Fantastic experience: I wanted to see Japan. I could be there about 2 weeks. I wanted to see the lights of Tokyo, the temples of Kyoto, the Hiroshima memorial and Mt Fuji. Those vague ideas were about the extent of my instructions to Lina. Within days I had a full itinerary from start to finish including flights, transfers, accommodation and a selection of interesting experiences as well as plenty of free time to explore each city. I asked for a few changes and together we finessed the planned trip until it was exactly what I wanted. In addition to what I had requested, Lina made a few of her own suggestions. I had never heard of a ryokan but she explained the concept of a traditional Japanese hot spring inn with tatami mat flooring, futon beds and multi course meals of fresh local ingredients. It ended up being the highlight of my trip. On top of her own help and knowledge, Lina's connections and partnerships made all the difference. When I arrived at my hotel straight off the flight there was a package waiting for me at the desk including my intercity rail pass, some helpful maps and brochures and the Japanese equivalent of an Opal card, all ready to go.
