Oz Snow: Reviews
Negative experience: Our travel agent used this company to organise 3 nights in Hakuba for 4 people. Paid $3400 (return transfers from Tokyo to Hakuba using Nagano Snow Shuttle, 3 nights at Gondola Hotel, which really reminded me of a school camp, our room had two beds, smaller than a single and a bunk bed that was single bed size. The bunk was very unsteady so we had to pull the mattress off the top bunk and put it on the floor. Tv did not work because it was snowing. No where in the room to make tea or coffees. Mattress protectors were badly stained, stains on walls. I took photos and sent them to my travel agent. The group dinner did not happen as they did not have staff so we got vouchers for basic pizza, hamburger dinner. We hired equipment for two people to ski for two days. We priced out everything while we were there and we were between $600 to $1000 overcharged. I advise you to go on line and book direct with accommodation, transfer company and ski hire places (of which there are plenty). Wifi only in bar. Lounge in bar had damaged furniture. As a non skier I felt trapped staying here. Very disappointing end to our stay in Japan.
Negative experience: My family of 4 (2a, 2k) originally booked at Thredbo, and the whole booking experience originally was fantastic! When the Thredbo season shut early, we were waiting to see what Oz Snow would offer, but never heard from them. We reached out and were told our only option was to go to a closed Thredbo, or be moved to Perisher. Organising this change was met with rude and not helpful responses - the complete opposite to the start of the experience. When we finally arrived at Perisher, we knew their season was also close to the end but we were excited to still have a great snow holiday. We checked in and were shown our room, which was basically in the basement, and the bathroom was separate down the hall. It was large but not very comfortable. Once we were settled, around 6pm, we went upstairs to the restaurant to see what was on offer for dinner - only to be told the restaurant was closed as the season was nearly closed. This left us with no food options for the night. At this time we were also informed that as the restaurant is closed, our inclusive breakfast would be served in another room upstairs. We went to bed to try and sleep (very hungrily) only to have a party thrown in the restaurant directly above us. The staff seemed to be having their end of season break up, while guests were still on site. The loud singing, yelling, music playing went on until 2am... After a very bad night we woke up to have breakfast and spend the day at the snow. The room where breakfast was to be served turned out to be a whole apartment, and breakfast we cooked ourselves. I had hoped to go to reception on our way out that morning to discuss a transfer to the upstairs apartment, as it made more sense to stay in the same room we are eating in; and having access to a kitchen to cook dinner would be easier than going hungry every night - but reception was in darkness, no staff to be found. I called Oz Snow directly to let them know our frustrations and how disappointing the whole circumstance was. They listened but didn't offer any options other than only the accommodation manager can help. When we arrived back to the accommodation that afternoon, the manager advised us that we should have been informed at check in that the restaurant was closed, cooking was available upstairs, and that we were placed in the basement because the boilers had been turned off to the rest of the building, meaning there was no hot water. He offered us to move upstairs, but would still need to go down stairs to shower - which was fine with us, at least we would be comfortable, fed and get some sleep away from the partying. We had one good day of this arrangement going smoothly, until on our 3rd day the hot water down stairs didn't work either. The manager was really nice about it, called Oz Snow and told them the boilers had to be turned back on - which they did. Unfortunately on this day, Perisher also announced that they were closing their season early - 1 day before we are due to leave. Oz Snow were oh so very kind to offer us early check out with a voucher for the unused night to use in the next 18 months... really?! After all of this, they think we would come back?! A refund really should have been offered at this point. Moral of the story, once Oz Snow get your money they stop caring - customer service goes out the window and they do not care if you have an enjoyable holiday at all. Highly DO NOT recommend booking with this company.
Fantastic experience: I recently went on the Oz Snow trip to Perisher and it was such a fun, amazing experience. Although there was little snow, the whole trip overall was so worth it, the company was great, the bus driver, Rob was a great driver and a great lad to chat to, too. At the resort all the employees were very friendly, helpful and a great conversation. Ash and Jarrod were our bus’ guides and they were exceptional and made the whole process smooth and easy! They were easy to communicate to and were very helpful, they were very straight forward with the times and directions and whatnot and made the time schedule easy to follow. I must say Ash was fun and very much the life of the party on Saturday night! She made everyone want to jump in on the festivities and made us feel welcome and made it feel inviting. 10/10 would recommend, can’t wait for next season!! ◡̈ ❄️
Positive experience: NZ package tldr: get much better quality and experience at the same price by renting own gear (eg. Green Toad), staying in a hostel closer to the slopes (eg. in Wanaka), and organising ski passes and lessons directly with the ski resort (eg. Cardrona/Treble Cone). This company seems to capitalise on first timers on a budget to deliver a bare minimum experience. Once we arrived, we realised how easy it would have been to pay similar prices for a much better all round experience. Accommodation: The included accommodation in Queenstown is Reaver’s Lodge, which has a 2.9 star rating on Maps. To be fair, it’s mostly just a bit rundown, but it manages to keep you warm well enough. However, there are so many alternative affordable hostels in Queenstown that are much newer, cleaner, and more social. These can be discovered with a quick Google. Further, if you’re hitting Cardrona and Treble Cone (which is included in the package), staying in Queenstown means copping a 1.5 hour commute that costs 42NZD each way every day. If you don’t mind staying in a slightly quieter town, Wanaka is much closer and cheaper to get to the slopes. Gear: The gear rental place at Reaver’s is included, and has a decent range of slightly battered equipment. Arriving during a busy period, my first board was heavily chipped and scratched. They swapped it out later, but it became very clear that Queenstown is filled with rental places for much newer and higher quality equipment with similar prices. A common one was Green Toad, but there are many others. Lift pass + lesson: When we asked Oz Snow when our scheduled lesson would be, they told us to head to the ski resort on the day of the lesson and sort it out with them. However, when we arrived at the ski resort, we were told that all lessons start at the same time, and we had just missed it. Lessons were also non transferable, so we would not be able to do a lesson at all. When we told Oz Snow of this situation, they simply told us that they couldn’t do anything and to work it out with the resort again. After spending a whole morning chasing different people at Cardrona, the resort were kind enough to eventually let us take a lesson the next day, while warning us that travel agents could often be misinformed. This total miscommunication and misinformation would have been easily avoided by booking directly with the ski resort in the first place. Despite all this, we still ended up having a good time at the slopes. However, next time we’ll definitely be skipping Oz Snow for a smoother and more comfortable holiday. Hope this helps someone planning their next snow trip

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing experience! Awesome people, especially Polly and Zoey best tour guides. Very energetic vibe on the deck bar with live music, good price and the accommodation is right on the foot of the snow mountain! Strong recommend it specially for group of friends.
Fantastic experience: Polly and Zoey. They are the best people in the world , so helpful and friendly , they couldn’t make my trip better , thank you very much , looking forward to get back
Positive experience: I definitely recommend Oz Snow if you are looking for a first snow experience. They will get everything sorted for you and the vibe of the staff members are the best ever! I have done the weekend trip twice staying at Snowy Gums literally in front of the lift chair. I was luck for having Nate as our tourist guide helping us to get on track and providing the necessary information. They offer a budget trip so do not expect a 5 stars accommodation, food or bus. The timetable can be controversial as it is made for those who wants to enjoy the mountains as much as possible and are willing to wake up earlier and don’t mind to be in the end of the weekend physically tired but mentally renewed. The happy hour on sat arvo is great to meet people and relax by the mountain! Late check out would be great to have a shower before leaving the hotel.
Fantastic experience: Polly is the best tour guide love her she the best vibe the best staff ever Polly!!!!!
Fantastic experience: I had such a good time with Nate, he was the best tour guide

Fantastic experience: We stayed with oz snow over a weekend and ash was amazing tour guide and provided us with a great experience, would recommend!!
Negative experience: Worst holiday of my life. Monday, Thursday and Friday you won’t me able to sleep from 11 to 2am because there will be busses arriving and people getting in and out of your and the surrounding rooms. The toilets are right next to every room so you can clearly hear the piss, poop, farts everything people do in there. Hostel is far from everything. If you need to come back from the mountains earlier it will cost you $221 dollars if you find the only Uber in town. Food is horrible. Not healthy. Nos vegetarian/ vegan friendly. Everyday is 1 piece of toast, “eggs”, bacon and ?beans?. Be ready to do a LOT of exercise throughout your day and come back to eat junk food at the bar every day because you have no option. They do free dinner twice and it’s the worst food I ever had. Buss leaves to the mountain 8 and returns 5. If you need to stay at the hostel because you’re sick/injured there will be no one, everything will be shut and you’ll be alone. You better off just paying a little extra and stay in a better place or even a caravan park will be better.
Negative experience: I only can speak about my own experience where I stayed at snowy valley jindabyne. I won’t recommend to stay there. Food is terrible, no shops around, only 1 time for shuttle bus so can’t acutely rest as you’re forced to follow strict timetable I understand leaving from Sydney at 530pm it’s easier for people get out from work and got to their holidays but you will only get to the hotel around mid night/ 1 am and you’re forced to wake up by 630 am as the brekky is from 6:30-730am and shuttle bus leaves at 8am. You start your trip with 6h of sleeping after traveling 5/6h. Only one shuttle bus daily so you can’t rest and also if you’re doing the 6 nights, half way throughout your trip, another group would arrive at 1am into your room. Even though brekky is included, the food is terrible, there is no fresh fruits at all and if you’re vegetarian do not even try as they don’t have options. I was also very disappointed with the company as I was sick (with doctors certificate) and try to upgrade from 6 nights shared room to twin room - which was available - but the manager said I should’ve booked in as a new booking and couldn’t pay the difference. Also, if you choose to miss a day (sick, injured or tired) at the park to stay at the hotel it’s the worse idea ever because the they close everything such as reception, bar, restaurant so you do not have any assistance in case you stay at it. No public transport, no information for private transporte, and no food!! The only good point I’d recommend it’s ozsnow it’s one-stop-shop as they organize clothing, gear, lift pass etc
Negative experience: Never again. We will not be booking anything with Oz Snow ever again. Note: This is a condensed version of the review. See images for the full, original review, as Google doesn’t provide enough characters. We are only taking the time to leave this review to help anyone who is considering purchasing a Sydney/Canberra to Thredbo trip. Our advice is: Don’t do it! The itinerary OzSnow sent us was from 2023, which was unprofessional and led to confusion and frustration. The actual itinerary was completely different from the previous year. We experienced confusion about the bus departure location at Central Station. Despite being told to wait at "Bay 3," which was permanently closed, we had to scramble to find the correct bay, causing stress and frustration. We called OzSnow to get confirmation, and they insisted it’s “always been Bay 3”. Turned out to be “Bay 1” and the bus didn’t arrive until just before departure time, causing more confusion. Tour operators smoked cigarettes while handling our luggage, creating an unprofessional atmosphere. The food at the River Inn was cold, limited, and often unavailable. Portion sizes were small, and we felt like we were experiencing a dystopian famine or were in a Hunger Games episide. We experienced discrimination due to using "vouchers" provided by Oz Snow -- we were denied fresh chicken wings and told they were for “other people”. The itinerary stated that daily hot breakfast and a “Wednesday night dinner” were included, but the staff insisted that the included dinner was always on “Tuesdays”. The issue was resolved by "Vicky," who told us we can go upstairs and order anything from the menu by saying “Vicky said”, as she winked. It worked! We actually got a very good, piping hot pizza and parmigiana which were a decent portion size and quite delicious. If we knew this is what you get without the vouchers, we’d have thrown them in the bin. It’s not like we weren’t willing to pay a few extra dollars, as we’d already spend many thousands on the vacation. The bus ride was a nightmare, with a broken, unsanitary toilet that didn’t flush, as the water was broken. There was no light. The door didn't lock. It started raining and the roof leaked on several customers through the vents, including us. The bus smelled of urine as people dredged back and forth from the urine puddle in the toilet. Stopping at Jindabyne was another unorganised and frustrating nightmare. However, as we approached the door of the ski hire shop to be fitted, we were yelled at: “All bags are to be left out the front!” My wife was holding a Michael Kors designer handbag with valuables inside and was not about to let go of it. We were belligerently shouted at a second time: “ALL BAGS are to be left out the front!”. The situation got a lot more frustrating, but we don’t have the space in this review to explain it all. Suffice to say this was completely unacceptable. No one should be barked at so belligerently or asked to leave valuable items unattended out on a footpath. Other customers shared similar negative experiences with us and expressed they would never book with Oz Snow again. One of the other customers' kids were given 2 left boots. On the return trip, the bus driver merged abruptly, nearly pushing a car off the road. We jokingly referred to the trip as "The Ghost Tour" due to the lack of interaction and support from the tour operators once we arrived at the destination. They became “ghosts” and we didn’t see them again for 3 days. Another customer attempted to steal our suitcase, leading to a confrontation. This trip was an absolute nightmare. We are sorely disappointed. We’re going to do a take 2 of this trip in a couple of years, but we will hire a car and drive ourselves. To anyone reading this review, we highly recommend you forget Oz Snow and do the same. We are really sorry to my darling wife. I will make this up to you. Never again Oz Snow.

Negative experience: ***Do not book with this company!*** If there was an option for 0 stars I would give it! Myself and my two friends where travelling New Zealand and was due to ski 20th July in Queenstown, unfortunately on the 16th July we where driving to Milford sounds, lost control on black ice, rolled and went into a tree (this has been the worst winter NZ has had in 25 years). I was in the passenger seat of the veichle and the impact of this broke my tibia and fibula. I was cut out of the veichle and airlifted to Southland hospital 2 hours from Queenstown where I underwent IM nail surgery on my leg. Obviously from sustaining this injury I wasn’t even able to stand on my own never mind ski, infact I’m very lucky to be alive and come away from this accident with only a broken leg. When we got onto Oz snow making them aware of this and letting them know I’m unable to take part in the activity with my injury’s they informed us that we are not entitled to a refund as they need to know 3 weeks in advance of cancelation and it does not matter if it’s medical related. I’m aware company’s need to have a policy in place for cancelations as it is a business at the end of the day but for something like this there should be an exception especially when X-rays and hospital letters was all provided of this incident and still they did not care. Unfortunately my crystal ball was not working that day and I was unable to tell 3 weeks in advance that we where going to be in a serious car accident 4 days prior to I was due to ski. As you can imagine the injury’s I sustained I have quite the medical bill so that $1044 back I would have greatly benefited from to help me with these bills. Oz snow don’t care about anyone only money! The customer service was absolutely appalling and I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone!! Avoid avoid avoid
Fantastic experience: I had such a blast with this company! It was my first time snowboarding and they helped as much as they could. Great gear as well. The team so fun and informative! Specially Ash. Such a lovely girl and worker. Would 100% do it again. Thanks for a great time team!
Fantastic experience: Used on oz snow this weekend for a get away to snow. Good value and great people. Jarrod ran our tour and went out of his way to keep the vibes up and ensure everyone had an awesome time. Our bus drivers Randall and Rich ensured we got to the snow even when other bus drivers were turning around due to heavy snow. Ash our other guide also kept us entertained with great stories and jokes. Well run tour, would recommend it
Fantastic experience: "OZSnow provided an unforgettable snowboarding experience that exceeded my expectations. I have done two seasons with them, and we had a great time on both occasions. From the moment I booked my trip, their team was incredibly helpful and accommodating, making sure I had all the information I needed. The trip itself was seamless and well-organized, with knowledgeable guides who were passionate about snowboarding and skiing. Charlie and Doosy were great and ensured we had a blast on the slopes while prioritizing our safety at all times. I highly recommend OZSnow to anyone looking for an amazing snow adventure!"
Negative experience: People were nice, however, when we left, I was almost forgotten about as the toilets were out of order and Ash did not do a head count. Ash, the trip guide for the trip back to Canberra/ Sydney advised us that we were not stopping in the drop off point and rather those getting off at Canberra can leave now at the dinner location as driving an extra 10 minutes would have put them out. Which then I had to rearrange transport because they did not want to drive further and ‘get back to Sydney quicker’. Appalling to say the least. Food was cold, buses smelt awful- like urine, no option to buy smaller lift passes or none at all if you did not want one. I only wanted a 3.5 day pass - which was an option on the website but was forced to buy the full 5.5 day pass which, I did not use. Based off the other reviews, I would not be shocked if it is a KPI/ sales target. Alongside this. if there was complaints they would offer a free drink in return for a google review ? So unprofessional and clearly outlines their intentions. All of the staff smoke infront of you in their uniforms when working and do not care that adults are drinking more than the responsible amount and making others uncomfortable. Would not recommend unless you like smoke to be blown in your face, alongside the smell of urine on the bus for 3 hours.
Negative experience: Besides being dishonest, their organizational skills are abysmal. Our trip started with lies. On the bus, none of us had been to Perisher before. Taking advantage of this, Ashley, the trip coordinator, told everyone that if we didn’t buy the lift pass, our trip would be wasted. She even claimed we’d have to stay on the bus because entry to the mountain wouldn’t be allowed without the pass. So, we spent $360 on the pass. What she failed to mention was that beginners can’t go down the mountain, and we were all beginners. As a result, none of us used the pass. To make matters worse, the rental clothes were in terrible condition, some of them were torn to the point of being unusable. Some people couldn’t even get clothes in the right sizes because they didn’t have enough for everyone, even though the reservation was made over two months in advance. The snowboard I received was defective; I compared it with those of people my height, and the distance between the bindings on my board was much smaller than theirs. Faced with all the complaints, they started to worry and offered free drinks to those who left positive reviews on Google. The food at their hotel was awful, and to top it off, the bus we took had several seats without seat belts. The police had to stop the bus and prevent it from returning to Sydney, forcing them to provide us with a quality bus with all seat belts working. In summary, every aspect of the trip that depended on Oz Snow had problems. Additionally, they were dishonest and pressured us to buy the lift pass from them instead of the official mountain website.
Negative experience: IT’S A TRAP! The worst agency ever! About my experience: - They did not provide half of the information so we could be prepared and enjoy the most of the snow mountain; - On our way to the hostel, Ashley was almost forcing us to buy the lift pass, telling us many lies, such as: there is a restaurant on top of the mountain, and no snow on the bottom, if you don’t buy it you won’t be able to do anything… which was not true! The pass is a total waste of money if you are just beginning to learn how to ski or snow board. She was just lying in order to sell and most of us in the bus regretted buying it. Lies, false informations; - The food was worse than terrible; - The bus was uncomfortable and unsafe, many seats didn’t have seatbelt. The driver was arrested for driving an irregular bus, so we had to change buses in the middle of the excursion. (Ash also offered a free drink for people to give them a good review)

Fantastic experience: What an amazing trip it was with Jarrod and Charlie as our tour guides. Oz snow is definitely top on their league. No complaints as everything went super smooth. Love it
Fantastic experience: I just had the best time with Ozsnow Ash is one of the tour guide and she made everyone get to know each other and dance together when everyone’s shy and sitting on the table We loved it!! We made a big group and have the best time!!
Negative experience: The experience was absolutely vile. Experienced by all members of our 8 guest group: 1. Bloody footprints.Bloody footprints on the first day. There was a trail of bloody footprints all throughout the hotel, very shocking to wake up to on day 1. The outline of the foot was so prominent you could indicate toes, heel and arch in each step. We were then stopped by the manager, Vicki, who asked us questions if we were the culprits. No apologies/acknowledgement of the issue when we confirmed it was not us. 3. False advertising of transport to Iiyama station: Transport to iiyama Bullet train station on our departure was absolutely false advertised. There was in fact, not a transport to the station (which I experienced in my previous stay) but a transport to a public bus stop, a short distance up the road. This is ludicrous as I confirmed with the staff, manager and bus driver that it was transport TO Iiyama station (as specifically outlined in the coupon), only to find out (9am, day of departure) it was transport to a PUBLIC BUS STOP. We were simply, obviously lied to by Vicki who said they never did the transport. I stayed a couple years prior (seemingly with different management) and I received direct transport. It was obvious Vicki waited until just before departure so we didn't have the opportunity to push further. It was pounding snow that day. 4. False advertising of rooms: Both groups were in rooms with single beds and bunk beds when it was advertised as rooms with double beds. 5. Incorrect transport instructions: Staff informed us of Nozawa onsen transport bus time table which was absolutely incorrect. They did not seem to realise they were referencing a sheet from 2021... 6. Nightly disruptions: The accommodation had a very large group of university students. They drank well into the night, keeping us up to 1am/2am in the morning, every single night. They were sprinting in the halls and yelling profanities all night. We could not believe that we had to deal with it and there was obviously no intervention from staff or manager. We are young and can tolerate loud noise from time to time, but not every night. 7. Poor communication of facilities: One washing machine and dryer for the whole accommodation (which barely even worked). This needs to be communicated when listing the facilities as we expected to be able to do washing properly, which we could not. Experienced by guests in 210: 8. Poor room cleaning: Upon entering, it was immediately evident the room had not been properly cleaned. There was rubbish underneath the bed, a first aid kit and a plethora of additional personal items left by the previous guests. 9. Extremely unsanitary state of bathroom (1/2): The shower had Pink algae growing around the rim of the drain, indicating it has not been properly cleaned for an extended period of time. Disgusting and hazardous. One of the guests in this room was extremely ill for a portion of the stay - I would hope this is cleaned ASAP. 10. Noise pollution: The bar music going late, late into the morning, no curfew at all regardless of which day of the week it was. 220 (previously 211): (When in 211) 11.Broken window: The room had a broken window that did not shut properly. Extemely uncomfortable to sleep in when it's snowing outside. 12. Extremely unsanitary state of bathroom (2/2): The room's toilet leaking from the base. The manager initially refused to acknowledge the problem until we pointed out the poor sikaflex job, indicating the problem had happened before and was not properly fixed. Absolutely vile to use the shower and one guest became extremely sick. After multiple requests, the staff then moved us to room 220. (When 220) 13. Smoking inside: The front of our room reeked of cigarettes. I understand smoking is very common in Japan, but we were assured there was no smoking inside. 14.Mouldy shower curtains: Disgusting, what does it take to have a clean bathroom? None of this is a reflection of Madarao. The town and ski resort are amazing. Please, if considering staying with OZ snow; go someplace else.
Fantastic experience: Just went on my first ski trip ever and luckily went with Ozsnow! Everything was organised perfectly for me to get out there and learn to ski. Was taken care of from the moment a landed in Japan. Accomodation in amazing locations with everything you need, amazing staff everywhere and the whole package was great value. Would 100% recommend! Can’t wait to travel with them again
Fantastic experience: Gondola hotel in Hakuba, is extremely well located and has an onsite bar/restaurant plus private onsen on premises! We came in March and according to the guides, it was some of the best weather they had all season (40+cm over 2 days). Hakuba & the Gondola hotel still have so much to offer so late in the season! Highly recommend!!
