As a flippant remark at the end of the booking process I asked Sophie if she knew the airport that I would be stopping off for a connection flight and for any tips of things to do and places to eat. Sophie kindly sent a follow through email with a list of great recommendations! Though online bookings are convenient - you miss out on the personal touches and extra help that face-to-face interactions with Flight Centre consultants offer.

Fantastic experience: Booked my flight with flight centre Leichhardt with Richard. He has mapped out our itinerary making sure we are close to public transport in tokyo and in a nice hotel with alot of restaurants and a pool in kytoto (which I'm sure will be great for my son) as this is my first time flying with kids we wanted our trip booked by professionals. I had some outstanding questions about my booking and decided to walk into flight centre today and I was greeted by Amber the team leader. She had a upcoming booking but still sat with me and looked at all my paper work and answered things I was worried/anxious about. She didn't make me feel stupid for the most basic of questions and she had alot of patience for me and what i was asking about. She went as far as helping me understand what I can and can't pack with the airline, clarifying small amenities in the hotel that I was worried I would and wouldn't have. She explained the difference between the rooms and the trains for when we land in toyko. These might seem like smaller details but to a young mum travelling with a baby, what seems stupid is really important and there is alot of mixed information online so going straight to someone experienced makes the world of a difference! Can't thank her enough for helping me navigate the information while Richard was away on leave. Everyone at the leichardt branch was friendly and welcoming but Amber really went above and beyond today to give me that extra bit of information. Looking forward to booking our next trip there for the new year.

Negative experience: I went to this office to get some assistance buying my flights. I asked to look at a couple of options so I could get the best deal, however the lady who was trying to help me, at some point said that if I was only going to buy flights, I better buy them online. Apparently this suggestion is, so the flight center's workers can be free for other clients buying bigger packages . Lol! sort of funny but a bit annoying too . Anyway, just wrote this so you know that if you are only buying flights but not bigger touring packages, don't even bother to go there

Fantastic experience: Tanya Ballard - WOW WOW WOW. Tanya is probably the best travel agent I have ever come across. Tanya was BEYOND helpful. I cannot even overstate this. I impulsively decided to book a last-minute trip to Paris and Amsterdam - with one days' notice (poor Tanya), so everything was incredibly fast. Tanya was brilliant in her communication, help and assistance. She even got me an absolute bargain deal on the flights - which I greatly appreciated. As it was a last-minute booking - I asked Tanya to set out my itinerary in a "fool-proof" manner so I could follow it as I was traveling alone, and didn't want anything to go wrong. Tanya drafted me up a 2 A4 page step-by-step guide to my trip (including check in times, where to get on at stations, which terminal, how to get to train stations etc) - unreal. Will definitely be booking with Tanya again.
