enough as a boutique and hands on travel experience. I will only book with B&B going forward. xx K

Fantastic experience: Barrow & Bear helped us book our trip to Hamilton Island pretty last minute. The process was seamless including when I decided last minute to go for an additional day which meant a change of flights and change to accommodation. Callum was so easy to deal with, quick with replies and gave us a all the documents we required compiled and in an envelope we could keep. Can't recommend him and Barrow & Bear highly enough.

Fantastic experience: Barrow & Bear helped us plan our first holiday in almost two years (thanks COVID). We embarked on trip to Tasmania in May. It was incredible. I had been hesitant to work with another travel agent since our last experience (we won't go there), but I think it's safe to say that Callum and his team are stuck with me now. We had a pretty specific idea of where we wanted to go, and they made it happen almost instantaneously. It was easy. They worked around a specific self-book-only location we've had our eye on for many years, planning the rest of our trip to enable it. Before we skipped off across the Strait, Callum personally walked me through our itinerary. Everything we could possibly have needed was there. All we had to do was walk onto the plane. Thank you for creating a wonderful and much needed holiday escape for us.

Fantastic experience: First time here and we loved it. It was quite a pleasant experience. We were greeted by this lovely staff member. She was all bubbly, friendly and welcoming. I grabbed a large skinny cap while my boyfriend got a medium soy flat white. My cappuccino was delicious and my partner loved his flat white, that rich soy flavor. They have a fairly big variety of treats with gluten free and vegan options available. The interior looked very homey and cozy. It is a neat and adorable cafe to have a coffee and date at. We will be going back for their treats and potentially a meal some other time. Thanks for the great coffee and service.

Fantastic experience: This is my new favourite cafe and breakfast place on the north side of Brisbane! We had a fantastic coffee and breakfast here and felt really welcome. Calum and Matt were amazing hosts and it was great having a chat with you. I also purchased some candles while we were there and they are sensational, filling the house with an amazing scent. I highly recommend dropping in here for some food and a coffee or grab some takeaway.

Could not have had better travel agents to work with. Give yourself a break, and get them to help you with your travel plans! While you are there, take time to experience the coffee, too. It is out of this world!

Negative experience: Service can be very slow and you really need to make sure you check what you have ordered when paying because the male staff can be very self righteous and rude when you don’t get what you did order and charge more .Going elsewhere now!

I should caveat this review with the fact I only go here for coffee on the weekend but my wife won't let me go anywhere else because she loves the coffee. It is always good coffee, they have a range of juices and food, but I have never sampled the food. Service is always quick and pleasant. The fact I am in there every weekend warrants a "loved it"
