Negative experience: This was the worst cargo service I have ever used. I sent six boxes, and they stole my valuable vitamins fish oils and Some foods. On top of that, the delivery took two and a half months! Absolutely unreliable and dishonest service. I would never use them again and do not recommend them to anyone.

Negative experience: I’m very disappointed with this cargo service. I initially paid $50 for the shipment from Melbourne, but the goods only arrived in Kadawatha three weeks past the ETA. To make matters worse, my father was charged an additional Rs. 6,000 at their Kadawatha store, allegedly for transport from the port to their location. This unexpected fee was never mentioned upfront, and the delay caused significant inconvenience. I wouldn’t recommend this service to anyone expecting timely and transparent shipping. Negative experience: Never trust this cargo service, my brother went to Sri Lanka and returned back again here to Australia but we still didn’t receive the cargo. We trusted their given deadlines when we inquired from them but upto date they still keep giving us excuses one after the other for the delay. Expect your delivery in 3-4 or more months and expect your delivery if you’re going ahead with them.

Positive experience: HBL No. 2309301 Serial No. 303 Delivery to 58, Medawelikada Road, Rajagiriya, Sri Lanka. Attn: Chandana I found that goods worth over $150 had been misappropriated from the box I shipped. Among the items lost are a perfume that cost me $140 (price at Duty Free, Estée Lauder, Pleasures) plus L’Oreal Hair colour products and other items which were included for my personal use while in Colombo. This is totally unacceptable and I wish to register my strongest protest against the service which was provided to me. I am certain that the Sri Lankan community here and the media would be interested to hear about these organised criminal activities. Negative experience: My father, Sumithra Mallikage went to clear two boxes on 23.12.2023 at around 9.40 am.There were 2 boxes sent which weight 25.6 Kg and 23.1 Kg. However, 1 box's was so wet from the top and there was a hole on that box and when my father asked about that, the people talked in very unprofessional way when he asked about the less weight. The behaviour of that employees were very unprofessional and not acceptable. My father is 70 years old and should not be treated in a such a way as we have paid for the service from your company. I called 3 times to Chandana from Melbourne office and gave him my father’s number to call and ask for the situation happened exactly. But now he is not answering the phone even. Negative experience: The worst cargo service ever I've dealt with. They misled us ,giving false information and agreed with us on a service that they never can provide anyhow. Kept on lieying us for a whole month , by saying that they are waiting for customs to be approved . When receiver raise the question why the boxes are opened they said the agent collected the goods. Negative experience: Relocated from Melbourne to Sri Lanka, used AUSTLAK CARGO from HALLAM, WARNING do not use them worst cargo company ever, was recommended so didn’t look at reviews - this is our fault. My goods came damaged, and in a terrible condition. Many of the boxes had been opened prior to customs inspection. We sent over 90 items, including tea chests ( so our losses in full will remain unknown) a count at the port was difficult as due to sheer volume items were in a number of locations. At home we know that we are missing about 3 tea chest size items. The people handing the clearance (AUSTLAK reps) at the port pay bribes and the expectation is that we cover these ‘payments. It was clear that when we mentioned missing items the representative became aggressive, all the hallmarks of a person trying to deflect from his corruption. You will also have to pay AUSTLAK fees to cover this representative’s bribes, for us it was Rs 1.6 Laks. As well as expectation to pay porters considerable amounts for doing their job. I don’t know how AUSTLAK is still in business after 75+ reviews and they only average 1.7 stars.. don’t be cheated like us and so many others..

Fantastic experience: We first started using Austlak cargo 4 years ago and used to send a couple of boxes every year. This year around, when we were looking for Austlak boxes to ship,- the agents/ shop owners advised against it saying that there had been long delays and that Austlak has closed down their operations. When I approached another shipping agent recommended by the Sri Lankan shop, they listed a lot of conditions and restrictions, which I felt were excessive. e.g. no more than 3 packs of milk powder, no more than 2 pack of fish oil etc. As it was not viable to send packages with so many restrictions, I decided to send my box once again through Austlak , even at a risk. The representative in Melbourne admitted that they had some issues which had been sorted. Whilst there were restrictions, they were not as bad (e.g. 6 packs of milk powder instead of 3 but even if there are more, it wouldn't matter as long as once can see that the shipments aren't for a business). Whilst I dropped off my box to the warehouse, I noted that they already had thousands of similar boxes and also larger items (e.g. refrigerators). Noting this to confirm that they are not out of business. I shipped my items in late October, which was delivered to my house in Colombo by early December (just as they promised). None of the items were lost and the communication was great throughout. I am pleased with their services and will continue to use only Austlak in future despite the negative reviews.

Fantastic experience: After hearing/reading all the bad reviews we were sceptical about sending goods via Austlak. Since we had a very bad experience with Transco (goods were damaged by mice and cockroaches) ourselves, we decided on Austlak as they assured safe delivery of our goods and for their reasonable prices. They admitted that they had issues in the past and that all have been resolved now. Our goods did take little over 2months to be delivered but all was in good condition.

I send three boxes, receipt attached and received totally damaged boxes at my home Sri Lanka, most of the stuff missing. When contacted they blame me that I send boxes with over weight without proper evidence. You can see how they handle the boxes. The person who spoke to me said my boxes are very heavy and he also text me that they have informed my wife when they come to collect the cash - which is totally a lie as I transferred cash online and they never came to my house to collect cash. Dear Kushantha, We clearly told when we collect the boxes if the heavy we can't give you any guarantee for the damage. All your boxes ware above 55 kilos and one of them was above 60 kilos. Negative experience: Was the worse experience ever with Auslak cargo. Multiple emails and phone calls are unanswered. Posted a box for parents in Colombo with some essential goods in January 2022. After Pre-paying and multiple attempts for them to be delivered at home in Colombo, parents (who are elderly) decided to collect it themselves on the second week of June 2022. Totally accept the fact, things are not easy in Sri Lanka, however honestly and courtesy to respond to emails/calls was not there from the office in Melbourne. Very disappointed and will never use it again.

Negative experience: The most unprofessional service I have ever had from a courier company. Sent a package with Austlak in January, been 3.5 months now and it has still not been delivered. Tried to contact them to get an update more than 10 times via email, phone (both Australian and SL numbers) to no avail. No one from this provider at least had the common courtesy to just acknowledge an email and say the package was getting delayed. Don't waste your time and money with them!

Negative experience: DO NOT USE THIS CARGO COMPANY! THEY ARE AN ABSOLUTE SCAM! YOU WILL LOSE BOTH YOUR MONEY AND YOUR GOODS! I handed over a cargo box to be delivered in December 2021. It has now been four months, and the goods are still missing. They do not respond to phone calls or emails, and apparently their office is now closed. Their delivery agents in Sri Lanka keep lying (that is, whenever they happen to answer their phones) that they will deliver the goods "next week", which has still not come to pass. They do not have a legally operating warehouse, so there's no saying what has happened to the goods which many customers, including me, have entrusted to them. This has been an ongoing problem since mid 2021, but they did not have the duty of care to inform customers that they are unable to deliver the goods, but have been happily charging all fees upfront. Their customer service is dismal, the two ladies working at the Hallam office couldn't care less about the customer sitting in front of them. I have sent them an email to say that I would be going to the ACCC for advice, to which Austlak has not even replied yet. Negative experience: I shipped three boxes to Sri Lanka via Austlak Cargo on 30 October 2021 and, based on Austlak shipping schedule on their website, was expecting the boxes delivered to my family in Sri Lanka before Christmas 2021. However, there was no news about the shipment and I was unable to get through to them via phone at all via their Sri Lankan or Australian telephone numbers. Finally on Dec 26th, someone on the Sri Lankan number answered and said that our boxes have arrived and are in the custom's warehouse and warned that delivery might take a while due to their backlog. Since January 2022 I have been trying to get through again via phone, whatsapp, and email to Austlak without success. Then I contacted Consumer Affairs Victoria and explained the situation and asked for their guidance. They said that under Section 62 of Consumer Act on reasonable time for supply of services, I can make a formal complaint and they can look into it. However, they asked me to write to Austlak Cargo again mentioning that if they did not respond within a reasonable time then I will be lodging a formal complaint. When I emailed Austlak with this information, magically, they replied two days later and told me that my boxes are still at the Customs warehouse and they will try hard to get it to Austlak warehose within two weeks. Things were quiet for over three weeks and I was unsuccessful contacting them again. Then I emailed them again saying that I was now going to contact Consumer Affairs and ask them to follow up. Suddenly on the 23rd of March, my three boxes were delivered. While I am extremely disappointed with the delay in delivery and the lack of professionalism displayed by the company, I must acknowledge that each and every item I had shipped in the boxes were there and nothing had been stolen or lost.

Negative experience: No.1 Liars, time wasters, and robbers are at the top of the list. I sent them four boxes in October 2021 and received an email stating that they would be delivered in early January 2022. Since then, no one has answered the phone, Facebook comments have been disabled, emails have gone unanswered, and the warehouse has been closed. After 6 months, the product was finally delivered. All of the multivitamins I sent to my old parents were stolen. This cargo should never be used. Worst in the country. Austlak cargo, you are a disgrace. Instead of stealing, get a real job. Not even worth to give 1 star. Shame on you!!!!

Negative experience: I sent a box to Sri Lanka and the expected arrival date was in early January 2022. Now this is mid March and they keep telling me that the box will be delivered today, each day. I got to know from a customs officer that they have not even cleared the box yet as their warehouse is full (because they use only a small lorry to transport boxes). There are food in that box that expire this month. I don’t recommend this service to anyone.

Negative experience: It was a shocking experience I had with the cargo, cargo was suppose to arrive before Christmas, but they didn’t, I never got a information of what happened, apology. We have been calling from Melbourne and from srilanka every day. If they familiar with the tel no. Srilanka people don’t answer the phone. We had to try with few different phone. For god sake if you open a business in australia, do it according to Australian standard not Srilankan standard. Negative experience: Never... Never... Never send goods with these guys to Sri Lanka.. I had a extremely bad experience..They said goods will be delivered within 2 months to home in Sri Lanka. I had booked and paid for door to door delivery.. But they don't clear the goods from custom on time.. I am still waiting for a delivery which was collected by them on 4/10/21. Promised delivery in 2 months which I understand is due to Covid. However it is now almost 4 months. The year before too the boxes which were collected on 17/10/20 were delivered on Christmas Day. In 2019 the boxes which were collected in September reached the destination closer to Christmas. They keep lying about the delivery date. I was promised delivery by 20/1/22 when I got through to them eventually, but when I contacted them today (28/1) they tell me that the container will reach the warehouse next Wednesday 2/2/22. They blame the Sri Lanka customs for the delay and their mediocre service. The Sri Lanka office does not answer the phone. The most appalling service I have ever used. Extremely incompetent. I had to give them one star in order to start the post unfortunately. They deserve none.

Negative experience: Late, MIA and Stealing! Very disappointed with their service. The Oct 2021 boxes delay was handled so badly on the customer front. I can’t comment on how they managed the delays at the back end but customer service management was appalling. They weren’t proactive or forthcoming with updating, in fact completely avoided the customer’s queries. To add to all this, items in boxes were stolen! That is just unforgivable. Never again!

I have sent two boxes in september 2021, but now its mid january 2022, the boxes have not yet been delivered. They rarely answer phone calls and dont give proper information. They blame sri lankan customs but mny of my friends who have sent from other cargo services have not had any problem. Please dont send through this cargo service.

Negative experience: Not even one star to be given. Absolutely useless. Handed over my cargo on the 25th of September, Now when we call they don’t answer the phones. Some one in Sri Lanka had called my mom & asked for her identity card number and full name, today is poya in Sri Lanka these people are trying to steal the boxes. Someone is trying to fake the identity and claim the cargo. Will never ever handover any more cargo to This Company. Such a shame. All hard earned money gone to waste. Will never recommend this company to anyone

Negative experience: Absolutely disappointing! No one is responding the phone calls, emails or text messages to follow-up the status of my goods. It's been over 2 months, I still have not received my boxes in SL and no news. No one response. Chose this cargo service on a recommendation of a friend. Really disappointing! This is my first and last time with them. Do not recommend anyone to use this company.

Negative experience: Please Refrain from using this service. It is a scam and you will never have your goods delivered to Sri Lanka. Anyone can write a positive review but the overwhelming negative response should be sufficient to send any warning. This company will delay your delivery and if by some sheer luck it manages to get to Sri Lanka all goods would be tampered with or missing entirely. Use this company at your peril.

Negative experience: Avoid at all costs, Austlak is a SCAM. They don't deserve a single star. I shipped in September but still haven't delivered. My shipment has been due since last October21, no one bothers to answer phone calls, zero customer service and no transparency. Austlak seem to have changed their local agent who clears shipments from SL customs recently hence all Austlak customers need to submit additional documentation and massive delay clearing goods. They still remain silent despite multiple emails, whatsapp messages and calls made to confirm an ETA. My next step is to take this up with the consumer ombudsman in Australia as I do not see any other avenue to get this sorted. My advise is for everyone to stay away from Austlak.

Negative experience: First and last time I will use them. Have sent packages via Trico and Transco for years and years and have never had an issue. It arrives, receiver gets notified and they go collect or organise for delivery. I sent 3 packages to 3 different receipients in July. One was home delivered on 27Dec all in good condition. The other two which were on the same shipment are in limbo. When my family contacts them after multiple attempts they get through to someone who randomly tells them package is yet to be cleared !! Or they are trying to locate them, there's a backlog! Honestly ! All 3 boxes were on the one shipment one has been home delivered already how is it possible that the other 2 are not cleared yet ?? I must say that initially the Melbourne office was very good with their communication and assistance however since December (prior to Christmas break) calls have gone unanswered. I have sent texts, sent messages via messenger with HBL#'s for someone to take action. Communication is key. I will be in touch with the ACCC if I do not have a resolution within the next week. Update * All 3 packages have now been received.

Negative experience: Terrible service ever, I will never ever use this company again to send boxes. We been trying to contact SL office and Melbourne office last 4 weeks, no one responded from Melbourne office and neglected their service. We have to make 40 to 50 calls per day to get someone to answer SL office phone and even then they just trying to ignore our questions and say they don’t know about boxes or they don’t know when it will arrive or delivered. I have send 6 boxes in October second week container and they suppose to deliver before Christmas. Still they don’t know where the boxes are, staff of Serendib says Austlak has no place to keep their boxes and they didn’t take any boxes from opened 3 containers in Serendib warehouse for delivery. Do Not Use AustLak.

Negative experience: No stars. I am still waiting for a delivery sent on September 2021 for a door to door. Its a very irresponsible company who doesn't have any accountability for the service they are providing. 1. Does not answer the phones- in Sri Lanka or Australia 2. Even they answer they put the blame on the Customs and festive period, but I had confirmation that Austlak hasn't been providing the releasing documents to the customs. 3. Lying to the customers saying the container is unloaded when its not actually. 4. Doesn't respond the email. Update. The boxes were picked up at the warehouse following multiple pushing through Melbourne and Sri Lanka office and Customs. Glad the items were intact and none stolen. However, the customer care is terrible, literally cant get connected through phone calls for updates. Unless you sit on their office and get them to follow-up then and there, you will not get any outcome.

Negative experience: Terrible Service Poor customer service. No one answer the phone in the distribution centre in Sri Lanka. Extremely delay in delivering boxes. We sent 2 boxes in 7th of September (exactly 4 months ago). Still they haven't delivered them. When we ask from the Hallam office every time they give the same old answer. Do not trust their service. Not recommend to anyone.

Positive experience: This is my 3rd shipment Door to Door, no shortages, all boxes were delivered in very good condition, though the shipments during Christmas were delayed. The tracking system should be improved to at least provide info like, "Ship not Arrived", "Goods Not Cleared", "Cleared Awaiting Delivery" etc.

Negative experience: We send 3 boxes and paid the duty as well . Recently the container arrived to Sri Lanka and we were told that we can collect the boxes. But with the Christmas holidays they were closed and we collect it today. All the boxes been damage and alot of items were missing from the 3 boxes . So sad about the service . This business is a fraud. Don’t ever send from AUSTLAK cargo Hallam. One of the worst companies here in Melbourne.

More than 3 months now. Very irresponsible company. No customer service at all. I do not recommend to anyone as this is not the first time it has happened.

They have blocked my number and my family in Colombo too. Can someone help me with the warehouse contact number. I did a door to door but happy to collect it from the warehouse. Negative experience: WORST EVER SERVICE, USELESS & NOT RECOMMENDED !!! I have tried this cargo service to send 3 TC boxes to Sri Lanka. This is the worst ever cargo service I found in Australia. I have handed over the boxes on 05th September 2021 to be picked from their warehouse in Colombo. Still the shipment is not ready for collection even after 3 months (today is 22/12/2021). Initially they advised me it will be ready for pickup on 18/11/2021. Since then I had to call both their office in Colombo and Melbourne so many times, but still they could not provide a firm date for the pickup. Every time they claim a delay in custom to cover their fault. Most of the times they do not answer the phone, so it is very hard to get someone on the phone though. The cargo services I used before only took 6-8 weeks maximum even for home delivery. This is the worst out of all and I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND to use this service for shipping any goods to Sri Lanka. UPDATE 14/01/2022: Finally after hundreds of calls they have released the boxes on 10/01/2022. (took 4 months). Half of the goods were expired and useless, seems nothing has been stolen though. They charged LKR 2200 per box as clearing charges. Not sure this delay was something beyond their control, but they should have inform us and action proactively if that was the case. Anyway never use this service again.

I lost a lot of goods.They are saying that there was a special unit in custom and they have detained that goods.It is not a valid reason as that's why we are sending goods through an agent and agent should take the responsibility to deliver the goods via whatever process in the custom.we are not sending goods to taken by the custom.However they haven't refund my delivery charges and they are not answering the phone. Negative experience: Dissapointed. This company is a fraud. I got the below information from customs sri lanka. I will write this to local Australian government (consumer.vic.gov) I've lost more than $ 1000 worth goods in December 2021. My goods were sent under a name call "Ekanayake". As a result, I cannot release my own goods. I've got all the documents and if anyone wish, I will provied documents. There are UPB bonded warehouses operate under Sri Lanka customs, 1.Trico colombo, galle, kurunagala 2.Ceylon Shipping Lines CSL colombo, kandy, Batticalo 3.TRANSCO Wattala, Batticalo 4.LAKSIRI SEWA paliyagoda 5.SLPA new Nuge Road 6. Midco Paliyagoda They operate clearance of unaccompanied personal baggage in sri lanka. Austlsk cargo is not a legal registered UPB bonded operator.. Door to door services carried out by such companies are illegal activity. Cannot be monitored bcs real consignee/passenger are not present for customs clearance process like the registered UPB operators. Any way ask for Detention notice issued by Customs for any item detained.. *Dog food is licensed item, and need animal quarantine approval also.* But for small quantity at upb some officers will allow as personal effects not for Sale. As per customs we can send items in a small scale. Even dog food, vitamin, cosmetics etc etc.... Don't ever use this shipping line again.

Negative experience: I had a very bad experience when dealing with this company. I sent 3 boxes to SL with them and the mentioned cut off date was 27 th August as per my memory. They came to pick up the boxes by 31st August. They expected to deliver the items during 1st week of November. Since my parents had to leave the country by 9th November, I contacted them during the 1st week of November asking possibility of delivery before my parents leave. They said that the boxes were already arrived SL and they were doing their best to send them before my parents leave. However it didn’t work. I was able to contact them once after my parents leave and they sent me the revised HBL number with the new delivery address. After that I was not able to contact them eve though I tried hard. I gave them many telephone calls and sent them email asking the update. Finally, I sent them a complaint letter via consumer affairs asking the update of the goods end of November. I didn’t think they even care about that email. Since we didn’t get any update or any communication from Melbourne office my sister contacted their SL warehouse staff and noted that the boxes were arrived to the warehouse before a week in last Saturday (4/12).I asked my sister to collect the boxes from the warehouse as they didn’t give any responsible feedback regarding the delivery of goods to the given address. My sister was able to pick up the boxes from the warehouse last Saturday. So disappointed to see that many items were missing. 4 packets of 1kg milk powder, 5 bottles of vitamins, 4 packets of Lindt chocolates, around 10 packets of biscuits were missing. Almost all boxes which has small sachet were opened and some were taken , for example I sent oat boxes which has 10 sachets but only 6 were their. This has happened to many packeting items which has individual sachets. They returned 4 fish oil bottles separately in a plastic bag out of the 9 vitamin bottles I sent.I had no worries of stolen food items as I believe someone who took it who need food indeed. We can make our mind by thinking we have donated food to someone who need. But it is nice if someone is there who would say sorry to the inconvenience they cause to my relations.I strongly believe that this is not the right way to do the business. I have never seen a company who dealt with their customers in such an irresponsible manner. Anyway I have no hatred feeling towards them and just wanted to let others know that what was actually happened. Because I know any one who are using this service is really caring their loved ones in Sri Lanka and they do not want to make their relatives disappointed with the love they sent with the items.
