Negative experience: I believe the insurance company has judged the situation very unfairly. The person who collided with me was very dishonest. I never cut in front of them — the reason my car's left turn signal is on in the video is because I intended to exit from the Leach Highway off-ramp. We live in Applecross and always use that exit to get onto the highway. In any case, we have canceled our insurance with you, for which we were paying $188 monthly. We believe we are fair customers and prefer to work with honest insurance companies. You can continue trusting your customers who are liars. Our Mercedes was repaired at minimal cost, because as you know, we own a car dealership and have skilled panel beaters and painters ourselves. The main reason we pursued this matter was never about money — we just wanted you to know not to place your trust in dishonest people. At the end of the day, you are the one who lost by losing a customer. Wish you all the best.

Fantastic experience: I just had the most wonderful calling experience with RAC’s customer service, thanks to their amazing representative, Alex. Out of all the call centre agents I’ve ever spoken to, Alex is truly the best. He was incredibly patient, full of positive energy, and genuinely friendly throughout the entire conversation. He took the time to listen carefully, answered all of my questions with clarity, and made me feel completely supported. Negative experience: If you are or have been a victim of domestic violence and are insured with RAC for your insurance please be vigilant that they will not support you or your rights if your policy "co-owner" cancels your policy, changes your bank details or alters your policy in any way. RAC will not notify you, the only way you will know is if you go onto your online profile and notice your policies are missing or have been altered. You may drive around for weeks without car insurance, because the "co-owner" cancels the insurance on the car you own and when you do realize, you have to plea to RAC to reinstated the cancelled policy you had so you aren't paying twice the amount on the new policy they are trying to make you sign onto. This is the main policy owner that has been actively covered by RAC for over 8 years, where they have added someone onto their car policy as a co-driver and have misunderstood that the other party has been added as a "co-owner" of the policy when they were asked to be added as only a co-driver. To have that person removed from your policies, you must start a whole new policy for your car, home and contents erasing any loyalty or policy benefits you have obtain during the time with them. Each policy then increases by over $120 per month. You could ask the police or your lawyer to have this person removed from your policy as a "co-owner" but when this "person" is a grandiose narcissist and does what they like and your insurance company is happier to look after them, you will not get anywhere. Regardless of the times you have tried to reason with them and put complaints in.

Negative experience: Was given advice on membership via phone which was incorrect. At a later date on realising the error I asked to raise a complaint and was given the run around before eventually being raised. The complaint was eventually responded to stating we apologise for giving incorrect information but there is nothing we will do for you

Negative experience: What a joke! RAC cant even pay $777 invoice to the towing company to transfer my car to be repaired!! Its been one month, and my car is still stuck!! they never reply to my email too! They only do phone calls with no accountability that they will do what they do! No receipts or email reply!! Negative experience: After having 3 cars and home and contents insurance for many years with RAC we missed a renewal on the home a contents by just a few days. Today I called to make the payment and was told that it would now have to treated as a new policy rather than continuing and a new quote done. So I asked for a quote on exactly the same (expecting the same or marginal price increase). The increase offered was 56% higher than the price if I’d paid on time (4 days ago). I asked to speak to a supervisor and was given a flat no. I asked for a formal complaint to be raised and was told that a note would be put on the file but it won’t make a difference. I asked to speak to a manager and was told not to bother as she guaranteed they wouldn’t listen anyway. Complete fail RAC we will move all 4 policies at the first opportunity

Negative experience: *Joke of a Home Insurance Company. Stick To Car Insurance* There was a flood at home and 3 bedrooms were affected, the other areas of the house were usable. 5 months on and the 3 bedrooms rooms are still uninhabitable and 3 of us are crammed into 1 room. Instead of focusing on the bedrooms, priority was given to living areas. When skirting was installed and cleaners arrived, I questioned why the skirting was going in before carpets and was told "this can in before" like I'm an idiot. A week goes by and I hear from no one and all work has halted. I query when the bedrooms will be finished and discover RAC have signed off as job complete. How do you forget to schedule in work to the main areas that were affected?!! Meanwhile bedrooms are uncarpeted and the built in robes are in pieces with the mirror doors precariously leaning against the walls. DO BETTER

Negative experience: My mum has been with rac for house and car for over 30 years they rejected a claim for water damage to cabinets because the first person came out 1 week later and said the kitchen was dry even though a second person came out and left machines in place for 3 days total 24 hours running to get all the moisture to be completely dry which he only set up after finding moisture no second report was given and RAC refused to acknowledge that there was a second person and also told us to stop the leak whilst we waited for one of their guys to come and inspect. Your better off keeping your money because if they can't pay for some cupboards for all that loyalty they will find any excuse not to pay.

Fantastic experience: Tonight, 21/12/24, around 7pm I rang RAC Roadside Assistance. A young man assisted me over the phone. He was very nice, well spoken, didn't sound rushed and listened carefully re the difficulty of people locating my Unit/address, due to the confusing names between "Street" & "Close" bearing the same name and being within the very same location, causing confusion for anyone who doesn'tlive here in this Complex. He kindly noted all my directions down and sent me an RAC mechanic; waiting time was approx 60 minutes. Not long after that, within half an hour, a very nice young mechanic arrived, using RAC reg car "826". He was so respectful, very helpful and fully understood how I panicked about my little old car's issues. I wish ALL roadside assistants could be like him! If at any time at all I will need RAC's help again, I shall surely ask if car "826" is on duty as I'd give him 5* hands down... So far, he's only the 2nd mechanic who's been so very understanding about my car problems, my age and situation. Thank you, RAC for sending him to me and THANK you, kind young man, for having been so very, very kind to me Sadly, the Albany Hwy workshop does not seem to have good ratings, so I've read AND experienced personally : (

Fantastic experience: Not sure what branch... But on the phone today, a bloke called Andrew went above and beyond for me. He managed to lock in a tow pickup and place in repair shop when I was really struggling to find somewhere that will take it in as all companies are closing over Christmas. While having a bad couple of days with dealing with this car accident he made things alot easier for me, not all heroes wear capes. If I knew where he worked I'd drop the man a carton of his choice.

Fantastic experience: Entered in the office, well welcomed by the acceuil and then served by a nice guy (I forget how it was written was it Parjeet ?). We discussed about the difference between CTP (rego), TFI, TF and roadassistance. I took the best option as I will roam in WA with my van. Hope I not realy have to call for any accident, but now I'm confident with my car, knowing that I'm inssurred.

Negative experience: RAC have been sending letters to different people at my address for years now despite me returning each one with " not at this address". They keep coming despite the fact that this address did not even exist before we moved here and changed the address from the front to the back of the house. We have rung them and explained the situation which they ignore. What an incompetent bunch! What a waste of customers money and paper!

Negative experience: Atrocious, dishonest during claim. Me: "sunroof fault occurs when car is moving". RAC: "we'll test it stationary." No fault = No fix. REALLY!! I went with RAC expecting reasonable, fair & honest dealings. I received "let's find a supercial reason to say 'No' and hope he gives up." That won't happen, I've a totally fair & reasonable claim and happy to take it to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority afca.com.au.

Negative experience: We have been waiting over 3 months for a travel insurance claim to be processed. You can’t speak to an advisor. Every time we ring, we get told it will be noted on the file, but nothing actually get done. Meanwhile we are thousands of dollars out of pocket and in debt. Fantastic experience: Fabulous roadside assist technicians and wonderful call centre staff who are always so helpful. Had issues with my car and needed it towing to get fixed. Had it towed on a Sunday, booked into a service centre to be looked at.. I can't fault their service and have been with them for years. Even swapped my car insurance to them.

Negative experience: I completed an online quote for car insurance which after providing all the relevant details was quoted a price which I accepted. When it came to payment the amount increased significantly without any explanation. I decided to call and was given a confusing explanation about a ‘live environment” vs something else which didn’t make any sense at all but no explanation about why the huge price difference? The process completely lacked transparency a fundamental requirement in any insurance transaction. As a respected member organisation I expected better!

Negative experience: Up to now I have been happy with the RAC I’ve been a member for more than 40years But the customer service I just received capped off what has been a bad customer experience After 35 mins on the phone not getting answered to an enquiry I sent 2x through through the contact form on the webpage They sent me through to a supervisor I had to ask where she was working from because the communicstion was not like something I have ever had in WA. She kept interrupting me. I asked her to stop doing that so she could hear what I needed help with but it just kept happening It was horrible I got talked over again and again I would wait for her to finish. Then I would try again and again she would interrupt me and keep talking. I felt totally ridiculous for someone in Australia in customer service at a supervisor level She was not acting culturally appropriate for the location she was servicing. Negative experience: Junk Insurer, Junk Assistance. I arranged a rental through RACWA while my car was having some repair work done. The hire was for 3 days through Budget Bunbury, WA. I was provided a booking reference. I went to Budget Bunbury where I was given a form- Rental QualificationForm (Debit/Credit Card) I refused to complete it as it required information about a clients employer. Im retired. They then isisted I provide my Drs detasils or of another person with whom I deal. This being as stated by the Indian Staff in particular the manager. So that we can find you if you steal my$70000 car. There was no way I was going to agree nor sign a declaration agreeing to the relaease of that information to a debt collector, vehicle recovery service ot law enforcement. I rang RACWA seeking a resololution it must have been Indians day out as I copped more of them, they were also unhelpful insisting that I complete the form, they indicated they would call Budget Bunbury, after being on hold listening to inane music I terminated the call. I rang back shortly after and got yet another Indian call centre operator. This individual stated they had tried to ring me back to which I responded there are no missed calls on my phone. She then stated there was an email sent and to read that. I advised I dont do email on my phone. I then insisted on speaking to a supervisor/manager. His only interest was in telling me that Budget were there preferred provider and that they would not be asisting me with a hire vehivle from another firm. His only interest was in preserving the somewhat suspect relationship between RAC and Budget, one can onmly conclude it was monetary issue and not about the client or client satisfaction. On my return home I rang RAC Insurance and spoke to a young lady who when i explained the situation giggled and laughed, not a good look. The end result being I canceled the hire car component of my vehicle insurance. about $123.00, inc gst per annum the premium wil come down,. While RACWA have this attitude toward their clients and a closed shop relationship with Budget, some may suggest cartel like behaviour or similar paying for hire car coverage is a wast of your hard earned dollars. Dont do it. Over the life of having insured with RACWA that money for hire car cover even averaged over 20years would have paid for a lot of car hire fees. It is nothing more than a junk insurance component. On a rating of 1 to 10 If I could give them zero for client care, satisfaction and service delivery I would do so. I will be moving on and for less than the cost of the car hire cover I can get a better deal elswhere where I chose the care hire firm. I wil be taking my house and contents insurance with them. Junk insurer.

Negative experience: Rac has changed for the worse. They make it so hard to make a claim and then they try and get out of paying saying that certain things are not covered. If you have a fence and it get damage in a storm. They won’t cover fixing the fence. They say the only pay for the panels. What’s the point if you don’t cover all the fence. My neighbour is with another company and had no issue. Also got a quote for another policy and given the wrong information. They customer service have no idea what they talking about and then they won’t cover the policy. This company is terrible to deal with. Been a long customer of them for over 20year. But they have changed to poor service and poor policies where they don’t cover what you get the policy for

Negative experience: Very poor experience with RAC car insurance. They say they don’t cover tow trucks only ones they send but they actually do. They caused undue stress to me telling me I HAVE TO PAY FOR TOWING EVEN THOUGH I WASNT AT FAULT IF I DONT USE A CERTAIN TOW TRUCK and eventually told me the truth (20mins later) that I can use whoever I want. I pay my insurance and they act like they hold all the cards straight after a car accident and actually lie to you so they can either save money or make extra money ontop. Beware of the after hours contact it’s a towing company not actually RAC claims. Lesson learned. No concern for my welfare either. I would give 0 stars if I could.

Negative experience: For a start RAC TRAVEL well it really isn't Rac travel ,it's Tokyo marine & what a hassle to deal with ,never again it's pretty deceiving letting clients think there insured with your company especially when there houses, cars & contents are with you guy's, & you've been great so far but my wife & myself will never be getting travel insurance from RAC again, you don't cover it so stop selling the policies for Tokyo marine they are the worst company 'to be covered by .Regards K&J wade Perth WA

Fantastic experience: I would like to commend Carol from Team 6 who assisted me over the phone around 6pm, she went above and beyond to genuinely listen and provide me with the correct and useful information. I was on the phone a few hours prior to Carol and did not have a great experience with some of the other operators. The lack of care and interest from these operators nearly drove me away from RAC completely after being with them for years. Thanks to Carol I have regained some trust that there are people who are still willing to do their job and care for the clients they assist. I hope this reaches the relevant people and acknowledges Carol for the efforts she has given.

Negative experience: This Lady on the Phone Had One Job to explain what you get when you join she could't even explain to me the full cover and what you get, she was trying to move me on and saying to read the booklet they provide if i want to do that i would have just gone on Line but needed some more details but she did not want to listen Absloute Disscusting service, Now I Will Look for a better company to assite me. Negative experience: I’m quite disgraced with RAC. I have been with RAC for years and have paid them thousands and thousands of dollars in insurance. Someone destroyed my bike and I had theft insurance on my bike through RAC (or so I thought). Went to make a claim and found out that RAC had cancelled my policy months prior. I was furious, they had made no attempt to email me or call me. So now I am out $5,000 because they chose to cancel my policy without warning. The worse part is that this could have been a lot worse, I could have had a worse accident and not be covered. This is very frustrating, currently I have house insurance, bike insurance, landlord insurance and car insurance and now I have to make the effort to call up, cancel them all and change insurers as I can’t trust that they will pay out. My parents and brother has been with RAC for decades and they have their own business and now after this they’re all changing their insurer which is hard for them as my brother also has house insurance, landlord insurance, van insurance on all 6 of his work vans, bike insurance and his personal car insurance and my parents have about 6 things insured through RAC. I guess it’s time to change, I guess they’ll end up losing more money than me as my family has forked out lots of money as we trusted this insurer. Each year we are paying them around 30-40k, but they don’t care about their customers, right? Very disappointed

Positive experience: BEWARE of an RAC representative calling to magnanimously offer a 'free' upgrade to your regular roadside assistance package for the rest of the current year's membership. It sounds good. But they forget to say that all future auto renewal payments will be at the higher price. A sneaky upsell method. Shameful. Thankfully the Roadside support is TERRIFIC. All RAC assistance drivers are helpful.

Negative experience: Do NOT trust this mob. They "upgraded" my pensioner mother's roadside assistance without her consent, attempting to charge her nearly double what she usually pays. They increased MY home and contents insured amounts WITHOUT asking and tried to charge us hundreds more than we usually pay. CHECK your renewal amounts or you'll pay for it.

Negative experience: Disgusting effort. We had a leak come into our laundry from the roof from a recent storm and we were knocked back on our claim because they blamed it on a ceiling fan in the bathroom. The bathroom has no damage whatsoever (where the ceiling fan is), and the fan has been there for the past several years with no effects. I had my son get up onto the roof with a hose and there was water running in from two places on the roof under the solar heater. The storm had obviously lifted the heater and broke at least two tiles which has caused the leak. It therefore falls under storm damage, but they claim it to be a maintenance issue. We'll be taking our five insurance policies elsewhere. Avoid these ripoff merchants at all costs, just read the reviews and that should be enough for you to steer clear. I just wish we had done the same thing before transferring from a slightly higher insurer, thinking that we would save money. Now this is going to cost us more to repair. Walk away, whatever you do. This company is not worth the anguish. A similar issue has just happened to a workmate, he wishes to remain anonymous so I'll refer to him as Blue. He was rear ended by a driver who wasn't paying attention whilst stopped at a set of traffic lights. The vehicle that hit him pushed him into the vehicle in front. The RAC have been putting Blue through hell for the past nine weeks by refuting his claim and accusing him by being at fault. The biggest factor here is that all three people involved are insured by the RAC, and as a result they are behaving like the lowest form of scum to try and save a buck, instead of acting like a reputable company and honouring their claims. Blue received a call from an RAC assessor stating that the driver he was pushed into had claimed that he hit her first. Blue had the presence of mind to obtain the other driver's details and phone numbers, and contacted the woman in front of him asking why she had changed her statement. She replied stating that she never changed her statement, and that the RAC had never contacted her regarding this fact. It was just pure lies and deceit on RAC's behalf to get Blue to either forfeit his claim or to admit fault. After several weeks of back and forth, and threatening legal action Blue was told that he would only be receiving $2000 for his claim on a vehicle insured for $8000. Again another three weeks went by, again threatening legal action before the RAC agreed to honour the claim. Now another two weeks have passed with multiple phone calls by Blue and he's finally been paid out. Blue should have been paid out without having to go through three months of drama. The RAC are acting like some lowlife scum American insurance company, and their ads about being on your side are a crock. Don't just walk away from the RAC, run.

Negative experience: Car broke down at city at 10pm. Called Rac and was given a 2 hours eta. It's 2.40am now, the truck is still on another job st Joondalup. "Valued Customer Service". Been waiting here on main road for 5 hours at 6 degree to have my car towed 8 kilometres!

Negative experience: RAC sucks. Avoid their incompetence, only thing they can ensure is that you'll walk away feeling ripped off. Installed a battery which was defective and then wouldn't replace it because according to their tests it was functional. My mechanic had to show to the roadside assist guy it WAS defective for him to replace it. Then had to wait another 2 hours fpr a second roadside assist guy because the first one didnt bring the right battery. Additionally they wont let me insure my vehicle for what its real value is because they have a convoluded way of calculating market value (they expect me to insure a 1.5k bike for 5k)

Negative experience: have my car insured with rac, was the victim of a hit and run. 3 months later work hasnt even begun on my car and rac are actively avoiding any of their responsibilties. DO NOT USE THEM FOR YOUR INSURANCE

Negative experience: I have been a loyal member of RAC for over 12 years. I have not made claims for many years during that time. But recently I had a run of bad luck with a couple of claims made under my policy. RAC has as a result placed a $1,500 personal driver excess on top of my comprehensive car insurance claims, which is very unreasonable. Such a large amount of driver excess speaks of greed and avarice. I already pay a much higher premium to reduce my excess. What’s the point of paying RAC premiums when these are meant to cover any damage that the car has been been insured for?. I’ve gone for many years with no claims at all, and RAC has had the benefit of those keeping those premiums without having to bear the cost of any claims I have made. I recently experienced malicious damage and made an immediate police report and provided the police with photos of culprit. The woman who caused this damage had already punched and cut my lip outside the IGA in the vicinity with cctv footage available. I did not provoke her, she must have been on drugs or suffered a mental illness. She then kicked in and dented my car because I took photos of her. RAC said they were willing to pay for the damage only if this is proved in court. Otherwise I will have to pay a driver excess of the $1,500 in addition to the cost of the repairs which they say I will have to bear. Having been very ill myself for a long time, going through the stress of taking this woman to court is not do-able and will only make me sicker. I am shocked my the lack of compassion, unprincipled and very large driver excess of $1.500 and the need to prove my claim in court to cover the costs of the damage. There are far more compassionate and flexible insurers out there, RAC is no longer the trustworthy and principled organisation it used to be.

Negative experience: Had first car accident in decades and was other driver fault and other driver acknowledged it, they refused to fix the damage properly and did a cover up job and even with the cover up job they didn't fix the damage and now saying its not part of the accident its part of wear and tear and nothing more they can do to fix the damaged driver and rear door, never going with these guys again

Negative experience: Straight up bad customer service. I required Roadside Assistance as my car would not start. I called them and they asked if I was happy to be “Low priority” and wait for around 2 hour 30 minutes as I’m parked somewhere safe and not on the road. When I told them I’m not happy to wait that long, the RAC rep said “yep you are low priority. Would you still like to go ahead with it?” I’m like ??? The rep asked me if I’m happy to be Low priority and I said no, and he said ok you’re Low priority.. then what’s the point of asking when I don’t get to have a choice. Rubbish company that’s lucky to have well known name in the industry.

Negative experience: Not had any good experiences with RAC, 2 claims in last 5 years 1st claim refused 2nd claim is a disaster with how long it has taken and not kept up to date, RAC did provide a vehicle hire for 2 weeks out of 3 months but have refused to compensate anymore when I still don't have car back from repairer, will be looking for a new insurer!

Negative experience: For all existing customers, take care of your money. Do not renew your policy, it is cheaper to get a new quote from RAC and of course even cheaper from other insurance provider. I have been with RAC for more than 7 years, and just renewal my policy every year. It is time to make a change now, as RAC keep 'steal' money from existing customers.

Negative experience: Very disappointed. Experiencing 20-40min call wait times to try fix an automatic payment error, which after 3 calls they still cancelled my policy! Ha. New policy now costs more than the old. Such a joke.

Fantastic experience: I am with RAC for last 8 years. Unfortunately had to claim thrice on car insurance. Got covered everytime with little hassle. Premium is market competitive as well. I am still checking with other insurers for pricing but failed to find better deal.

Negative experience: Daylight robbery. Hidden fees and charges, small print and loopholes? Sounds like the RAC to me. The worst customer experiences I've ever had with any business. Happy to take premiums but split hairs when it comes to actually assisting their customers. Was advised after an accident that the rental car, that I pay premiums for every month, needed to be picked up from Bunbury. 2 hours away from where I live. Was then advised that contrary to my policy information, the RAC would not cover transport costs to Bunbury, as it was over 100kms away. Was then given less than 18 hours notice on a Wednesday to have the car back by Thursday morning or risk being charged additional fees. Lost over to $500 in travel and lost work time. Repairs done to my car were of poor standard. 10 months later still dealing with issues. Can never get a straight answer out of anybody on the phone. They just sit there and read the same script over and over. I could go on... have had nothing but bad experiences in every dealing with RAC. Have paid premiums for years. Have my car and contents insurance with RAC. Will be cancelling both. Would not recommend RAC to anybody.

Negative experience: Called me to try to make me admit fault of a motor vehicle accident, luckily I am much wiser and told the person on the phone to back off, this is determined by the assessor not the person on the phone. Absolutely appalling RAC. Beware when dealing with these crooks. RAC you should be appalled of yourself.

Fantastic experience: We have had RAC car insurance and pet insurance for a few years and have always found them to to be real people, i know that sounds strange but they really do give a dam. We have know changed our house and contents insurance over to them and wow they are so so good. Our house flooded and with in a hour a sparky was onsite to make safe and get us some power back and the 30 minutes after that the flooring people was here to suck up all the water. The building company called to book in a time to come once I advised that there was no urgent issues. This was super quick and when you are in this situation the whole world seems to be against you and we found the rac team to be so helpful and cooperative that the world was not so bad after all. I cannot thank them enough and if you are looking for any sort of insurance in WA RAC are the ONLY ones you should use.

Fantastic experience: RAC Roadside Assistance, the customer service women I spoke to was very kind and got me sorted out quickly, I didn’t get the mechanics name either but I’m really grateful that he came out so fast an could help me solve the issue with my car, turned out something was wrong with the radio an it was draining my car battery he was very friendly and helpful definitely saved my butt tonight haha as I know next to nothing about fixing cars haha, I will definitely be recommending RAC to friends and family. Negative experience: RAC, your vintage car insurance is ill-informed, out of touch and unrealistic to the point of hilarity. This morning I had a spare moment and decided to shop around my insurance policy for a very well looked after and fully original MAZDA RX2 CAPELLA SUPER DELUXE. After the usual questions regarding the policy the lady who took my call made the remark " I don't think we will be able offer you coverage for the amount you want" now as you can probably understand the amount I WANT is what ever it takes to replace my vehicle if it was to be stolen or written off, no more, no less. The tone and manner in your employees voice was set to make me feel unreasonable for requesting such coverage for a vehicle she quite obviously knew very little about. Now this in it's self could be forgiven considering the age and rarity of my vehicle but out of interest I asked her what coverage could be offered and the answer was $3,300.... I could, most probably find a steering wheel and a sun visor for this amount of coverage if my vehicle was to be at a loss. For your information, a similar RX2 sold at Scammells actions in SA just a few days ago, sat 29th of may 2021 for 58k... As you can imagine the amount of coverage offered is quite offensive to a motor enthusiast, but to be told to "take it up with REDBOOK" like its not RACs problem for not knowing the market, well that's entirely a different matter. Your insurance product is substandard and I will be avoiding doing business with you across my other assets going forward.

Fantastic experience: Car engine wouldn't start tonight. RAC sent roadside to me. The guy checked my battery. Was ok. Said it may even be my key. Gave me tips in case it happened again. Even followed me out as I drove off, thank you! I stopped somewhere on my way home,and yes my car engine wouldn't start again. But I did what the RAC guy recommended, locking then unlocking my car. I put in the key, engine started straight away. Thanks to the RAC guys tips,saved me! Thank you!!

Negative experience: BE CAREFUL!! I asked for Roadside Assistance after breaking down on Leach Highway. As I was in a dangerous spot, I was given a 'priority one' for a tow truck. Then the tow truck driver calls and advises he is 50 minutes away. And in that time I am HIT BY ANOTHER CAR! In the end, another tow truck arrived and took what was left of my car away. I never even saw the RAC tow truck driver, he even had the audacity to ask me to call in and cancel my request after I'd just told him I'd been in a serious accident. Now I am having to deal with them as the at fault driver that hit me was insured by RAC. That's almost as enjoyable as my dealings with roadside assist. They are slow to process the claim, I had to call a number of times to move it along. And every time I call I have to go through everything all over again. The assessors are rude.THERE ARE BETTER COMPANIES OUT THERE, DO YOUR RESEARCH AND FIND ONE WITH COMPASSION, AND CAN ACTUALLY HELP YOU WHEN YOU NEED THEM! (After all, isnt that why we pay for insurance??) I'd give zero stars if I could. I should sue for their incompetence and apathy.

Fantastic experience: Hi All, I have been a member for over 20 years and the roadside assist annual membership is worth it. You may go a while before needing this service but that time you need it they are efficient and helpful. Last night we were told of a 2 hour wait but within the hour at 10 pm the technician arrived and had us going with helpful advice. From my perspective the time they spend with you if it was an hourly rate pays for a couple of years membership anyway. Thank you RAC roadside assist.

Negative experience: $200 to join up and use their service that day. $440 for a service where they did not change the fuel filter or even fix the problem Same problem occurred again 3 weeks later. Now they claim they do not specialise in diesel injection. Suggest I take it to another mechanic. Not only did they diagnose a dodgy tank pump which wasn't picked up but also the fuel filter which hadn't been changed. I have tried asking RAC for my money back on the half job they did, but they're refusing. Going to the ACCC now...

Fantastic experience: Today I broke down in the country 300km away from my house. Can't thank RAC enough. They organised a local mechanic to check out my car, it was classified major breakdown and not safe for driving. They then organised a tow truck to take it, myself with a passenger all the way to our mechanic near our house before 5.00pm. Covered by my level of membership. Clear communication and great timing given the location and distance to travel. Thank you!

Negative experience: Sometimes a hit and miss. I received an eamil to renew my inurance and i made payment one day before it expired. A few days later, i got into a not at fault minor accident and they asked me to pay my excess upfront and get the repair done. Now they are saying that my renweal did not go through correctly as it created another account which they didnt see happen before .They only contact me to ask for $, no follow ups. I had to contact them time and again to ask for an update and the issue is still not resolved. I think ill explore other companies. [Update] they sent me a renewal for an older expired policy, so now they made me top up $ for that policy to be brought up to date. its their mistake and i have to take the fall.

Negative experience: Terrible company. Had a car accident, other persons fault. Asked about a rental car while my car is going to be fixed and was told comprehensive insurance does not include it, only if car is stolen. What BS! The chances of an accident is greater than the chance that the car will get stolen, especially in this day and age where it's not easy to steal a car. This is like dealing with Foxtel or Telstra. All crooks. I went online and renewed my car insurance and they send me a reminder to pay for car insurance. They tried to get me to pay twice.

Negative experience: Contacted RAC maintenance to arrange a quote for house painting. After numerous calls following up a quote time and apologies from RAC , eventually a time was booked and painter arrived. Then waited weeks after painter attending property hearing excuses he was waiting for a price from his scaffolder to finalise quote. This quote never arrived. So I cancelled as it was obvious the painter did not want to do the job as I was the one having to chase up for the quote. Disappointing, as I wasted time following up and I work full time. All the painter had to do was say he didn't want the job! Dealing with tradies can be very frustrating.I advised RAC by email but no reply received. I will not use this service again as every other dealings I have had with RAC concerning car insurance have always been faultless.

Fantastic experience: In the last month I have had to call out roadside assistance twice. I had two fantastic mechanics who arrived promptly, identified the problems and fixed them. I can't speak highly enough of the caliber of the mechanics. It was amazing to watch their skill in action. Phone calls to the office were answered by understanding, compassionate people and help arrived quickly. The car had to be towed on one occasion and the tow truck driver also did a great job.The stress was enormous as on both occasions I thought the problems were unsolvable. The RAC men swooped in and saved the day!! I am a senior and recommend young and old should join and have access to this wonderful service. I hope the office can pass on to both mechanics how extremely grateful I am for their help xxx
