Negative experience: Mad a bad decision to walk into this establishment today to discuss a trip in November. Apparently I had the gall to walk in without an appointment. Was met by a lone woman whom stared at me like I was asking her to donate a kidney and I was in the wrong place. Apparently she’s not taking any new customers. Which is fine..but there’s a way to relay that info without being rude!!She reports that covid has hit them so hard and went on to display all the travel cases she had to get through.!! Don’t talk to me about covid Karen.. I’m an emergency nurse working in the thick of it for the past 3yrs. Don’t need to be schooled on covid thank you. Just trying to organise a nice little trip here. Quite possibly the rudest customer service I have encountered since moving to port Melbourne. Cheers Karen . We’ll agree to disagree on the hostile reception I received when I first walked in. If you see nothing wrong with how you first interacted with me?? Then you’ve got a warped sense of customer service.
Sorry you felt that way Alison, I don't feel it was conveyed in that manner at all as you describe it above. We didn't discuss Covid, just lack of staff. I certainly wasn't rude, and I referred you to several other well respected agents in the area that have staff who might be able to service you. It has been difficult for many experienced travel agents across Melbourne, and many are running appointments or not taking on new clients if unable to manage the work load right now. Good luck with your indepandant trip planning and please do reach out the other quality agents I mentioned to you. Most will ask for appointments, just check in advance.

Negative experience: I walked into Port Travel, a travel agency two doors down from our Port Melbourne based salon. I went in to talk to someone about planning a possible Europe trip. As a business owner and a neighbour I wanted to support a local business. This is heavily encouraged by the community groups like Port Melbourne Mums In Business Port Melbourne 3207 . Unfortunately, I was met with poor customer service.I walked in and said hi, no one greeted me back or bothered to reply. I stood around the reception desk waiting for someone to acknowledge me. I was ignored, however I could see one of the women in there was on the phone. So, I thought I would take a seat in the waiting area. The women assumed I had left and started to talk about me. I heard them make snarky remarks like "She's the eyelash lady, she probably wanted me to print something for her" I stood up to make it clear I hadn't left yet, I pretended to read the catalogues available and STILL NO ONE acknowledged me. I walked out and STILL NOTHING! I'm not sure if this is common practice but I won't be returning. I will be reposting this review because I don't think it's fair for anyone to feel this uncomfortable or unwelcome. ** I am editing this review to respond to the below comment** Hi, thank you for your response. I don’t appreciate you coming into my workplace, yelling in front of my clients and staff. Then calling me on our work phone & threatening to harass me until this is taken down. If you would like to apologise you can do this via email. I don’t and won’t respond to your aggressive approach especially in front of clients and/or my staff. I understand you were on the phone and I acknowledged that in my original review which is why I took a seat & waited patiently whilst you made snarky remarks about me with your book keeper. I haven’t made any racist comments and if you think I have then please explain. Also, I haven’t asked any of my staff to make any reviews. This is a personal matter which I experienced as a person not as a business. As mentioned earlier, if you would like to apologise then you can contact me via email. Please respect me and my staff and refrain from yelling/making a scene in front of our clients.
Dear Ama I have tried to communicate with you this afternoon, in response to mis-leading racist headings on social platforms with comments below and in addition to that asking other staff members and friends to post negative feedback to your post against our business. When you arrived to the office I was on the telephone and the other person here today is a bookkeeper normally working behind the scenes. I was talking to another person on a headset and whilst I advised my bookkeeper that you may just want another staff contract printed off as we had helped you before with such request being a local business. I stood up and didn’t see you, called out that I won’t be long however you had already got up to depart the agency. Your response to bully and condemn on social media has shocked us today, and your over exaggeration of the situation we have had nothing but good relations with other local business in the Port Melbourne area for 20 years now, and with our repeat clientele. My door is always open to resolve your mis-understanding, instead of taking such approach over social media. Port Travel.
