Positive experience: Stayed for 5 nights in mid November. I did leave for a few nights and then return and the difference in rooms I was given was very apparent. My first room featured a bathroom which was quite dirty with stains in the bathtub and aircon unit leaking. The second room was much nicer, with two showers rather than one and the toilet and sinks separate. The kitchen was well equipped with pots, pans, cutlery and utensils, as well as a microwave, air fryer and several kettles and toasters. There is a fair amount of dry and cold storage too. The kitchen however shut at 8pm, which felt unnecessarily early. The staff were all lovely and happy to help, in particular Jenny on the front desk she was so polite! Overall I would stay here again.

Fantastic experience: Teegan was a friendly face to welcome us into our first night at nomads, very approachable and very kindly upgraded us to a private room which was amazing. Negative experience: They didn’t clean our room… Still dirty clothes in there the floor was very dirty. No AC.

Positive experience: A nice enough hostel. I had a nice room but only after I requested to be moved as my original room was disgusting. I did find bugs frequently in my room as well. Overall service was great. I wouldn’t recommend staying here for more than a few days.

Fantastic experience: Great experience with Nomads Airlie. We had a shared dorm room one night - 2 showers and separate toilet which is great when sharing with 7 people. Staff were super friendly and on our return they helped me and my girlfriend upgrade to a private room which was lovely, clean and spacious. Locationally was brilliant plenty of bars, restaurants and cafes close by also within walking distance of the marina for whitsunday boat trips and jet ski tours. I’d ignore ‘you’re VIP’s we’ll check you in ASAP’ check in was always 2pm or later!

Positive experience: Lovely stay at Nomads, rooms were large and clean as well as staff being around majority of the day who were friendly.Felt safe at night with security at the property. Extremely good location near the lagoon and along the strip. A little further away from the greyhound bus stop but definitely worth the extra steps. One thing to note was that there are no hooks in the bathrooms to hang up towels whilst showering which did become annoying at times!

Negative experience: Scam - Not at all how it is shown on the photos! The room is absolutely disgusting - the sheet on the bed is definitely not changed - there are plenty of black hairs in it and footprints from the guest(s) before. The mattress is horrible - you can feel every spring in it. The rest of the room is terrible too - everything is broken or mouldy. The nightlamp doesnt work. The blinds dont shut completely - so everyone walking past can look into the room, the water in the sink is always running as the tap is so old it cant be closed properly, the fridge broken and rusty etcetc... This place is a pure scam and nothing like on the photos... We contacted the hostel twice - never got a response.

Negative experience: Good: Location close to the beach Bad: - Super noisy all night even on weekdays. People partying all night, smoking weed plus loud bar right next door. - Unpowered sites are about the same size as a parking slot, so if you have a big car or a side opening roof tent you won't fit. Also means no privacy at all. - Only a hand full of showers and toilets for hundreds of campers, spend hours waiting in line for the bathrooms. There are more bathrooms but they were closed off. Ended up using public bathrooms instead, they were cleaner too. - Incompetent reception staff - With $35 per night for an unpowered site definitely overpriced, stayed at better free camps.

Our camp facilities are undergoing renovations currently and we understand that at peak time the available showers get very busy! We have staff rostered throughout the day and evening to keep on top of the cleanliness. We will have more of these available shortly once the refurbishments are finished. As it's currently Airlie Beach Music Festival town is very lively with artists from all over the world here to perform. It is a busy time and as we are located in central Airlie Beach it is noisier than usual. Drugs are not permitted on the property and we are sorry to hear of this, we have security on site throughout the night and will ask them to keep a close eye on the campground. Positive experience: Location was fantastic! Close to everything, staff were also fantastic and super helpful. Although what was disappointing was our private room, in my opinion it can do with a bit more of clean! And the kitchen most definitely needs to be looked at, it was dirty, unorganised and some stoves were not working.

Fantastic experience: I BOOKED A POWERED SITE! I booked a powered site, gas worked fine however there was no dumpsite here, no water to hook up or anything! Not enough toilets/showers for everyone, one side looked like they had around 15 separate shower blocks except they were cornered off with barriers leaving four that were usable. Went for a shower @ 7am (prime time no?) and was ushered to another shower block which had only 3 female toilets as the separate showers were being cleaned. Really bad considering the amount of people staying. Staff seemed friendly and cant fault the price and location- shame about toilets/ showers and lack of facilities at the campsite (ie-water&dumpsite)

As you noticed, we're currently in the process of refurbishing and upgrading the area, which unfortunately means a reduced number of available showers and toilets. We try to be as upfront as possible and inform everyone of this over the phone when booking, but we understand it can be a bit frustrating, especially during busy shower times like the morning rush. In regard to the waste station, we don’t advertise the campsite as offering this facility, but we’ll certainly look into how we can better communicate that in the future. Negative experience: Very poor hostel. To start, I found a dead bed bug on my first night. When I mentioned it to reception they moved me and my partner to another room, but left everyone else in the room and I don’t think they even checked the room.

We did indeed investigate the room immediately and have found no trace of any bed bug activity however these bugs are easily confused with midges which look very similar. We ensure that our pest control is always current and our dorm mattresses are bed bug resistant. Bed bugs leave bites which are very easy to recognise and we have no reports of these from any guests. Positive experience: Rooms are exactly what you would expect, guest deal in hostel pub is good price for food

Negative experience: Only 4 unisex toilets/showers open for one whole side of the campsite which are constantly being used for people to hook up in. Leaving you waiting outside in the rain for 15 minutes to go to the toilet or shower. Not just a once off either, has happened me alone 3 times in 2 days. Sort it out

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a week in this hostel, being a great experience due to the treatment of the staff, specially Pepe, the guy who is working in the reception was really kind and helpful with me and my friends. I really recommend this place but the only inconvenience is that there are not enough toilets for all the camping and cars guests

Fantastic experience: My girlfriend and I have just left our stay at Nomads Airlie beach. We had a spacious private room with small kitchen area and en suite. We were pleasantly surprised at the size of our room! Bed was super comfy and we also had a tv. The facilities were really good and can’t fault the location. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would return!

Negative experience: We were really stuck late in Airlie Beach, even though I made the booking last minute as everything else was full there was literally no info on how to get in and was really frustrating, we ended up booking somewhere else

Fantastic experience: I recently stayed at Nomads at Airlie Beach and had a brilliant stay. Robbie on reception was a real one and upgraded our 8-bed to a gorgeous newly renovated 6-bed which was pure luxury - thanks king <3. Vibe was good, all staff were lovely and Boatys is fun for a night out especially the silent disco and bingo (cos we won).

Positive experience: Overall is not a bad hostel, BUT, staff is not very friendly or helpful. Then there’s the kitchen: very dirty, disorganized, has no oven at all, no sponge to do dishes and it closes at 10 pm sharp which means if you didn’t wash your things are going to be dirty outside until the next morning. No cold water, just natural from the the tap. Has a good location tho and the rooms are comfortable

Negative experience: I been here for 3 days and no one cleaned te toilet in the entire weekend, bins completely full. I stayed at the camper van site, the site is a bit small if your camper is big. The environment and the place is nice the only complaint is the cleaning in the toilets.

Fantastic experience: If you're looking for a place to stay in Airlie beach, Nomads is the place to be! The location is a one minute walk to the lagoon/beach (on saturdays, there is a market). Also located on the beginning of the street with all the bars. The restrooms are actually more than fine. During our stay, we had a lot of help from Esmee. She was awesome! Very friendly and helpful. Made us feel very welcome!

Fantastic experience: We landed early and the staff were so helpful and friendly with checking us in. They upgraded us to a newly renovated room and they put us in the same room with our friends that we met travelling. They were amazing. The hostel is fabulous. They have washing machines and dryers which were ideal. Checking out Tiegan was so helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend staying here! I stayed there again and it was lovely. Tiegan checked us in and was so accommodating. After I left I realised i forgot some items in my room. Robbie was so kind and helpful in tracking them down after housekeeping had put them away in a safe place and he passed them onto my friends for me to get in my next location. The staff will go above and beyond. Would highly Recommend staying here. Thanks guys for a great stay

Fantastic experience: We spent 14 days here in our roof tent. (35$/night without electricity). The location is ideal, we do everything on foot. The staff is great

Positive experience: Excellent spot for a three night stay on a powered site, plenty of space. No dump point. Despite being a young persons hostel there was no loud music in the campervan section of the site at night, your only noisy neighbours will be the birds. Conveniently located right in the middle of Airlie Beach. Had a minor altercation when we arrived as someone was parked in our spot but the staff resolved this quickly. Facilities block is small and of an okay standard but could do with an upgrade as drains were often blocked and no shelves on showers. A new set of combined toilet/shower cubicles have recently been built but don't function very well - as there is no drain on the floor they get both wet and muddy quickly and despite a squeegee being provided there's nowhere to push the water to?
Thanks for the bird's-eye view of your stay with us! We're chirping with joy that you enjoyed our prime location and peaceful nights (well, except for our feathered residents - they're not big on quiet hours). We're glad our staff swooped in to solve the parking hiccup. As for our facilities, we hear you - they're a bit like a fledgling learning to fly. We're working on some upgrades to make them soar. Those new cubicles? Let's just say they're still finding their wings. We're on a mission to make them less of a splash zone and more of a comfort nest. Fantastic experience: We loved this place! Right in airlie beach town so everything is accessible, and they have such a large place so you have heaps of space as well. Really friendly, super well run. We couldn't believe you can still get a camp site for $20 a night!!! 80's prices!!! Super hot showers, kitchen is clean. Well done nomads!

Fantastic experience: We stayed in our motorhome and it was an amazing experience!! The amenities and toilets were clean and in good conditions. The parking area was so good and we could plug our motorhome the only bad experience was at the coffee place Boatys that they messed up al our breakfast and they were very busy and understaffed. But the hostel was amazing

Positive experience: We were on powered site with our campervan. Silent place, nice position in the city center and wide time range for check in. Something to improve: cleanliness of bathrooms and quantity (there aren’t plenty of).

Negative experience: Location ok Service terrible - didn’t have a blanket and asked at the reception and they said sorry they don’t have any. I came here with a cold and now don’t have a blanket… Room terrible - feels like they didn’t care at all about their guests. The room looks like a military bunker, not clean at all, shower takes ages to be warm and it smells like mold. For that price you get so many better hostels…

Positive experience: Amazing and beautiful place. The rooms are okey, 5/10, it’s like a hospital but with good vibe. The price is a bit high, but is hard to find a place where to stay in high season.

Fantastic experience: Big property so lots of space, nothing felt stuffed or narrow here. Central location, not far from the esplanade. Can get slightly noisy at night due to partys, not too bad though, not too hard to deal with if you have earplugs/headphones. Depends on the location of your room (and your roommates of course). Just stay away from other people and you'll be fine lol. You'll find multiple kitchens which are very clean, utensils are in good condition. Rooms have their own bathrooms including showers (stayed in two different rooms, both had bathrooms) which are clean. The rooms are quite spacious so you've got plenty of room for your stuff. There is a laundry as well although I didn't use it. Very friendly staff, they always want to help you and communication is very straightforward via the Goki app (needed some time to get used to the app but now I'm into it, you can even text reception and ask questions). Fantastic experience: I'm Italian and the guys who work here have helped me a lot to integrate and meet people from all over the world. In particular Kevin, who enlivened my mornings with his workout activities and Matteo who gave me a hand with the cooking. The location is convenient, on the main street of Airlie, but despite this it is very quiet inside and the people are very sociable.

Fantastic experience: I recently stayed at Nomads Hostel in Airlie Beach and booked a private room that exceeded my expectations. The room featured a comfortable double bed, bunk beds, a spacious bathroom with both a bath and shower, and a well-equipped kitchen area. It was immaculately clean, which made my stay even more enjoyable. The added bonus of having a TV in the room was perfect for relaxing after a long day, and fresh towels were always available whenever needed. On site there are two places to wash and dry your clothes along with a communal kitchen, vending machine and sofas in the waiting room if you wanted peace and quiet from your shared rooms and a stronger WiFi connection. The staff at Nomads were exceptionally helpful and accommodating. I must give a special mention to Tegan, who went above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. Her friendly demeanor and willingness to assist with any request made a significant difference. Staying for two weeks, I found Nomads Hostel in Airlie Beach offers a fantastic combination of comfort, cleanliness, and outstanding service. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant and hassle-free stay in the area

Fantastic experience: Have been here for almost a week, the location is great. Restaurants and cute shops as well as the blue lagoon all around. There are two pools you can use and the rooms are very clean. The staff is welcoming and always ready to help. Especially Keisha was outstanding. With anything she was happy to help and very friendly.

Fantastic experience: My friend and I had such an amazing stay here, we can’t recommend it enough ! The staff here are so approachable and friendly, full of chats and happy to answer any and all questions we had about the area, and had great suggestions on the things we should look into doing during our time at Airlie. The rooms are quite spacious, even the 8 bed dorms ! You don’t feel everyone is on top of each other or crammed in with everyone compared to some other hostels we’ve been to, it feels like you have plenty of your own space !

Fantastic experience: Ended up staying in Nomads for a week and having travelled lots of Asia and aus, this is one of the nicest places with lovely staff that I’ve stayed. We got upgraded for both bookings to a private room which have just been redone and are more like a hotel than hostel. Tiegan was an absolute diamond when we realise our travel agent had accidentally cancelled one of our bookings and with no hesitation she moved things around to make sure we had somewhere to stay. Brand new kitchen is spotless, similar to the 2 pools you have access to. All staff were very attentive and hostel was very social. Had my 22nd birthday here and I’m so glad it fell on Airlie as it delivered! Shame I can’t review on hostel world (due to cancelled booking) but overall would recommend to all staying in Airlie!
