Negative experience: Kitchen was disgusting, loads of flys in there and nothing was in a hygienic condition. The room was hot and the fan was useless and dusty. Staff were helpful when we got there but that’s as good as it got really.

Fantastic experience: Very nice hostel with a great community and friendly staff. Shout outs to Michaela at the reception, she is grant and always there to help. The hostel is a little bit out of town but still in walking distance to Main Street and the beach. Would recommend staying here!

Fantastic experience: We had a lovely stay at the arts factory, beautiful, edyllic atmosphere with many community events. The staff was super friendly, especially Nicole, one of the employees was super helpful and helped us a lot with our surf camp booking.

Fantastic experience: Nicole was the best receptionist she saved us when our booking had a big mess up. The hostel is also amazing the workshops with holly were also a great highlight. And simone on reception was always the greeting us with her beautiful smile. Andrew also had some great skills putting up some new posters making this place look great. you can tell this place is really cared for.

Fantastic experience: Amazing guitar lesson with Franco! I’ve never even attempted to play the guitar but I heard that they’re are some lessons going around and it was amazing. I learnt a few basic strings and was just able to play a little symphony. Thanks Franco and I will for sure be coming back to you and the arts factory!

Negative experience: Barely manageable, would not recommend! Please read ALL reviews (google & hostel world) - quite dirty (bathrooms, rooms, common areas) - Kitchen was nasty (bugs, turkeys, dishes) - No security for belongings (storage didn’t lock) - Bathrooms are not close to most tents - Despite no smoking signs, everyone smoked weed & cigarettes - Noise until late hours (12-4) every night - no plugs close to beds Not sure how this place is a 9/10 on hostel world

Positive experience: This hostel was interesting.. we stayed in the tent room and it was such a cool experience. The bathrooms here were sadly disgusting but the staff were lovely. Probably won’t be back :(

Fantastic experience: I haven’t stayed in a hostel for years, yet my experience at the Arts Factory in Byron was exceptional. Especially the service from Nicole Levine at reception. She’s super professional and offers a 5 stars service with her care and kindness. I was upgraded on arrival to a lovely room to myself by the little pond, clean delicious white cotton sheets, comfy bed and access to a huge kitchen facility. I had a fabulous stay for a night and I do recommend the Arts Factory!

Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed my stay here, there is so much music around!, you can even book a free music lesson with Franco, a very good musician from Argentina , he will help you with whatever you need in terms of music ! It's worth the time there !

Fantastic experience: We came for the weekly Monday talent show ($5 entry) and were not disappointed! All performers were incredibly talented and great all round vibes. The hostess did well at filling the spaces between performances. Would go again!

Negative experience: paying $300 for week. the took my things out of my room for a deep cleaning because of BED BUGS in the room. they mixed all the stuff of the guests and i lost some belongings. bad experience in this place

Fantastic experience: There's a reason people recommend this hostel. It is the atmosphere, the people, the nature and of course Byron Bay all making you feel welcome. You are bound to meet some nice people here and get out of your shell.

Fantastic experience: Had a very warm welcome from Nicole at reception when she picked us up from the bus stop on the shuttle bus! The hostel is only a short walk from the bus stop and from town but with heavy bags the shuttle service is very useful! :). The hostel has a cool range of vibes from the jungle to teepees to dorms and the staff were really friendly (especially Connor, Nicole and Ryder). I would especially recommend staying on a Monday for the talent show (so many talented people stay at the arts!?). Also the cafe there serves great homemade food which is the cheapest you’ll find in Byron! Overall really loved staying there and would recommend :))

Fantastic experience: I loved everything about the Arts Factory. As a solo traveller I instantly felt comfortable here. Such a sociable place with just one long table where most people sit. Everyone chats to everyone with no groups which is so refreshing and different from anywhere else I have stayed. There is so much talent around, music, arts, dance and so much more which is just inspiring as an artist myself. I created more art here than on my whole travels as it is the perfect setting for that. Such a lovely chilled out, peaceful, artsy, sociable hostel. There’s a coffee shop in the hostel with food too which is perfect. I never wanted to leave and will be back again for sure!!!!! Xxx

Fantastic experience: I stayed two months in arts factory and what an adventure it was. Arts factory is an place on it's own. People stay and go, but this place never leaves. People are often lost what to do in life or who you want be and for me arts is a place to find yourself back. A place to chill, build up friendships and say a lot of goodbyes to so many amazing people. We are all in this together and that is what arts feels for me, with a lot of history from the past. Check out the jungle and let time pass and be careful that you maybe never want to leave. I want to say a big thanks to the reception people from arts and also the toilet cleaner for always giving the best energy back and always a time to talk or cuddle. Love you all❤️

The only negative I noticed during my time was some low key harassment from one of the staff members, felt singled out and made to feel a little bit ostracized. I try not to take it personally and can see that this man is insecure and needs to bully others. Appreciate you all.

Fantastic experience: Great experience. Connor on reception was very helpful! It's easy to book excursions that pick you up at the hostel if that's your thing. The hostel itself is an experience, the vibe is really chilled and it's easy to spend time there during the day making the most of the facilities (pool, yoga mats etc). I also enjoyed the bush food walk with Cockatoo Paul!! Kitchen is a bit dirty, but I think that was to be expected with people staying there long-term. Hostel staff try and maintain cleanliness by encouraging food labelling.

Fantastic experience: Hey guys:) I had a really good time in Arts. This is the best place to feel safe and express yourself in whichever way you feel. The crowd that arts attracts is unlike any other, so many beautiful people expressing themselves and being true to themselves. I truly felt at home here!

Negative experience: RUN! I went in 2017 and again in 2024, I don’t think anything had been cleaned in that period of time. The kitchen is hell on earth and is a health and sanitation hazard. Only plus is that the Staff were nice , otherwise get out while you still can

Fantastic experience: We stayed in the Arts Factory hostel for 10 days in the huts and had the best time ever !! It had a really unique vibe compared to anywhere else in byron. Found it really easy to meet fellow travelers through the communal area, and found everyone to be friendly and social. The staff were super helpful though out our stay. The accommodation was perfect for us, especially our stay in the huts, really comfortable and nice to have such a private and quiet spot to escape to, Felt like luxury !! They also have an amazing cafe downstairs, which had the best coffee and always a good range of cakes, our daily treat!! , so cheap and tasty. Would 100% recommend this hostel to anyone visiting, also shout out to the receptionist today who during our check out was so kind and friendly! overall the mix of people and ideal location made it perfect for us!

Positive experience: Beautiful place and installations, very enjoyable common areas. Unfortunately, wasn’t the cleanest in the rooms and bathrooms, lacking a bit of activities to connect backpackers and felt a bit weird at times.

Fantastic experience: I loved my star at the Arts Factory. The vibe was beautiful with lots of expression and music in the atmosphere. The cafe was cute and delicious. We needed some extra help with some administration and the staff we so accommodating and helpful. Thank you very much to everyone at the Arts Factory!

Negative experience: Inconsiderate and noisy customers ruined the experience. They’re still yelling at 2am. Just because they paid to stay doesn’t mean you let let them run wild.

Fantastic experience: We had an amazing time at the arts factory. After almost 2 weeks we decided to stay longer because we loved it there so much, everyone was so welcoming and social. Also great to connect with other travelers and it’s not too far from the Center. Everything is doable by walking. You have the best coffee shop IN THE HOSTEL & it’s really good ! We also love to spend time at the pool for down time.

Fantastic experience: This hostel has a vibe that I have not seen anywhere else. Social, musical yet peaceful. It’s set in the forrest just a short walk to town, an idea location away from the busy noise. The staff are all amazing the rooms are clean and comfortable, free yoga classes every morning, small events each night if the week, Mondays talent show was definitely a highlight.

Fantastic experience: Really cool, fun hostel. The staff is really helpful and nice. Love the atmosphere with the nature, and there’s lots of fun activities. I especially liked the talent show and making plant fibre bracelets with Paul from Aus Bush Survival School. Trivia night was so fun too:) I stayed in the big teepee which can get both really humid and cold, but also interesting experience. The dorms look nice though. The kitchen could have more pots, pans etc. but it had mostly what you need. It’s a party hostel with a hippie vibe, which I at first had to get used to, but there is a really good community here. I’m already planning to come back to this hostel. The hostel gives space to art and expression, which I find so cool. Nice little cafe in the reception as well - with good vegan options

Fantastic experience: Come here for the experience! One of the best hostels I’ve been to, fun wise. Amazing people everywhere, so easy to make friends :) great location, nice pool, so many rooms, great cafe. I met some friends and they let me borrow their bike to ride to the tea tree lake! So awesome, would recommend it to anyone who wants a great experience!

Fantastic experience: I’m staying at art factory right now, I’m super happy to admit is one of the best experiences I have in a long time apart from the point the relax chilled and easy going way to handle everything at the team reception. They fixed a stolen belonging sadly from someone to myself. It took me a few days to explain how the accident happened but they were completely open to solve it. And even if they weren’t available like fully booked managers were looking the way to get me on board. Excellent quality of service around values and support I’m glad still is people like that handling hospitality business. The cafe place they have in front reception same can do attitude, respect and appreciation for people around them. Super good I wanna add a mentioned for fefa and josie housekeepers they help me all with clothes stains because of a massive rain, super lovely people. I’m really glad of being here!!

Negative experience: ⚠️I used to love this hostel until I found out that my friend, who recommended it to me and brought me here, got banned for no reason. A staff member at the reception falsely accused him of sexual harassment towards a woman. Without any evidence, he was immediately banned. But the problem is that after an investigation, the woman in question even came to speak with the managers to explain that he was a friend, nothing wrong had happened, consent was respected, and he shouldn't have been expelled because he hadn't done anything wrong, and it was a violation of privacy. Yet, my friend is still banned, and the employee who destroyed his life and reputation continues to work there without consequences.‼️‼️

Positive experience: was a really great stay! such a cool experience very different to alot of hostels i've stayed in. all staff were really lovely and so helpful especially Nicole, Miranda, will and Liam they were always so helpful at the desk and were very lovely.

Fantastic experience: Came down from GC with the Mrs for a lil holiday. Stayed in one of the cabins. Great stuff all round. In particular just as we were about to leave the biggest storm rolled in and we were due to miss our bus and then flight - Nichole the hero at reception rolls out with the altruism and drove us to the station. Legend.

Fantastic experience: Arts Factory felt like a community as soon as you walked into the hostel. Nicole at front desk was the loveliest girl to chat to. Had a delicious coffee from the cafe every morning and sat watching the jungle around me from the kitchen balcony. The showers are the best I’ve had so far in any hostel. Great entertainment with the talent show and enjoyed several yoga classes by the lake. Great people running the place with a kind attitude.

Negative experience: I knew that it is more of a hippie hostel and vibe, nevertheless very dirty hostel, if you don’t have customers that keep clean and leave their stuff and hairs everywhere, you should consider to clean twice. Under my bed there was a ballon that was there for probably a while and an old water bottle. I think you should clean under beds as most people leave their staff not just in the lockers as there is no space anywhere. I was showering with spiders as well. I know that the hostel is located between nature but I didn’t book a camping site. I booked a hostel and don’t want to shower with any animals. Very hard to find a spot in the fridge.

Fantastic experience: Incredible place where beautiful like minded people come to create and make beautiful connections. The receptionists and managers are also amazing and thoughtful people who see this place as more than just a job.

Negative experience: Definitely new to Byron bay, so don’t take my word for it. But 75$+ per night for a hostel pretty much defeats the ideology of a hostel. The backpacker traveler friendly place is only available to those who can afford it here. Camping is 25$. But the waiting list is far out. This is probably a rating for Byron bay as a whole. But it is not a budget travel destination.

Fantastic experience: Amazing hostel, beautiful group of staff that are well out together. Hostel provides a big range of activities for in and outside the hostel. From staying in a dorm to a tent the arts factory really facilitates all needs. Also very easy to make a good group of friends that you can call family by the time you leave, you’re missing out if you don’t stay here .

Fantastic experience: Stayed here for 4 nights and was very happy with my decision. We ended up staying an extra night because it was so fun. The rooms are clean and have good bathroom facilities. The beds are spacious and comfy. It was very sociable and the staff there are lovely, and helped me out whenever I needed it. 24 hour reception came in handy. Overall great hostel and great environment, would recommend for a great Byron experience.

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and accommodating venue. It was simple but complete. The other people renting were also friendly and made good company. The kitchen area has what you need and provides several basins for washing up. The kitchen area had personality.

Fantastic experience: This place is a true hostel. If you want a hotel-like experience don’t stay here but if you’re looking for a cool, artsy, hippie and beachy atmosphere this is the place. There’s no ac anywhere but the teepees get cool at night and have fans. Staying in a teepee was a cool experience as well. You’re really immersed in nature here, surrounded by trees, some water, birds and lizards, etc. It’s a really cool vibe only 10-20min walk to town and the beach. Everyone here is very kind and welcoming and there’s a little cafe that has great food and is pretty much open all day.

Fantastic experience: Best place to stay in Byron, friendly staff. Look for the chef Sahar H he is amazing Cook and a kind heart Human. No complaints about, it’s pretty simple you get what you pay.

Fantastic experience: This hostel is the best I have ever been to. We have been for 9 nights at the PeeTee. The people who work there are very attentive and friendly! The best thing about this hostel and why I recommend it is because there are activities of all kinds every day (yoga, trivia, talks). I have never been to a place so liberal and artistic and I will definitely return here. If you are looking for a different experience, meeting people and being close to nature, without a doubt this hostel is perfect for you. Fantastic experience: Arrived to Byron and drove straight to the arts factory, met the wonderful receptionist Nicole who showed us kindness and helped book a room at peak season time, great service and beautiful resort. Most def coming back! Edit: Had asked for some advice after wanting to check out, Nicole once again helped us, we got another nights stay and great ideas for things to do in Byron.

Fantastic experience: This place was my home for three month and it was the best time of my life! You should stay here for the vibe, the openminded, creative and free spirited people and the AMAZING talentshow (every Monday talented people perform on stage and Cockatoo Paul sings his legendary songs). It’s very easy too meet new people through participating in one of the many workshops (Yoga, bush tucker walks, fire making, art, women’s circle, the list goes on) or just walking up to someone in mainland or the jungle hut. I made some great friends here! I stayed in a privat room, one of the teepees, a ten person dorm, the females only dorm and -my personal highlight- at the campground. All rooms were clean and mostly tidy. The kitchen isn’t very well equipped and after rush hour very messy but the staff does their best to clean it up. Be aware of the bushturkeys that will steal your food if you don’t put it away properly or leave your plate unattended for too long. The staff is so nice and helpful, they patiently answered all of the questions I had. There’s a nice on-side café with delicious treats and good coffee. The walk into town takes about 10 minutes, 20 to the beach. In town you’ll always recognise the people from the arts: keep your eyes open for barefooted hippies. Then again that’s true for most folks in Byron. Now go stay at the arts factory but be careful: you might transform into your truest self

The rooms were clean and there is a cafe on site . The vibe in the hostel is great and I really enjoyed their weekly talent show

Negative experience: A really disappointing stay. Our room and the shared spaces were dirty, and the mattress was so incredibly uncomfortable/springy that I couldn’t sleep at all. There was also no AC in our room, which I certainly was not expecting for the price tag. The final cherry on top was that someone came knocking on our door at 4am, as they wanted a lighter and refused to believe that we didn’t have one? They then proceeded to keep knocking on doors until they found one. Overall, left as soon as I could, and would definitely not recommend this place - wishing I had read the most recent reviews before staying, as sleeping in my car would have been a better experience.

Fantastic experience: Arts factory is an amazing place with so much character. A perfect place to relax, vibe and enjoy Byron at with friendly staff and lots to do. Slightly out of Byron Bay but it really wasn’t a problem!
