SeaLink North Queensland has been an award winning transport service since 1997, providing the quickest link between Townsville and Magnetic Island and is proudly Australian owned and operated. Operating with 4 vessels and over 70 staff SeaLink is one of the most significant transport and tour operators in the region.
Conducting up to 17 daily return services to Magnetic Island, SeaLink can have you in paradise in only 20 minutes on one of our state-of-the-art, high-speed catamarans. In addition to the Magnetic Island service, SeaLink Queensland also operates a service to Palm Island 6 times per week for the Indigenous community.

Positive experience: Easy booking and checking timetable after uploading the sea link app. Unfortunately I left my Yetti bottle on the boat/terminal and it wasn’t handed in. Hope staff are honest as I wasn’t sitting in a traffic path for many to see it left behind.

Fantastic experience: The weather was pretty bad on the way out but our operator warned us before we left and he skill fully navigated the ferry to deliver us safely to Magnetic Island. The ferry was on time and prices are very affordable.

Negative experience: Staff expressed strong discrimination culture against Asian people including Asian kids. We wrote complaint letter to their management level a year ago, and haven’t got any feedback so far. Now the government anti-discrimination department has intervened and this case is in the process of investigating.

Fantastic experience: We loved our visit to Magnetic Island and the combined Sealink ferry and car hire package deal was excellent value for money. We didn't have much time so the package let us see as much of the Island as we could in the 5 hours we had to do it all in.

Fantastic experience: This is one of your only choices for getting over to Magnetic Island, but fortunately, it's a pretty easy and quick process. The ride isn't too long, and the ferry is smooth and fast. You do have to pay for parking here.

Fantastic experience: We arrived just in time for the ferry unaware of a Senior’s discount. The staff were very patient as we took an extremely long time to locate our senior’s cards. It also meant arranging a refund and reissuing tickets on a very busy day while managing the needs of other ticket buyers. I was very impressed by their willingness to provide this support when they could easily have avoided it. Fantastic customer relations by the team behind the ticket counter!

Negative experience: Trip was ok. $40 return fare but they can charge what they want if you want to go to Magnetic Island. Reply. Never said your fare was expensive (your words), only quoting the cost. Thank you for clarifying your position.

Fantastic experience: Booked the 6.30am ferry from Townsville to Magnetic Island. Ferry left at exactly 6.30am. Spotless on deck and inside. Toilets were very clean too. Staff were very helpful and gave us a lot of information. Will definitely be using SeaLink again. Very happy. Lisa Ireland

Fantastic experience: Still solo traveller in Townsville. Ticketing staff is so friendly, I forgot his name but he helped giving information and suggestions to do in magnetic island.

Negative experience: Arrived at the Magnetic Island Nelly Bay terminal by bus (which are linked with departure times) found the doors locked, ran around the building to get onboard, lady shut the gates and walked towards the boat totally ignoring us. All after being on an earlier bus when the sealing was ~10 minutes late and the bus waited. Poor service from Sealink.

Positive experience: The snorkeling was fine and enjoyable, although there was very little instruction for those that had not done any previously - and there where a few. I was very disappointed that on the way home there was a video about the MOUA and it's stakeholders and the art installations. I saw a few of them but not all, as we were not that well briefed beforehand. Had I seen the video on the way out I would have had a better understanding of the project and what to look for

Fantastic experience: A great day out on the White haven and Hill Inlet Tour from Airlie Beach. A beautiful part of the world. Crew were lovely and very knowledgeable. Boat was clean and luxurious. Food was outstanding. They even accommodated to dietary restrictions. We had an awesome time. Highly recommend.

Positive experience: A short ferry ride to and from Magnetic Island. Pleasant staff. No coffee for sale during the trip is a minus, and the loss of a star. Otherwise, it's an excellent journey.

Fantastic experience: Replaced the buses luckily from the taxi rank at the airport and picked up here in an instant after a three car lineup Pop in regularly for a old school caramel milkshake or a toasted baguette with ham cheese and salad or croissant with egg n cheese. Still $8 for a pensioner haha

Negative experience: To this young lady your hospitality was absolutely DISGUSTING how you spoke to a rugby league club on the 15.06.24 from 7am in the morning going to palm island today to arrive back to Townsville late this afternoon your attitude was disgusting on you not only spoke to the adults but how you treated my kids, football clubs kids and how you spoke to my husband and his mate when it came to a refund was just plain grubby You where nothing but disgusting towards centrals tigers parents, committee and children to tell passengers to control there kids because as you said your done chasing after their little bums mate you chose to get in the kids ways, you knew you where dealing with a football club today and you did nothing but disrespect every kid before we even left Townsville this morning with your attitude For the young gentleman that was also there you almost shut a door on a 7yr old with out even watching what you where doing and didn’t even apologise to hear you laugh about it to the same person that treated the kids nasty you both should be ashamed of yourselves on how use treated kids and to announce your rubbish over the speaker aswel Apart from the trip being amazing at palm island the hospitality was just rude and disgusting recommend not to travel while these pair are working especially when travelling with kids

We take any complaint very seriously and in line with our standard procedure for handling complaints, we conducted a thorough investigation involving the crew members onboard the RLTD charter and also reviewing camera footage. We confirm that our crew members followed company policy around safety on board our vessels. Our crew member’s repeated attempts to caution the kids who were without supervision were ignored and their behaviour was completely unsafe. We have sent an email to your club's secretary and also to Rugby League Townsville District (RLTD) and Queensland Rugby League Football League (QRL) regarding safety standards expected by chartered football teams as per our Terms and Conditions of Travel upon our vessels. Fantastic experience: Fantastic SeaLink experience, so easy to purchase tickets online, which saves you a few bucks, or you can purchase in the terminal, no need to book. $9 for secure parking, gives you 24hours that you pay onsite driving in, again, no need to book. Plenty of ferry times to and from the island. Lovely cafe within sealink terminal and over on the islands terminal. Easy cruise with an abundance of comfortable seats, either upstairs or down as well as outdoor seating too.

Negative experience: Fast but a little expensive. Parking is an issue at the parking lot of SeaLink. The sign said “full” but we saw done empty spots but the attendant was to lazy to move her but. With a camper van looking for add. parking was a challenge and we missed our sailing time and had to wait for over 1 hour.

She asked passengers sitting near the unattended luggage if it belonged to any one of them and no one knew who the unattended luggage belonged to. Under our Safety protocol, any unattended or suspicious items are removed from the area for the safety of all passengers and staff. Fantastic experience: Can’t control the weather, but can definitely control the staff… who were faultless!!! They were helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The equipment was in fantastic condition, the food was lovely, and the group numbers were capped which meant very little waiting. Only wish the sun had been out so the coral could have showed off its beauty for my first reef trip ☺️

Fantastic experience: Enjoyed the experience and aircon. My sister lost her eternity ring in the parking lot. She contacted Sealink and spoke with James to ask if a ring was handed in. Positive experience: I think you guys need to update the timetable, I took the ferry for months now and I never saw a route (TSV - Magnetic Island) of 20 minutes. It takes always at least 25/27 minutes.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely wonderful place and absolutely wonderful people! I ride the ferry every day, and it's like a holiday to be here. The terminal is so happy, clean, bright, and efficient - and the staff are amazingly kind and helpful. I highly recommend coming here to take ferry trips to the Island. Negative experience: If I could give a negative star review it would be -10. Vessel "master"/ douche aggressively said "you!, I want a word with you" then proceeded to chastise me. For taking my puppies muzzle off when he was being sick!! I did try to explain but instead of hearing it he just spoke over me disrespectfully. Staff have always been good but that little man should be kept right away from the public. Maybe he is the one needing a muzzle as my dog is better behaved. Tried call the number provided multiple times but rang out everytime.

Fantastic experience: Great Day on the Reef. Our trip out to John Brewer Reef and MOUA and the Sentinels was fantastic! The crew were friendly, helpful and professional. The snorkelling equipment ( stinger suit, mask, snorkel and fins) were new and good quality. The briefings before the snorkelling were helpful and there were numerous Sealink Staff and Townsville Life savers assisting everyone to have a great experience. First time snorkellers and non-swimmers were well looked after. Very careful safety checks were done to ensure everyone entering the water was accounted for. Morning tea, lunch and a snack box were all delicious and hit the spot. The coral and fish were fantastic and the water was wonderfully clear. The weather was a little windy so the journey was a bit bouncy, but the catamaran is very comfortable, with indoor and outdoor seating. We'll definitely be booking another Sealink trip, particularly the cruise to Orpheus Island.

Negative experience: 11.40am, 11.11.23. This is a brickbat to Sealink management. A handful of drinking and badly drunk patrons waiting for the Palm Island ferry. Why don’t you police this? It wasn’t pleasant at all for us people who had just arrived from Magnetic Island.

Negative experience: It saddens me to say the customer service on our trip was incredibly poor. I was traveling with my husband and two young children whilst pregnant so we had quite a bit of luggage including suitcases, a double pram and a trolley cart filled to the brim with supplies for our families week long stay on Magnetic Island. The service staff had seen us upon check in and were well aware of the luggage we had for our travel as we were waiting in the terminal for an hour before our ferry. It wasn’t until we approached the ferry that we were unpleasantly told we were not able to push a double pram or a trolley cart onto the ferry. We had to empty all our luggage ourselves and manage it along with our young children without assistance. There were no apologies or any reasoning provided as to why were weren’t told this earlier. I would advise families to ensure they are aware of this before travel and pack/arrange assistance as required. The staff won’t provide you or your family any help or service.
