Fantastic experience: What an experience! This well and truly exceeded my expectations. Humpback Whales, Minki Whales, 2 different species of dolphin, loggerhead turtles the list goes on. A spectacular day with our very knowledgeable guide. The boat is small and comfy providing a very intimate experience with nature. I'll be bowling another session for sure, I was on a high all day. Fantastic experience: We went snorkeling at Julian Rocks the 10th of april 2025 and it was a perfect experience! Our guides were really nice, informed on the wildlife and funny aswell. We seen turtles, sharks and many different fishes. Definetly an experience we recommend.

Negative experience: I booked a snorkel trip for myself and 3 children 6 days ahead of time. We were very excited about the prospect. However, this company then brought forward the departure date by a day with less than 24 hrs notice. Whilst I accept weather changes can happen, I did not see the email until after the new time had been and gone. I had been checking my emails daily for updates. They did not confirm the new departure time was acceptable to me but just assumed and rebooked us on the earlier day. They have since refused to refund us any of the $590, claiming that we are not eligible. I was checking daily my emails prior to the departure date. They had tried to phone me but, being overseas from New Zealand, I did not pick up the messages until too late. This is disgraceful. I am now $590 out of pocket for a trip I was not able to make. I tried phoning to discuss but they did not answer my calls or phone me back. They also made no attempt to book us on the next available trip. Instead they gave us some worthless vouchers which we will never be able to use - we will not be back from New Zealand anytime soon. Beware of this company - they ruined the last days of our holiday by their ruthless behaviour. They have not treated us with fairness or due respect. I will be making many formal complaints. Utterly Disgraceful.

Negative experience: I truly didn’t want to write this review, but I feel compelled to share my experience in the hope it may help others avoid a similar disappointment. I booked a dive with Blue Seafaris as part of a carefully planned trip to Byron Bay, specifically to dive Julian Rocks. Given the unpredictable weather, we meticulously selected a 7:30 a.m. Sunday slot to maximize our chances. My partner and I both have extensive ocean experience in our careers, so we are both familiar with ocean conditions. Sunday morning offered the best weather window in our short 3 day time frame in the form of calm seas and light winds. The booking confirmation stressed, "ARRIVE 30 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR DEPARTURE TIME!! so we have time to get you geared up. IF YOU ARE LATE WE DO NOT WAIT!" Respecting this, we left our accommodation in Suffolk early and arrived just before 7:00 a.m., along with the rest of the group. However, no staff were present, and calls to the office went unanswered. At 7:30 a.m. our scheduled departure time, the skipper arrived and informed us, "I am not sure what's going on, maybe the crew had a big night. I canceled the tour this morning at 6 a.m., but no one at the office is answering, so I had to come down here to tell you." To say this was frustrating would be an understatement. Not only had we gone out of our way to arrive early, but we also watched every other tour operator in the marina depart to take advantage of the beautiful (glass off) conditions. The skipper, to his credit, was kind and honest. He offered us a choice between a refund or a midday tour. Initially, we considered the midday option but decided on a refund after assessing that the weather was expected to deteriorate. Despite multiple attempts to contact the office that morning, I only received a response around noon. Unfortunately, the response left much to be desired. Rather than a sincere apology, I was met with a convoluted explanation and informed I would need to wait for refund approval. A simple acknowledgment (ownership of the mistake) and a prompt resolution would have gone a long way. When I finally received my refund, it was $10 short. Since the cancellation was entirely their fault, I am entitled to a full refund. I reached out to the owner via email but received no response, even after following up a week later. Adding to the sting of the experience, that morning offered stunning visibility at Julian Rocks, with manta rays, eagle rays, and the characteristic leopard shark aggregation reported by other operators and clients. It was, by all accounts, the best dive window during our trip. I understand that mistakes happen, but how a business handles them reflects its values. Blue Seafaris' disorganization and lack of accountability will ensure we continue to give our money to and recommend other operators. If you’re considering diving Julian Rocks, I strongly recommend choosing an operator that respects your time and genuinely values your experience.

Negative experience: This is a conflicted review as the staff and crew we went on the tour with were so kind and understanding, in saying that though the day it’s self was probably one of the worse experiences I have ever had , before going out to the island the crew voiced that there was “ swell” coming in and that it might be bumpy - once we were out at the island the water was so choppy and the waves were non stop - I understand that this can’t be helped as it is Mother Nature but the crew had some knowledge of what we were going into and still took us in without proper warning - I would say I am a very confident swimmer and spend a lot of time in the water but the waves made it to hard to enjoy any part of this snorkel, both in the water and on the boat felt as though you were clothes in a washing machine - it was unbelievable unpleasant and nearly all swimmer that had come out the day out expressed feel nauseous at one point or another - some people were Vomiting off the edge of the boat and others were sitting with there heads in the hand trying not to vomit - If there is even a chance that you might get sea sick maybe think twice before booking. I think that if the crew new in any kind of way what we were going into we should have been given the chance to rebook to another day - I’m unsure if this is what the day usually looks like and if so maybe including that seas are extremely chopping and high risk of nausea should be listed in the add ? But I will say the team and crew were so lovely and my partner the only one out 3 that was able to stay in the water ( he was also quite sick but wanted to make to most ) saw a turtle! If the day had been nicer this would have been an amazing experience I just wish we had been given the chance to pick another day or been warned what we were going into - $130 for a day that I spent trying not to loose my breakfast laying face down on a boats floor was honestly disappointing but again not entire this company’s fault but a warning or option to reschedule would have been nice. If you think that being in a washing machine for a few hours is something your tummy can handle and this would be an amazing trip but if there even a sliver that you might get sea sick maybe pick a different action or tour I also just wanted add the we had booked in for the 12:00 tour then they moved us to the 10:00 but we messed up the times and I gave them a call and they super understanding/ nice about it and just moved us back to the 12:00 tour - so might have been a bit of karma for being disorganised

Fantastic experience: We went on this tour with our family. I did make a mistake when booking but the crew and the team was extremely flexible and generous in accommodating us anyway. The tour did not disappoint. Turtles, Leopard sharks, fish, big waves etc. I can only recommend this tour operator. Just make sure you get the time difference between QLD and NSW right when planning your trip. Several people on our tour were late because google maps would give them a wrong arrival time. Fantastic experience: Such a cool experience! Our skipper and crew (Kai, Jess and Leilani) were amazing, really lovely, happy and knowledgeable. We arrived late as we didn't realize the time zone difference from Queensland to NSW, even though their website has clear warnings for numpties like us, but they were really cool about it and waited for us and were really nice about it. The snorkeling was terrific, saw lots of fish, turtles etc. A great trip all round.

Fantastic experience: We booked a morning trip out to cook island, and it didn't disappoint! We were aware that the weather wasn't the best for this kind of trip however we were still able to see turtles, sharks and plenty of coral/fish. The team on board were so friendly and helpful, they knew all the best spots to swim. We've booked a second trip with BlueSeafaris at Byron Bay, looking forward to it! (also quick email replies!)

Fantastic experience: We did whale watching in Byron Bay and had an amazing time. We were in an 8 seat speedboat with guides who had plenty of useful information throughout the trip. We were lucky enough to see plenty of whales and even a baby breach the water. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: My wife and I had a poor customer experience with this operator in July. We booked late Wednesday afternoon for a 10:45am tour the following morning, choosing this operator on the basis that this preferred time was showing availability on the website at the time of booking. Later that evening we were re-scheduled to a 7:45am sailing the next morning, an inappropriate time for us. The only evidence of contact we received from the operator regarding the change was one email, to the primary address provided (not the second email address), with less than 16 hours’ notice, the reason given for the change being 'for best conditions' (no mention of weather, swell or safety). On the email sent there was no offer of a later sailing or refund, as set out in the product terms and conditions on the operator's website. Unfortunately we did not see the email to the next morning, and due to a genuine mistake we had made in not having the correct SIM cards in our phone, we would have been unable to be contacted by phone that evening. On discovering this genuine error we immediately contacted the operator from the correct number, the first of many unanswered telephone calls made throughout the day with voicemail messages left. We acknowledged our mistake with the contact numbers and awaited a reply from the operator. On receiving no reply we changed our travel plans - deciding to stay an extra night in Coolangatta - in the expectation that we would be offered a sailing for the next day, as availability was showing on their website. We finally received an SMS text at approximately 6pm, stating that 'we are not operating boats on Friday'. In the same text, we were offered a Saturday sailing, but we truthfully explained that we couldn't do that as we were heading on to Brisbane. On yet again receiving no reply for a further 20 hours, we sent another follow-up requesting a refund due to our circumstances. We then finally received a reply that we were being sent credit vouchers on the basis we didn't check for changes. This same trend of belated communication continued after, as we tried to appeal to the operator to refund us for an experience we never received. On the few replies received, there was a flat refusal to offer a refund, or acknowledge the circumstances that led to our experience not being fulfilled. Instead, the blame for 'missing' the tour was placed squarely at our feet, despite the fact we booked for a later tour than the one that we were rescheduled for at late notice! Numerous references to the 'terms and conditions' were made, despite those very same terms giving scope for a refund to be offered (depending on whether you view their website or confirmation email) - something we were never offered. As we explained on one of our voicemails at the time, and since by email, the credit vouchers were worthless to us, unless we could sell them on. In his replies the operator seems to be ignorant to the fact that many of his customers are holiday-makers, with some travelling from afar and wide, and therefore this form of recompense is inappropriate. Most disappointing in our experience was the attitude of the operator in not answering phone calls, or replying to SMS messages and emails in anything close to an acceptable timeframe. This extended to the point where we have asked FIVE TIMES if the credit vouchers that were sent to us were transferable, so that we could attempt to sell them using an online platform. Each time, the operator ghosted this very simple question. Please note that this rating is not a reflection of the tour itself, as we did not experience it. Other reviews will no doubt give a positive experience of the tour and viewers of this review are welcome to make their own decisions. But as customers who are in deficit of 268 dollars for an experience not fulfilled, plus the indirect costs, it may be helpful for you to note the lack of flexibility, empathy and communication we received from this operator.

Fantastic experience: Will & Renin (sp?): Wow, Wow, Wow....thank you so much for taking me on a life changing adventure yesterday. Although I got sea sick, It was still my best adventure yet!!!! Thanks to Renin's videos, I got to see the one Mom and baby that I missed while I was on the boat being sick... . Fantastic experience: This morning I had the most memorable ocean experience of my life with the Blue Seafari crew. We were fortunate enough to swim with a few hump back whales, a pod of dolphins, as well as turtles. It was a magical day and I can’t recommend Rhiannon and Nunu enough! You’re definitely missing out on all the fun if you don’t go.

Negative experience: I would not recommend this company! Change of departure location without letting us know and a further 2 postponed tours without reason. We therefore missed out on the experience as our holiday was finished and we had to return to Europe. Now they are refusing to provide a refund of close to $400! Don't book with this provider!

We had two great guides on our boat with captain (Captain nunu) and our amazing swimming guide Rhi Rhi. They both were very knowledgeable, passionate and good fun. A magnificent up close adventure. Fantastic experience: An amazing adventure and a must do if you're on the Gold Coast! Scott is very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. His boat is able to get right up to the humpbacks as they were jumping around about 10-20m away. These photos were just taken with our phones! Check it out.

Negative experience: I went whale watching with this crew. They changed the place and time of departure the evening before the event. This meant 30 mins more travel (ok) and the hour later departure (why) meant that we cancelled our (hard to get) dinner reservation as we could not make it back in time. Turns out we could have made our booking because the approximately 3 hour tour was only 2 hours and 10 minutes. One of our party of 4 was struck by a bout of vertigo the morning of the trip and unfortunately could not join the trip. The crew flatly refused to refund the $ or give voucher. Absolutely no goodwill, the tour leader stated, would rather a vomiting sick passenger than give a refund As for the knowledge base - don’t expect to learn anything about whales on the trip. They claim to have a marine biologist on board. There was about 5 minutes cumulative of content, I have learnt more from a cereal box. This crew I now realise are Queensland based. So scooping up Byron / Brunswick punters on the pretence that the exit point would be Brunswick is pretty unethical in my book. Sure you say it was too choppy to exit Brunswick so therefore requires flexibility - why not practice what you preach. There are a number of Byron and Ballina operators - in my opinion the others provide a far superior, knowledge packed experience. Ps: we saw and followed a pod of 3 or 4 whales.

Negative experience: I went on a whale watch with this company and they changed the location of the pick up at the last last minute which was really inconvenient and involved an extra half hour of travel. Also, my friend had an unexpected onset of ilness involving nausea/vomiting and was unable to attend. Rather than offer a refund, partial refund or alternative trip for her, they flatly refused to return any funds or offer alternatives. This is not a customer friendly service and there are better whale watch options in the region. .....unfortunately the mean response to my concerns only proves my point about poor customer service....

Negative experience: My friend booked a whale watching trip just the day before the trip, thinking we would depart from Brunswick Heads, these guys changed the departure location without much notice, adding an hours travel time to the round trip. I was feeling very sick the morning of the trip and my friend contacted them to cancel for me but they refused to refund or offer anything to compensate. A waste of $130 for me. I think there are much better companies in the area and would not recommend this company. In response to the owners reply. I DID NOT SEE ANY WHALES SO WOULD LIKE A REFUND. We were not in communication with you about the location change, we were not offered a refund at any point. We booked within 48 hours of the trip commencing so how could we give you 48 hours notice?

Negative experience: Worst possible customer service! The excursion was canceled due to weather. I have been sending emails and calls for 5 days to request my refund and I have not received a response. Finally today they answered the call and he was a bad-tempered man, unwilling to help people and offensive.

Fantastic experience: Had a really great time, the team worked really hard to get us the chance to see whales doing cool stuff. Teenage kids said it was the best day of the holiday.

Fantastic experience: We decided to do a whale watching trip with Blue Seafaris as the weather was pretty good, and booked online the day before. Taking an 11am slot seemed the best timing (they have 3 sessions most days) and we given long jackets (soft material lining), self-inflating life vests and safety instructions before heading off from the marina at Brunswick Heads. 12 people per boat plus pilot and marine guide. The trip was 3 hours and fantastic - great value, very interesting guide and brilliant skipper. We hugged the coast for a while , spotting pods of dolphins, travelling towards Byron, then headed out to see. We saw lots of whales and maintained a respectful distance when following them. Some came closer to inspect us, and then we spotting breaching whales off in the distance, so we charged closer and were delighted to have displays about 15-20 meters away : so close you can see the barnacles on the whales bellies and undersides. Unbelievably wonderful and life affirming, it is a MUST DO. I was able to take photos with an iPhone, and mostly took video at zoom of 2 - 2.5 (can’t upload video here unfortunately). I’ve not done whale watching up close before, but felt completely safe, fully informed and wanting more. It’s good value and very eco-friendly. The 3 hour trip goes pretty quickly, you might want to take an apple or some nuts to snack, but go to the loo before boarding.

Fantastic experience: Swimming with whales off Fingal Head. Totally awesome! One pod of whales came so close to us, it was incredible. Another pod put on an amazing display of breaching, waving and fin slapping! The afternoon was topped off with a beautiful rainbow over the ocean. Couldn’t ask for more! Fantastic experience: Was the best day of my life! Swimming with whales has been a dream of mine forever, and this day just absolutely exceeded my expectations x100. Scott was so helpful and knowledgeable, which was able to get us the best interaction possible. The first time we jumped in the water we had 4 whales straight away, we got to swim at least 3-4 times with the humpbacks in different spots, then got to watch them dance around before we went to another spot full of 30+ turtles. Was an absolute dream day I couldn’t recommend Scott and Blue Seafaris enough!!!

Fantastic experience: Wow! What can I say other than epic! Anika and Will were such great crew, super professional, friendly and knowledgeable. We were blessed with a truly superb whale encounter which made the whole experience outstanding and one I will remember forever!

Fantastic experience: Amazing experience! There was unfortunately a bit chop/swell on the day but Scott and Kye did everything to make sure we still had an awesome experience. Quality gear, concise and clear communication, and very helpful and reassuring as well. Saw Leopard sharks, an eagle ray, many many kinds of fish and a sea turtle!

Negative experience: Booked on the 11am snorkelling, had a text the evening before saying we had been transfered to the 8am session without asking if that was OK. After getting there we, and the rest of the group, were waiting there for nearly an hour before we found out the tour had been cancelled. 1 out of the 10 people booked on the tour had been sent an email and luckily had turned up to tell us, otherwise we would still be waiting. No communication with us and no communication with Get Your Guide (who we booked through) so making it more difficult to get a refund. No replies to texts or calls while waiting at the harbour. EDIT- I did not receive any sms the morning of and no email received either, not in my spam folder, I did not say to you that I had any email in my spam folder so not sure why you would say that. We attempted to call multiple times in the morning (along with all others waiting) and I messaged the number that sent the initial message and had no reply.

Fantastic experience: Had the best time with Jill and Ky. A very knowledgeable team who aim to make their guests day amazing. Spotting turtles from a distance, Ky ensured his guests got to see them in their natural habitat without intruding on them. While in the water, Jill was sure to pount out sharks that were a little harder to spot. I found myself in what I lovingly call Shark Alley, snorkelling alongside leopard sharks. It really was an amazing experience. Thank you Jill and Ky! Side note - don't wear jewellery, my husband lost his wedding ring in the first ten minutes

Fantastic experience: 12/10 stars for our trip with Blue Seafaris on Monday. The weather and sea conditions couldn’t have been more perfect had we ordered it. Annika and Santi were fantastic guides, kind, knowledgeable, skilled, patient. We had 1 snorkeler with us who started out a bit insecure in the water but within minutes under their guidance was as confident as a fish in the water! Fantastic experience: We had such an amazing time on our exursion to Julian rocks near Byron Bay! The equipment was clean, the group was small, and the tour was a good length of time. The crew is so knowledgeable and passionate about the sealife! We saw leopard sharks, a huge variety of fish and even a sea turtle.

Fantastic experience: We went for the whale swim today and had an amazing time guided by Scott. We saw dolphins, whales and turtles. Perfect weather conditions, boat is safe and accommodating. I found it a lot better being in a smaller boat as it felt less invasive on the whales and we did not hinder their natural path like the big boats did. I wish I could go again and again ✨

Fantastic experience: Such a great experience, the team from Blueseafaris are very experienced and get you up close and personal with the whales. I have been on a number of local whale watching tours and these guys are the best. I enjoyed it so much that I booked for a friend and I to go again the following week. And I’m considering one last trip before the end of the season. If you like watching whales from the shore, you should definitely do this tour.

Fantastic experience: Such a beautiful experience on board with Scott and his team. Extremely knowledgeable, respectful of the marine life and clearly very passionate about conservation and the comfort of all species we came across. The whales weren’t overly interested in coming too close to us today, but Scott and the team actually went over time to take us to a beautiful little spot where we swam with the most incredible green sea turtles. Some of them as big as me! I absolutely recommend this company if you’re wanting to get close encounters with marine life on the Gold Coast. Awesome company!

Fantastic experience: Beautiful experience and a lot of fun. I am glad I choose this trip with Blue Safaris as we were on the boat only 8 people. Scott is amazing and very experienced guide too, he knew exactly how the whales will react, and guided us to have as much encounter with them as possible, without any harassment of them. As soon as they got used to our presence, they came to say hello and see who we are. They can be very cheeky and funny too. Loved it

Fantastic experience: We had an incredible day with Scott. His knowledge of whale behaviour meant we were in the right places to have incredible encounters. Having travelled the world for whale experiences, it was a pleasure to see someone who clearly puts the whales well being first. We were rewarded with an epic day of breaching, fluking and in water encounters with three adult humpbacks. I have already rebooked!

Negative experience: I wouldn’t recommend the whale swimming tour because is not 100% you can swim with them, you better take the whale watching is way more cheaper.

Fantastic experience: wonderful day we saw many whales including a group with a baby whale being escorted by three big females. The hig light was two whales launching themselves clear of shallow beach water into the air, a memory Ill keep forever.

Could not recommend Scott enough, it is so rewarding doing this with someone who is so passionate about whales and respects both their space and their beauty! Also this ecotour was very informative! We swam with a pod of whales and it was the most “pinch me” moments of my life! You honestly can not beat a natural high - Serotonin levels were peaking! Would love to do it again!

Fantastic experience: Fabulous whale swim trip!!! Just like what I read in other reviews, Scott is well knowledgeable in what he is doing. We had so many opportunities to get into the water because Scott and his wife were so good at spotting the whales and how to get the most out of it for us. Undeniably, whale swim is heavily depended on luck if the whales are happy to swim towards us, however, with their expertise, we have our luck on top of their capacity to get in the right spots waiting for them. Wonderful trip with Blue Seafaris, strongly recommend it!!!

Fantastic experience: These guys are great not only because they get you see whales, but look after you when you need help. I was getting a mini hypothermias during the trip, Scott and his team wrapped me up in their jackets and beanies as best as they can, and gave me a ride back to the hotel. I’m so grateful I was in good hands!!
