In September 2000, not long after getting married, Terry and Fiona launched Go West Tours. With a single 21-seat bus and Terry as the driver-guide, they operated their first Great Ocean Road tour with a group of 5 guests.
Determined to exceed existing industry standards, their focus was to provide guests with an interactive experience which was affordable, safe, reliable, and unforgettable. As the business grew, Terry and Fiona focused on selecting and inducting tour guides who could engage with, inform, and entertain guests throughout the day.
Today, Go West Tours still upholds this high standard when recruiting new team members.
In 2005, Go West Tours became the first tour operator to provide a fully mobile translation service for non-English-speaking guests and, to this day, innovation remains a strong area of focus.
Today, all touring vehicles are fitted with complimentary Wi-Fi and Go West remains the only small bus operator in Melbourne to fit their buses with customised, upgraded seating, providing a safer and more comfortable journey for guests.
These innovative ideas, as well as their philosophy to provide guests with more than just a destination, saw them awarded their first Victorian Tourism Award in 2005. Go West backed up this win by winning their category again in 2006 and 2007, elevating them to the Victorian Tourism Awards Hall of Fame. In 2007, Go West also won the Australian Tourism Award in the category of Outstanding Tour & Transport Operator.
In the years since – rather than entering the awards – Terry has worked with the Tourism Awards team as both a mentor and a judge in an endeavour to give back to the tourism industry and to assist in the development of other tourism businesses.
Go West Tours remains a family-owned and operated business that has grown to a team of over 40 employees, operating unique itineraries that encapsulate the best parts of the Great Ocean Road, Grampians, Phillip Island, Mornington Peninsula, Wilsons Promontory, and the Yarra Valley. With 20 years in business, Go West Tours is still as committed to providing guests with an unforgettable experience as they were back in 2000

Fantastic experience: Me, my sister and my husband were with Chloe on 22nd December for the Great Ocean Road tour. Chloe was very welcoming, she explained many things to us during the tour. Positive experience: gowest是一間組織良好的旅行社，但是實際上這次出遊並不是非常滿意。我看了大量google 好評而挑選了它，有點後悔，實際上它只是中規中矩，我對它錯誤的期待太高。為了平衡報導我寫了這個評價。 1. 時間管理可以更好。早上光是市區接客人就花了50分鐘，在午餐時間停留75分鐘，以及中間停留多次廁所站點（我不覺得大家需要上這麼多次廁所-並沒有團員提出要求），浪費了時間，在重要景點12門徒的時間不足。 2. 不一定停gibson steps！在意的人慎選！我們在旅行的半途中詢問導遊，才被告知不會停留gibson steps（雖然itinerary 中註明了「時間允許」，但是導遊並沒有事先說明本次旅程「時間不足」，因為大家都很準時，沒有人耽誤時間，所以我們還以為會去-畢竟在gowest的app/facebook/google評價中有一些漂亮的照片-一直到我們詢問他才告知不會去，真是諷刺）。導遊不願意載我們到gibson steps，儘管它離12門徒僅幾分鐘的車程（他說那邊不能停車，實際上是有停車場），他說我們可以自己從12門徒走過去，來回需要40分鐘，但是我們到達12門徒時，距離日落只有一小時，時間非常緊張。我選擇快速跑到gibson steps，但是很不幸地剛好當下有人需要救援而我們無法走近沙灘，需要等待一陣子，因為時間不足我無法久留，只好又快速跑回12門徒等待日落。所以我完美錯過了期待已久的gibson steps。我們飛行了10個鐘頭，並且在墨爾本停留一週，挑選一個最佳天氣參團，並且選擇了擁有良好評價的gowest，真的很遺憾是這個結果。 3. 旅遊巴需要升級。座位很窄很簡陋，沒有前置口袋，leg room 不足，整趟旅程後座高大的乘客不停用膝蓋頂著我的椅背，十分不舒服（我相信他也很不舒服）。提供給小朋友的carseat只是一個增高坐墊，不是標準的安全座椅。在意旅程舒適度的人慎選，畢竟車程很長，不舒適的座位令人覺得暈車且很掃興。 4. 沒有提供飲用水。我參加的其他local tour都有提供。 5. 我以為導遊會下車幫大家合影及介紹，但導遊只是在車程中講述一些歷史故事，其他大部分時間他只待在車上，並沒有一起走到景點。考慮到車程很長需要專心開車，我覺得這點沒太大問題，只是我被google好評誤導，導致原本的期待太高了。

Fantastic experience: in the must-see things to do in Melbourne, you don't want to miss the penguin parade at Philips Island. This tour group was amazing! Not only was Bluey (Tom) incredible and informative, but all the other Go West groups were expertly managed. Bluey had amazing advice and commentary to make each part of the journey engaging and fun. Kids can ruin an excursion, but Bluey handled them well. I highly recommend doing Phillips Island with Go West instead of trying it yourself. There were far more experiences then we had planned and wouldn't have wanted to miss them in retrospect. Thanks to Go West and Bluey for making our trip even better.

Fantastic experience: Followed Bluey on the Phillip Island Penguin Parade Tour today. Started the day well, went to Brighton Beach to visit the bath boxes, then Moonlit Sanctuary, and finally the main highlight, Phillip Island Penguin Parade. Fantastic experience: I was thoroughly impressed by the Penguin Parade Express tour lead by Ashleigh. Not only was the tour an educational journey through the wonderful Phillip Island, it was very well planned with plenty of stops and landmarks to visit. Fantastic experience: Amazing tour made even better by our guide, Bluey. We started at the Brighton beach boxes, and then headed to the Moonlit Sanctuary- which was amazing! You can pay a small amount to feed the kangaroos and even get close up with a koala. We then headed to Philip island to a few beautiful stops before the penguin parade! Throughout the tour, Bluey was informative and hilarious. He made the drive time pass quickly and made everyone laugh along the way. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Our tour of Phillip Island and the penguin parade was absolutely fantastic. There was So much more to the tour. There was a lovely stop at a zoo where you could feed kangaroos and wallabies. There were several stops for picturesque photos. Our guide, Louie or Tom outstanding.

Fantastic experience: We hired a whole day Phillip Island Penguin Parade package with Go West Tours. Given that this was planned to be an whole day trip, we were initially a little worried since we were planning to travel with a 2 year old baby. Having completed the trip now, I would highly recommend this to anyone planning for a similar trip, including with a small baby. We absolutely loved the experience and responsiveness. We were lucky to have Bree as our guide, who was amazing, patient and extremely knowledgable. She helped explain a lot of history about Melbourne and all the places that we visited during the tour and the animals that we encountered. Even at the end of a long, tiring drive - she was kind enough to finish it off with some awesome recommendation for places to visit in/around Melbourne. Fantastic experience: We went to the Philip Island tour. Although the weather was not great (raining + thunderstorms) which resulted in the penguin parade being cancelled due to safety reasons by the Philip Island Natural Park (not the tour operator's fault) we still had a great day with our guide Alisha. She pointed out many animals along our way (echidna, wallaroos, and even penguins), which made this tour really worthwhile! We highly recommend this tour to everyone who happen to be in Melbourne!

Fantastic experience: This trip went to the Grampians and it was great. Dean our guide was very engaged and interesting and I learned a lot of interesting things I would not have otherwise learned. He was able to answer all my questions. It was a small tour, 8 participants and to be able to be part of a small tour is far nicer. Some valuable conversations were had on the way there and back.

Fantastic experience: Where to start? What an amazing tour we had. Fantastic experience: I had so much fun during the day trip to Phillip Island that our tour guide Israel energized the whole journey with music, stories, and jokes along the way. Israel also helped us to find wild animals on the island, and we were so lucky to see a penguin in its nest before we arrived at Penguin Parade. Fantastic experience: Alisha guided us. She provided very attentive and kind service. The homemade muffins and lamingtons were not only delicious, but she also spoke to us using simple English as we are not very proficient in English, and she carefully listened to each tour guest's requests. The Great Ocean Road was the perfect destination for the tour. Although it was an extra charge, I thought it was a wonderful experience to be able to take a helicopter ride over the 12 Apostles. Fantastic experience: The guide Camille and her companion Jono are very professional and friendly; she is a great driver who makes the trip on the bus very comfortable. She is very knowledgeable about the history and the places we visited and also gave us many recommendations of all kinds, restaurants, places to visit and the best times to do so... The tour is about 13 hours but it is worth it and both Camille and Jono make it very enjoyable.

Fantastic experience: The tour is highly recommended. The company offers several stops before reaching the 12 apostles, the peak of the trip. Our guide’s name is Bella, and she’s the best. Fantastic experience: After doing a lot of research, I decided to join the Penguin Parade tour with Go West. As a solo traveller, the small group size really worked for me and didn't feel too overwhelming. The tour was also a good balance of beach, scenic views, interactions with Aussie animals, and of course the penguin parade to end it off was a highlight. Our tour guide Bob was above and beyond with hospitality and made the trip really fun with snippets of trivia, wild-wallaby-spotting, and took great care of us through the turbulent weather. I've been recommending the tour to everyone I know and hope to go on another one when I'm back in Melbourne next!

Fantastic experience: My wife and I enjoyed the trip to Phillip Island. Initially, I had some misgivings about it, but after attending the event, chaperoned and guided by Terry, the gregarious, helpful, friendly, professional, and safe driver, I was fully convinced that it was worth both our money and time. Terry provided us with useful information about, and the history of, St. Kilda, the first place where we stopped. Fantastic experience: The tour allows me to visit several famous attraction point on the same day. It also includes some wild life protection areas which let me know where my money go and my money is worth paying for. The tour guy is very nice. Fantastic experience: Joined the Yarra Valley Food and Wine tour yesterday, and it was an amazing experience! The group size was perfect, allowing us to enjoy a variety of beverages, including red and white wine, sparkling wine, gin, and whisky. Besides the wine, I loved visiting the local dairy and chocolate factory. Bree, our tour guide, was exceptional—she was responsible, considerate, and genuinely caring. Not only is he a great speaker, but he filled the tour with fascinating facts and jokes that kept us entertained during the drives. Fantastic experience: I booked through Gotoguide and they directed me to Go West Tour for a 13-hour day trip to the '12 Apostles and Rainforest'. It was a very interesting tour that I highly recommend to anyone visiting Melbourne. Fantastic experience: I recommend it to all Japanese people. I participated in a tour to Phillip Island alone. It had much more content than I imagined, and I was satisfied with every point, ultimately being able to observe the behavior of wild penguins up close. At the Penguin Parade venue, so many tourists gathered that it became unclear whether they came to see the penguins or tourists from around the world. I was surprised by how many people tried to take pictures even though it was prohibited. Since you can't take good photos with a smartphone anyway, let's just engrave it in our memories. Also, during the cold season, having something like a cushion for seating makes it comfortable. I was anxious about participating alone, but the guide Bree was bright and kind, explaining everything clearly enough for someone like me who isn't great at English to understand. She asked me on the bus ride back what other trips I like and recommended the Great Ocean Road tour. The Great Ocean Road tour I participated in two days later with Badgie also had unbelievably good weather. By the way, right now outside my hotel room, there's a fierce thunderstorm. Since all the participants could speak English, I only understood about 30% of his English, but after downloading an app and reading the explanations in Japanese, I was able to understand the gist of it. Budgie was considerate to my anxiety, making a map with the meeting times, bathrooms, and recommended shops, which made it easy to understand. Both Bree and Budgie pointed out wild kangaroos and koalas while driving, and they multitasked like professionals, being both drivers and DJs, which impressed me deeply. Thank you for a truly fulfilling time from morning till night. I will join the Go West tour again when I come to Melbourne.

Fantastic experience: I participated in the Atlantic Road 12 Apostles and Penguin Return Tour. The guides Robert and Monique were warm and friendly. Since the 12 Apostles Road is quite far, the whole day was about 13 hours. At the first stop, the guide even brought some pastries and hot coffee, which felt especially thoughtful in the cold winter. In addition to the attractions on the tour itself, they also introduce other good restaurants or attractions in the city. The Penguin Return is very spectacular, highly recommended! Each time we disband, the meeting time is clearly stated and written on a whiteboard. The itinerary is well-timed.

Fantastic experience: The whole schedule is well planned. The coach is comfortable, so I do have several sleeps on the way. The tourist guide is very funny and informative, it feels like that he also enjoys the trip. Just don’t need to worry about anything at the trip

Fantastic experience: Went on a Grampian day tour with Go West on 12th Aug. Guide Jaimes was lovely and kept us entertained throughout the trip. Grampian is a long journey from melbourne cbd, but there are stop breaks in between. Visited lots of amazing sights in a day, and sufficient time spent in each place for pictures and admiring the view. Lunch was not provided, but there are a number of choices available at the town for your choosing

Fantastic experience: in August 2024 , Bree who was our excellent tour guide for the Great Ocean road sunset tour , she had drove through the tour, passed around participant calls, made announcements and guided. I thought she had a hard job, but all the tour participants must have been very happy because of it. I had a wonderful experience that we saw on the way to the main destination as well , stopping at a beautiful beach and stopping to spot koalas in the wild. I appreciate for really nice experience !! Fantastic experience: Went for the Philip Island Tours with Go West and honestly it was the best decision ever. Having tried two other local operators… nothing can compare to the service that Go West provides. Free wifi, friendly guides, baby booster seat and their guides give you genuine service. Big thanks to Dean for bringing us around for the Philip Island Tour! Appreciate his bubbly and funny personality. Fantastic experience: I'm glad that we had Michael as our tour guide! Although the weather was not good for watching the sunset on the Great Ocean Road yesterday (2 Sep), Michael was always cheerful and encouraging, playing lovely songs and bringing positive energy. Michael shared lots of stories and knowledge at each checkpoint, and I learned a lot from him. Windy days create a unique and special view of the Great Ocean Road with huge waves! Michael takes care of all the passengers' needs; he even changed the drop-off point to our hotel for safety! He leads us to find koalas, captures the beauty of the great waves for us, and waits with us for the sunset despite the strong winds. Michael definitely made my day, and this is the best tour I have ever been on!

Fantastic experience: We had a great time along the great ocean road to the 12 apostles with our tour guide Jools and Gumnut!!! She did an unbelievably fantastic job throughout the whole day. From the moment she met us, she was very cheerful and friendly. Throughout the journey along the great ocean road, she stopped at many stops to make sure we can get fantastic photos of the view and we even took a group photo in one of the spots, it was amazing! She made sure everyone was there on the bus before leaving and even remembered all our names and gave us personal gifts at the end of the tour, how amazing is that! Also lucking enough, we saw a wild koala at a very close distance all thanks to Jools spotting the koala, it was amazing. Love the whole tour love the people very nice trip!!! (Gumnut the mascot is very lovely thankssss!)

Fantastic experience: What a fabulous, fun, adventurous day exploring Brighton beach bath houses, moonlit animal park, and Phillip Island with Go West! Fantastic experience: Wonderful day with Mark. He introduced different stories of the spots clearly and brought us to observe them. The bus is comfortable. The tour route is not tight, so we have enough time to take photos and enjoy the beautiful views.

Fantastic experience: Such a lovely day! Alisha was our tour guide and was so bubbly, friendly and informative. Driver, storyteller, photographer, doctor (motion sickness) - she had it all. We managed to see two koalas and interact with many of the wild birds, as well as seeing a wallaby out in the wild. Would recommend x

Fantastic experience: Me and my family was on the tour to The Great Ocean Road at the 10th of September. We was guided by Bree who is very kind hearted, fun, and filled with lots of positive energy that she spreads among us all. At the pickup point, she greeted us excitedly as we were guided to get on the caravan. All of the tour members from around the globe were also very nice which made the tour fantastic. We stopped at several points where some of them are short stops while the others are longer. We passed the peaceful countryside along our road trip. As you can see from the photos below, we visited several beaches where we had a morning coffee, saw several cockatoos, spotted sleeping koalas (can you find it between the eucalyptus trees? ), stopped at lots of fascinating photo spots, and last but not least we enjoyed the stunning scenery of The Twelve Appostles. As the tour goes by, Bree informed us with lots of historical story from each place we visited. She really has numerous knowledge about them. Honestly, we really enjoy the trip. It was an unforgettable journey and I really recommend it to you guys. Don't forget to book your tour only at Go West Tours✌. For Bree, thanks a lot for a super memorable day we spent together. Positive experience: 10/10 Tour guide 2/10 Tour bus 10/10 Phillips Island 3/10 Penguin Parade 10/10 Dusty the Camel Frank our tour guide was fantastic lots of trivia, charm and personal anecdotes. Answered lots of questions. He battled a broken seat belt in vain then kept us entertained as a new bus arrived. He also had to troubleshoot the bus again on the road so we had another unscheduled stop. But he worked hard to keep the mood light. The bus was tight and as a plus size passenger I’m very glad it was only on a half day trip. I’m 5’6 and my legs were squished so not sure how everyone else felt maybe I had a bad seat. Because of all the bus delays we did not get to do the first part of the tour to visit the Seal Rocks and the Nobbies. Big bummer for me I was looking forward to it and the area looked amazing. Frank did a drive by with commentary and we saw a bunch of wallaby and geese along the way. The Penguin Parade was actually stressful and upsetting. The event was understaffed and attendees behaved horribly and didn’t follow the rules disrupting and stressing the penguins. Frank was still keeping things fun on our way home with Australia trivia. Will definitely be back to Phillips Island, will never go back to the Penguin Parade, would love to take another tour with Frank but am honestly not sure if my big beautiful body can make it another 4 hours in those bus seats. Much appreciation to my fellow bus travelers who were fun and respectful of the animals and each other. Many thanks and well wishes to Frank and Dusty the Camel for making the trip worth it overall.
