Negative experience: Terrible experience with the staff Jane, I have some enquiry with my recent claim, she’s saying she does not have any access to check and advised that I need to contact insurance line totally hopeless! If RAA does not provide services in shop why not just shut it down and if your company in your shop do not have access to check definitely these is some issue in the operation which does not make sense for the largest insurance company in SA.

Negative experience: Staff was dismissive and uninterested in keeping a client. RAA wanted double what the current homeowner is paying for the same property (also with RAA) and they refused to give an explanation for the cost other then it is what it is. Thus, we will be moving our insurance elsewhere.

Negative experience: I went into the RAA shop to ask some questions and to seek help with making a claim and, rather than actually help me or answer my questions, your staff handed me a card with a phone number to call. I knowingly pay a premium to be with RAA because of their premium service, and to support an SA business. If this is the direction your service standard is heading (ie to be like budget insurance providers and have friendly in person sale staff for new customers and everything else online/via phone for existing customers), I’ll be taking my insurance policies with RAA elsewhere.

Negative experience: If I could give zero stars, I would. This would be the first branch I’d rate that low. I am not impressed by the older female staff member who sits alone at the desk inside. If they don’t have the heart for customer service, they should quit and stay home. Don’t come to work with such a high ego and throw books in a customer’s face like that. She also gave me incomplete advice, causing me to pay double the price. If it weren’t for the new staff who advised me later, I would never have known that they were shamelessly overcharging me for insurance.

Negative experience: Do not use RAA if you want to efficiently speak to an operator or receive information about an existing claim. It's taken me 5 calls and over 2 months of waiting with no progression on my insurance claim at all. Worst insurance I've ever used. Highly don't recommend.

Positive experience: i have been a member of the RAA for many years. One of the major problems is communication. It is very difficult to get past the automated voice and get to speak to a real human . Nevertheless , I have benefited from Roadside Assistance and found RAA ,Home insurance very helpful. However I have recently had a very stressful and frustrating experience relating to my car insurance claim.

Fantastic experience: Paid for the repair after I hit a kangaroo in the country. Acknowledged their mistake on the pre purchase inspection and paid for my brake pads as a gesture. Approved repairers work with them independently after you provide your policy number. These guys are a credit to South Australians. 5 stars to RAA.

Negative experience: My recent experience with RAA's Total Loss Department has left me deeply disappointed. Despite a minor accident, the lack of communication and empathy displayed by RAA has been shocking. After being assured my damages would be covered, I was left in the dark for over a week, only to discover my car had been deemed a total loss without any notification. Despite numerous attempts to contact RAA, I received no apology or explanation for the oversight. During my call with the Total Loss representative, I was met with indifference and blame-shifting, instead of acknowledgment for their shortcomings. This dismissive attitude is unacceptable. Furthermore, my concerns about the undervaluation of my recently purchased car were brushed aside, further adding to my frustration. This experience highlights systemic issues within RAA's communication and customer service practices that need urgent attention. Negative experience: Beware of using RAA Trade assist. It is a third party supplier and RAA receives a commission. Called to get an airconditioner repaired. Waited over 2 weeks for technician to come but thought that was OK as it was summer and airconditioner repairers were probably very busy. After agreeing with my interpretation of the fault from the flashing light indicators ... a faulty sensor, I was advised that it would be costly to repair and due to age of the unit it would be wiser to purchase a new unit. On reflection this was probably the correct and good advice. Verbal quote for Daikin 8.5kw split system back to back installation to replace the old Fujitsu unit ... unit cost $3500 and installation $1800. This advice was delivered in less than half an hour for a cost of $180. The technician wore an identity badge with RAA prominently displayed. Having now carefully read the conditions of RAA Trade Assist I understand that it is a third party that pays a commission to RAA for referrals and is nothing to do with RAA and RAA takes no responsibility for the operations of RAA Trade Assist. I thought the installation quote was excessive and so I did what I should have done in the first place.... I contacted Daikin online and arranged for a technician. The advice was that the old unit could be fixed but because it was 16 years old there could be more repairs in the near future. A new unit was suggested as the better way to go .... this did confirm the RAA Trade assist advice but the quote and final invoice was very much different. The old unit was removed and a new Daikin 8.5kw split system reverse cycle unit was supplied and installed for the total price of $3400. My experience has taught me that it is best to not engage with RAA Trade Assist.

Negative experience: My partner bought his two kids Event gold class vouchers through RAA as they had never been before. He is the best dad ever and only wanted to give his kids a new experience. Not a cheap present either so he never dreamed they would only be valid for 6 months, plus nowhere on the RAA's website does it state how long they are valid for! I don't know any other company who have vouchers valid for such a short period of time! Plus they live around an hour's drive away from the closest Gold Glass cinema so it's not something which can be arranged at a whim. When he called RAA only 6 weeks after their expiry, their response was simply "too bad". No customer service whatsoever or even compassion shown that it's a lot of money down the drain, especially in this cost of living crisis! I know businesses have to have policies in place and consistently adhere to them, but what sort of business have vouchers which expire so quickly and make it difficult to find that information... one with no morals and bad business practices!

Negative experience: A rather unfriendly and unhelpful staff member attended to my needs which I had already found out about on the phone on 24/12. He insisted if i purchased a premium RAA membership for my son it would have to be added to mine as a direct debit in order to be given the $10 off family discount.Unacceptable regardless if that is the rule as i also have RAA landlord insurance to which these rules don't apply. Unfortunately as there isn't another option for road service and I'm generally happy with the RAA as a member for decades I had to put up with this very stupid condition re giving a family member a RAA membership for Xmas and supposedly getting a rather small discount of $10.Didn't bother arguing as just didn't want to waste my breath.

Negative experience: In some words.. TOOTHLESS TIGER and INEFICIENT. But ok for road break downs, I hope? Communications with them is a task in itself. On the phone lenghty wait akind to Government Centrelink. Sending in an email mail regarding concerns raised x2 without a response let alone an acknowledgement. This is not what one could regard as customer servicce.

Negative experience: Thank you for leaving my wife and I stranded by the side of the road for 11 hours in sub-zero temperatures after receiving a police emergency call ... and for ignoring the next 3 calls from the police ... and not showing up at all. We were in a location without any phone reception except the emergency phone. Eventually I hitched a ride to do a 120km round trip to resolve the issue myself. I've been an RAA member for years ... I didn't realise what a useless operation you run. RAA = Rubbish At Assisting

Fantastic experience: Accidentally I locked my car key inside the car last Sunday night , contacted RAA, the Parol 298 Jules showed up quickly, with great patience he used some special hand tools and spent around half an hour to reach the key and then got the door unlocked ! Negative experience: Had car insurance and home and contents with RAA, have since cancelled both due to terrible service. They kept taking my money for months after I cancelled my home and contents insurance so I definitely wouldn’t trust them. Had our first car accident so lodged a claim online, the website said they’d be in contact within a certain timeframe. However no one contacted within this timeframe. You pay insurance for years without claiming, if your insurer can’t fulfil their promises, especially simple ones like this, you should leave. Found the claims department difficult to deal with and get information from. A crash repairer ended up telling us exactly how to handle it and who to call. Spoke with the other parties insurer who provided quick and amazing service and would call when they said they would. Cancelled my claim as it wasn’t needed and am now insured with the other parties insurer, due to the service difference. I then cancelled my home and contents insurance in January. If RAA couldn’t provide adequate service in a small fender bender I’m not trusting them if I lose the house. Thought it was all sorted. However in April received a reminder that my RAA policy was going to auto renew. Rang them, they said they didn’t have any notes on my file about me calling in January and that I was still being charged. I explained I did call and had evidence of it, they said they would look into the call recordings. Low and behold they found the recording of me cancelling so they refunded it from January. Horrifying that you can’t trust them to cancel a policy when they say they would and continue taking my money for months after. Horrifying because you need to rely on your insurer when you’ve lost everything and the RAA proved themselves to be very unreliable. The person who handled my refund was great, markedly no apology though. Also the refund only covered the money they took and not any interest I would’ve made off the money, so I still lost money as result of their ineptitude.

Negative experience: Car was cleared by RAA inspection that had a major transmission fault. The inspection certificate doesn’t really mean anything.

Positive experience: Called into the Grenfell St office. Seems to be more of a call centre travel agency than general member services. Asked reception about an insurance issue and was given a phone to talk to someone, 50 min wait on hold!

Fantastic experience: I had a gentleman named Darren come out to help me with my car, and he was so helpful. He took the time to show me the problem and explain to me in layman's terms what the issue was and why it was an issue, and what needed to be done going forward. His service was practical and efficient with great communication skills.

Negative experience: Contacted RAA trade assist after water damage appeared on my ceiling. My details were then sent to their only roofing contractor CCMS. After about two weeks I had a CCMS tradesperson attend. I showed him the water damage in three areas of the ceiling and they subsequently went up to investigate. After 10mins they came down and told me they couldn’t identify the cause. They gave me two options: 1. Remove all flushing and refit it. As this would require the air-con unit to be removed the estimate was a few thousand dollars. 2. Re-silicone the joins for about $600 He further explained that as they couldn’t identify the issue there would be no warranty as they could not guarantee any of the work would actually fix the problem. I then independently contacted a roof maintenance contractor, who promptly attended, and identified the issue immediately. The flushing had come away from the wall in exactly the same places as the internal ceiling damage. He repaired it all for $400 with a warranty and guarantee. I won’t be using RAA trade assist in future and will avoid CCMS.

Fantastic experience: As an Adelaide girl living in Melbourne, they still honour my policy which is cheaper in Adelaide than here in Melbourne. That says alot. Great customer service and no long waits on the phone. Well done RAA.

Negative experience: My son has a Nissan Qashqai which had stopped for no apparent reason. Called the RAA and they came out and said the alternator was faulty and needed to be replaced. My son had to buy a new alternator - new from Nissan around $800, an aftermarket unit from interstate was $180 so got that. Arrange to get a mechanic to install it only to discover the alternator definitely wasn't working but it was due to a broken fan belt - a very cheap fix. Now he is stuck with an alternator which is not needed. How sad that something as simple as the broken fan belt was not picked up by a professional organisation. Why pay all that money every year only to be dudded when something simple goes wrong. RAA, I challenge you to respond!
