Fantastic experience: Norway in Depth - June 2024 This was our second itinerary booked through 50 degree north but the first fully escorted. The tour was a very well managed small group tour. The smaller numbers meant a more flexible itinerary. The tour included a number of active activities - RIB boats, outdoor & indoor museums, Skylifts, City walking tours, ferry crossings, hikes. The scenery was fantastic. We also arranged for 50 degree north to put together an additional itinerary for a further 8 day self drive from Tromso to Lofoten Islands which also included further activities. What a fantastic holiday!!

Fantastic experience: I researched many companies, their agents and their offerings, before deciding on 50 Degrees North for a trip to the Aurora Village in Lapland, Finland, and that decision led to a flawless trip. Our US-based agent, Jeff, answered all our questions so quickly and thoroughly and even helped us make the informed choice of when it would be best to go. He agreed with our decision to spend the night in Helsinki before and after our trip north and arranged hotels that reflected our wishes and budget. When we opted not to take the private transfer into the city, he very honestly offered that taxis would be a safe and economical option. Fantastic experience: 50 degrees north are the best company we have dealt with in 50 years of travel. Our tour Chase The Northern lights went above and beyond our expectations. Everything was catered for, Aurora cabins in Ivalo were amazing and the meals were 5 star. Our Havila ship cabins were spacious and comfortable and meals were amazing. Our guide Jens was always pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended

Fantastic experience: Just done a trip of a lifetime with 50 degrees North. "Experience the Northern lights tour". Very professional company who use excellent hotels, modern transport, knowledgeable friendly guides & a heap of fun activities & excursions to experience in beautiful Norway & Finland. I also had an add on itinerary at the completion of the tour. Again a fabulous hotel in Helsinki, very posh airport transfers & the best walking guide in Tallinn. Loved every moment. Now I want to see more of Norway in a different season but I did especially love the snowy scenery, just magical. Highly recommend!

Firstly Moscow which was fantastic....the large ornate buildings, Kremlin, wide streets. Fast train to St Petersburg excellent and what a beautiful city! Awesome and full of surprises. Hotels and food so good, pickups perfect as were our tour guides. Terrific train to Helsinki.....another gorgeous city and absolutely adored Tallinn and Riga. Fantastic experience: Thank you 50 Degrees North...I can now die and go to heaven happy after gorging on fresh Arctic King Crab at Kirkenes. We watched the hole being cut in the ice, the crabs pulled to the surface which were then steamed and served to us still deliciously warm. The crabs are HUGE! Thank you so much to Eric and his wife who were the greatest of hosts. Arriving by sled made it seem like a experience out of a fairy story. (Plus, we saw the Northern Lights for 4 nights!)

Fantastic experience: We just returned from a trip to Scandinavia designed for us by the team at 50 degrees north and it was sensational! I cannot commend the organising skills of our agent Alice, who had everything sorted for us to clockwork timing. The itinerary was perfect, the hotels even better than anticipated and the entire experience exploring Sweden, Denmark and Norway amazing. I am not a person who usually uses an agent or company to book trips for me as I prefer to do it all myself so that it suits my needs - but this time I did, based on reviews for 50 degrees north, and I am so very pleased that I made that decision. There is no way that I could have sorted everything out so perfectly as it was done for us. Anyone considering taking the self guided "tour" of Scandinavia as we did, which includes the Norway in a Nutshell option, and some time on one of the Hurtigruten ships, I can thoroughly recommend it. At our own pace with our own preferences for time and places to visit, but with the expertise and local knowledge to make sure everything was perfect. To top things off, we even managed to see the Northern Lights out of Tromso on our last night (this was a separate booking from another company, but certainly added to the entire experience). Thank you to all at 50 degrees north - I am forever indebted to you for helping sort this holiday for me and for whatever part your organisation played in getting the stars arranged in the universe so that I could top of the trip with a vision of the northern lights!! Fantastic experience: I travelled with 50 Degrees North this May 2014 to Russia, Estonia and Finland with a group of female friends. Wow factor all the way. Vibrant, clean, safe and fashionable cities - loved it. The guides throughout were wonderful and helpful. Moscow & St.Petersburg were really eye-opening - ballet and operas were brilliant. I loved the Royal boxes at the theatres and the private transfers made us feel very safe and special. The guides and drivers were very versatile and adapted to our needs. We really got to appreciate to meet the locals and got a feel of the real people. Guides took their time to explain traditions and current political situation. Loved the food and restaurants plus guides arranging casual picnics & taking us to the markets. Estonia was absolutely fantastic - amazed by the feel of Tallinn within the walls. Enjoyed arriving on Mother's Days, listening to choirs in the old town. Beautiful old boutique hotel was very appreciated. Really loved the meringues for breakfast in the hotel - wow again. Riga fantastic as well. Trains and transfers were fine - really appreciated the upgrades. Thanks very much, please pass on my thanks to the great guides.

Fantastic experience: We wanted to see the Northern Lights and to maximise our chances, we sought the advice of 50 Degrees North. They were teriffic and put together a holiday that suited our needs. The holiday was great and everything went so smoothly thanks to 50 Degrees planning. We felt like royalty on the trip with private guides and drivers. We had meals provided where we needed them and had free choices where there was abundant choice. Gemma at 50 Degrees was great to deal with and provided excellent guidance. And yes, we did get to see the Northern Lights on multiple occasions. Absolutly fantastic!

Fantastic experience: We booked a dream holiday with 50 degrees north and have to say that the booking process has been so easy. Our consultant Tom has been brilliant. I’m sure I asked a lot of difficult questions and we have some specific requirements that needed addressing and Tom was always able to find a solution that worked perfectly for us. Booking this holiday and dealing with 50 degrees north has been a brilliant, stress free experience. Let’s hope the trip is just as good. I would absolutely recommend 50 degrees north to everyone. Fantastic experience: I have had a wonderful 5 days in Finnish Lapland, thanks to 50 Degrees North. I booked the Finnish Lapland Short Winter Break tour package, and my partner and I truly had an amazing time on the snowmobiles, sled dog rides and simply being in the cold. I was also thankful that the package included the hiring of snow boots and a snow suit. My warmest and thickest jackets were incomparable to proper snow gear. As someone who had never even snow, I had a few questions and I always received a reply (the delay due to different time frames was understandable). The itinerary was perfect; as it gave us many things to do but also enough time to walk about and explore. Never thought I could just walk to Sweden! The accommodation was beautiful. To wake up with the sight of a frozen river and listen to nothing but the cold air and birds was the best. All of the hotel staff and tour guides were lovely, and I really liked they how had a strong focus on environmental sustainability. I hope to see another Nordic country with 50 Degrees North in the near future.

Fantastic experience: A seamless and spectacular 2 weeks. Hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, boating, driving, eating, drinking and sleeping all just really perfect.

Positive experience: Recently returned from 15 day "Experience the Northern Lights" Tour which was very enjoyable with plenty of memorable sights/attractions and an experienced and knowledgeable Tour Guide (Cameron). Were fronted with some issues on Day 1 through late cancellation and non availability of our allocated boat due to custom release problems. Compromise was required including reduced time spent on replacement boat which had left Bergen 2 days earlier. Compensating time was spent in Kirkenes and all in all despite the fractured agenda the revised format was managed well under the guidance of our Tour Guide who was very "hands on" and supportive. Extra touches were provided during the tour to maintain group harmony and reasonable compensation offered promptly at the conclusion of Tour. Highlights for us were Snow Hotel in Kirkenes and Aurora Cabins in Inari. Thanks for the memories.

Fantastic experience: Hello Team, We returned home on the 21st January 2023 after our” Experience the Northern Lights” 15 Day tour to Norway / Finland. This experience could only be described as magical, breathtaking, unforgettable, and life changing. As neither of us had ever seen snow before this journey was full of WOW moments. The scenery was spectacular at every turn. The experiences of the husky safari, reindeer safari, snow mobiling, and king crab safari were awesome. The big bucket list item was to see the Northern Lights, and they certainly didn’t disappoint. The hotels, cabins, glass roof igloo, and of course the Havila Castor were all first class. The food was amazing, and there was plenty of it!! To have a tour leader as passionate about his job as Cameron Benson made our journey even more enjoyable. His attention to detail, his genuine interest in people, and knowledge about the areas we visited, left no doubt that this certainly is the career meant for him. Fantastic experience: Just got home from a 12 day trip to Norway and Finland with 50° North. These folks took care of everything. They were so patient with all of my requests, and I wanted to do a ton of things! They made the exact itinerary to fit in all of the places and activities I wanted. We stayed in beautiful accomodations and had transfers between all locations so we never had to worry about a thing. Norway was amazing. The mountains and fjords were breathtaking and the northern lights were the icing on the cake. We went ice fishing for king crab, snowmobiling in the polar night, husky dog sledding, reindeer sleigh ride, and we stayed in the snowhotel and glass roofed cabins. It was a trip of a lifetime and we are so grateful.

Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful time the whole experience including all the staff made our holiday which was a bucket list of ours & our honeymoon, we went out on numerous trips they all lived up to & above our expectations. We went on a 2hr snowmobile sleigh ride our guide was brilliant took great care of us we thing his name was Wellu, the restaurant staff were brilliant they catered to my allergies we can praise this place or the trip enough there are not enough stars to rate this place it is off the charts. Thank you for a wonderful holiday Aurora Village & 50 Degrees North we have memories that will be with us forever.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I did the six day Lofoten Islands tour offered by 50 Degrees North. The tour is simple, they provided us a rental car, accommodations for two nights each at three Rorbuer hotels scattered across the islands, and a couple of scheduled day tours. Most of the time, we were on our own to see the islands at our own pace. The islands are stunningly beautiful, and the tour planning made our travels hassle free. They even scheduled lunch for us at an organic goat farm, which may sound a little strange for a vacation like this, but that is only because you haven't tasted the cheese. (Best lunch ever!) At our request, they altered the tour slightly so that we could begin the tour in Svolvaer and end it six days later at the airport in Leknes. We can't imagine a more complete tour of the islands in six short days.

Fantastic experience: 50 Degrees did a terrific job creating an adventure with a lot heart, nature and adrenaline but they considered all needs of the client and locked in the finest detail. Working with Annika on their team was an absolute pleasure. During travel, the team helped wonderfully as well. Will work with them again!

Fantastic experience: Recommended company with knowledgeable organizers who put together a great, unique package. Due to pandemic uncertainty, we booked a Finnish Lapland vacation (Christmas at Sunday Morning) later than normal. 50DN was able to get our requested hotel and all activities (6) over the busy holiday period. Before the trip, they answered any questions (note: no issue in coordination, but there was a time delay as the company has an Australian office working staggered hours). During the trip, we never had to worry, call or address any issues - itinerary went as scheduled. Activities were simple but enjoyable with husky’s, reindeer and surprisingly ice fishing the highlights. The lodging was superior - very comfortable, extra details, and sauna in the family cabin. Food was excellent as well. If traveling as a family, just know it’s gourmet and may not be appreciated by younger children. In summary, this package is fantastic and ideal for families with older children. But with all travels nowadays, keep watching the COVID situation and don’t skip travel insurance and other flexibility options.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic travel company! Camilla Dahle was our agent and she took care of EVERY little detail. Meals, transport, accomodations and staff were all top notch. I cannot recommend this company enough!!! Aurora Estate and Levi Inglut in Finland with dogsledding, snowshoeing and seeing the aurora, ice fishing, snowmobiling, reindeer farm and sleigh ride, what a great time! A fantastic private dinner at the Aurora Estate log house complete with sauna and jacuzzi! Thank you for the trip of a lifetime!

Fantastic experience: Spent 2 weeks travelling in Norway. From start to finish beautifully organised. The staff were helpful and friendly. We were able to tailor our trip the way we wanted; were given excellent and intelligent advice. The hotels were spot on and the locations exactly what we were after! They also organised two city tour guides for us - who were brilliant. We will be returning and we will be going back with 50 Degrees North!

Positive experience: 50 Degrees North was the only company we found that had itineraries that closely matched our interests. They also customized one of their tours to include excursions that were more to our liking. When we had questions, they were promptly answered and the information they provided on the countries we'd be visiting and the weather we'd encounter was perfect.

All the guides were knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and just delightful. Our only disappointment was not getting to the North Cape, but that was Mother Nature's fault! Fantastic experience: Fantastic service and support from the 50 degrees north team. They helped book every aspect of our trip to see the northern lights in Finland, and we had a blast! Dogsledding, reindeer rides, snowmobiling, and we even got to experience the northern lights! They answered all of my annoying questions, and coordinated the entire trip right down to the warm clothing and boots we received at check in. I recommend the 50 degrees north team, and would definitely use them again.

Fantastic experience: Our tour in Norway was excellent. The accommodation choices were great and easy to locate. We would like to thank Kjetil who was our driver for 3 days during our journey from Aurland to Lillehammer and his personal attention. Nothing was too hard and he even managed to get us to the Olympic jump at Lillehammer which was a highlight. Things did not always go as planned, with snowfall closing the road to the Geiranger Lookout and the train was closed at Lillehammer to Oslo, so we took a bus first and then transferred to the train. We would definitely use 50 Degrees North again.

Fantastic experience: We have now used 50 Degrees North for 2 trips to the Scandinavian Region. The first being to Norway & the Svalbard Islands during their summer to witness the midnight sun. Recently we went on our second trip to Finland, Norway & Sweden in the middle of their winter to see the Northern Lights. Fantastic experience: It is four weeks since we returned from a fabulous trip to Iceland, and the afterglow continues. Thanks to Salla and 50 Degrees North, we had a wonderful two weeks experiencing a snap shot of Icelandic chemistry via an Iceland Country Life tour delivered by GJ Travel and additional days in Reykjavik. All aspects of the tour were close to perfect - extremely knowledgeable and accommodating guide, a diversity of attractions, excellent accommodation and food, and delightful company. Fantastic experience: This was an amazing trip and we are so happy we decided to rent a car and drive. Hege was amazing and mapped out a trip for us that was nature orientated and just what we were looking for. We found our roots and the town my grandmother was born in in 1898. All in all I want to go back!

Fantastic experience: We were a group of 4 adults who embarked on a holiday organised by Asko of 50 Degrees North. The 19 day trip chasing the Northern Lights through Finland, Norway and Iceland was absolutely exceptional!! The accommodation was fantastic and every night was luxurious and unique. The Arctic Light Hotel Polar + Rooms were amazing, the Kakslauttanen Kelo Glass Igloo particularly memorable as we watched the lights through the glass roof from our bed. The Kirkenes Snowhotel was a once in a lifetime and we all slept 8 hours surrounded by ice!!! The Clarion Collection Hotel With in Tromso was also a favourite with the beautiful harbour views and complimentary waffles each afternoon. We went on 2 x snowmobile adventures, had 2 x reindeer rides, drove a sledge with 6 dogs, met Santa, went King Crabbing (and ate way too much), spent two full days in Iceland doing the Golden Circle and the South Shore, and swam in the Blue Lagoon. We saw the lights on 4 separate nights including watching them dance through the sky from the top level of the Hurtigruten Boat. Asko organised a trip that exceeded our expectations and we are so grateful to have found her and 50 Degrees North. Professional, efficient, friendly and very knowledgeable. Thank you again for making this trip so special.

Fantastic experience: We were very impressed with the efficiency and friendliness of the staff at Fifty Degrees North who organised a 2 week experience for us in Norway. We told them what we wanted and they did all the organising. Everything worked extremely well and this involved travel by train, bus, ferry, plane, car hire and accommodation. When we arrived on a Hurtigruten ferry in Svolvaer on the Lofoten Islands at night we were met by a driver who took us to our accommodation which was superb - a rorbuer (an old fisherman’s hut). We would highly recommend a stopover (we had 3 nights) in Svolvaer if you are doing a Hurtigruten cruise. All the accommodation was first class and in a variety of interesting locations. When we were late collecting our car we had a friendly phone call to check that everything was OK. Thank you very much to all at Fiftydegreesnorth.

Negative experience: The trip did not match my expectations, I would never use a third party to book a trip again.

Fantastic experience: We took a 3+ week independent rail, ferry, bus, and train tour through Scandinavia and Finland organized by 50 Degrees North and the trip was spectacular because of the excellent work of Satu and Henna. This was a complex trip with lots of different transport and connections. All the reservations were in perfect order and the detailed itinerary was exceptional - every thing we needed was included to make the journey as smooth as possible. Before our trip all arrangements were made on the internet but 50 Degrees was very responsive to questions and additions to the trip. Once during the trip we had to call because a landslide delayed a train connection and the 50 Degree North representative was immediately helpful and responsive. We were totally pleased with the service and arrangements. I would recommend this company to anyone who wants a Nordic Adventure.
