Negative experience: Lazy, deceitful, and inept. After previously booking some flights through Flight Centre in Hervey Bay, I tried to give Lena a chance to make some decent commission with organizing a “blank cheque budget” 10 day trip to Phuket. At every stage, they never failed to find new ways to disappoint. After an initial screw up with the booking that saw my reservation downgraded from an ocean view suite to a normal ocean view room (at basically the same price), weeks after being told everything was booked/paid/confirmed, I find out that my booking had been downgraded AGAIN (no refund of course). Now, 7 of my 10 days are in an even more basic room with no view of the sea (the entire reason for picking this hotel to begin with). Flight Centre blames the Hotel, the Hotel blames Flight Centre, and neither of them is willing to do a thing to try and fix it. I said I don’t care how much it costs - all I want is what I was promised… and they just don’t give a damn. After speaking with the manager (Emily) on the phone and via email, I can tell that the culture of apathy comes from the top. She was dismissive, rude, unapologetic and had no interest in fixing the issue - even when I called her mid afternoon and asked her to call the hotel to fix it, she kept making excuses about why she had no interest in lifting a finger. The next day, I received an email that as so dismissive that it basically boiled down to “not our problem”. When I reached out to the hotel directly - the plot thickened. The Hotel claimed that Flight Centre were the ones that reached out to them and downgraded my booking out of the blue. When pressed for evidence, the hotel later provided proof of the downgrade request from Flight Centre. Flight Centre Hervey Bay / Bay Central were incompetent at so many occasions, I’d rate them 1 star regardless of this last screw up, but it might have saved them from what is coming their way now that I have proof of their fraud. In short, what started out as incompetence evolved into a bait-and-switch scam, and I hope that others can learn from my experience: never use these travel agents. UPDATE: The store manager lied her ass off, issue got escalated to the main support team who offered a gift certificate of ~1.5% of the cost of the holiday while refusing to accept any wrongdoing and continuing to ignore the issue of fraud and bait-and-swap. I rejected their crappy gift card (would rather chew glass than ever use them again) and then lodged a case with ATAS.

Fantastic experience: We had a terrible experience during our holidays in Philippines. It happened on our departure day which were going back home to Australia, when everything's fine and we are directed into wrong lane however still the same airlines which Singapore airlines and the problem was wrong time we fallen into (we find out little bit late for when we knew if there's a help from the Singapore staffs at the airport everything should be sorted, however non of our hopes nobody help us there) all they said contact the place where we purchased the ticket and so they can changed our time as we had an open ticket flight. It was very sad as I was trying to find and borrowed phones as our phones not really working at that time internationally and begged at the airport and so we can contact of ticket provider. As the international calls took you so long which that's made us running out of time and that even our ticket provider tried tried to talked to the Singapore staffs who is with us at the airport however they didn't do nothing but our flight ended up of No show automatically..as they said it's the customers problem why not coming on time...which we been in the airport form more than or almost 3 hours fallen into a lane which directed from the staffs and we found out it was a wrong lane....no calls from the Singapore staff for us to get aware. We ended up going back to our place we stayed in cebu. For many people we asked and maybe get some many to refund our ticket however no chance but to get a ticket to get us home to Australia. We tried and purchased online but nothing works and it was very devastated as we need to go back home before my hisband and kids will reach over 30days or else another problem again to pay fine of over staying and then we didn't know what else we have to do. Thanks God, when I contacted again the office here in the Hervey Bay Flightcentre and asked for help as it won't let me buy ticket online and I met Mis Jess Hil and she listened to my concern and that if we can maybe or whatever we can fly back to Australia on or before January 13 2025..it doesn't matter where as long as we can get out from Philippines on or before Jan 13 and luckily we got a last minute it's expensive however we just dealt with it. We got a connecting flight from Cebu last January 12 7:45pm to Hong Kong and then Sydney. Then Miss Jess included hotel booking at Adina hotel at Sydney which it was big and convenient and we had a good sleep after the big long flight and plus at Hong kong we didn't expect how cold there and all of us in summer clothing. Then on January 14 11am we fly back from Sydney to Brisbane where we picked our car and paid the rest. And thanks God we arrived safely home at 5pm on January 14, 2025. Thank you Flightcentre Centre and to you Miss Jess Hil your the best and you did a good job in helping us to be home safely within the time without anymore issues. Godbless.

Fantastic experience: We saw Jess and she was absolutely amazing, so patient with us and our requests. We only gave her a matter of days of when we wanted to depart for our Honeymoon and she was able to lock us in for our accommodation and all our experiences in a matter of an hr or so. Fantastic experience: I walked in to the Flight Centre store on a busy Saturday without booking, and Jess kindly squeezed me in. Although I had a fair idea what flights I wanted to book, she made the process simple and gave good advice. I had made a couple of errors in the details I gave, and she helped by exchanging emails over the rest of the weekend until we had everything sorted. I was very happy with the service.

Negative experience: Put our complete trip into what we thought was trusted hands but it ended up being the biggest mistake ever. Worst holiday and not because of where we went, every single thing that went wrong was solely because of the travel agent. Never ever again and I have no problem in letting others know not to trust him with their holiday.

Fantastic experience: The travel agent who was helping me persisted with all the information I threw at her and she handled it all in a very professional manner. She was absolutely amazing. Lena Radcliff. She was very patient and did everything she possibly could to resolve any issues I was having. Fantastic experience: Just back to Australia from my big trip to the USA and wanted to thank Luc Driver from the Hervey Bay Flight Centre for all the help and advice that he gave me that made this trip a great one. Having never had a holiday like this before I needed a lot of help. Luc was able to go through all the relevant options without confusing me and was able to give me the benefit of his firsthand experience in some of the places I was going. On two occasions the airlines changed flights (including cancelling our return flight to Australia while we were away) and rescheduled me onto ones that didn’t suit. Luc was quickly in touch and sorted it out without any fuss. He always provided information when he said he would and he gave me confidence that everything would go smoothly which it did. He was genuinely interested in my travels and couldn’t be more helpful. I would highly recommend him and will definitely be back to see him when next I travel. Thanks Luc.

Fantastic experience: I have just returned from a cruise on P&O Encounter for a 7 day trip, where Emily was responsible for organising, not only my personal trip, but those too of an additional 16 others of my friends who travelled along with me. 17 cruises of multiple ages, kids clubs, insurances, car bookings, information on the ship and activities it provides, information on the destinations of the cruise, activities or tours that would be beneficial to discover if we were interested. I can't say more about this consultant, her professionalism and attention to detail.

Fantastic experience: Could not be happier that we chose Flight Centre , and more to the point had Luc Driver as our consultant. This will be our first trip overseas ( Europe ) and Luc went out of his way to help plan and make bookings. I know it's an old cliche, but Luc actually DID go that extra mile. Negative experience: Recently returned from our holiday overseas, we did a MyCruises cruise package to the Mediterranean which was booked by Flight Center Hervey Bay. We should have just stayed with MyCruises. We did not enjoy our experience with Flight Center from the start. I won't get into the issues as there was too many to mention. I discussed our holiday with a group of friends who travel overseas yearly and who also have had bad experiences with Flight Center Hervey Bay. We are not going to book anymore trips with them. Once they have your money and booking that is it, I made so many calls an emails trying to find out about flights, hotels etc. Seems they are always off training or meetings or to busy to respond for days. Flight Center you need to pick up your game.

Negative experience: After searching online for the best deal. I decided to visit Flight Centre Hervey Bay. Full of enthusiasm, I announced that my sister and I would like to have a 7 night holiday at Fiji or Vanuatu. Was I wrong to think that the consultant would be more than willing to find a deal and at least help to organise such a trip. Instead, I got "Take a brochure from the Red box at the front. And basically you have to look online, then get back to us to organise for you." Took the enthusiasm rug right out from under me. Now I am thinking that maybe such a trip is not worth their time or effort. Is it only the big money spending trips that receive attention. Disappointed, yes!!! Wasn't like the Centre was busy. Two consultants sitting at desks with no customers.

Negative experience: If you want to book with them, make sure you book with someone that has been there long enough to make your booking right. They need to train their staff better

Negative experience: Very dissapointing. I went there to get a quote for holiday accomodation in Bali for a specific hotel. When I arrived after standing at the entrance a young agent welcomed with a "sigh" with how can I help? I could tell within the first minute her heart wasn't there in helping me. After the quote for the accomodation I asked why they didn't match their online price? She replied for an extra $600 they will look after my request personally. I would have expected that service regardless of being online or in store. She didn't try to sell me on anything so I left not booking online or in store. I was shocked that they wanted me to pay $600 just for booking in store. Never again in store or online after my experience.

We stated the cruise we wanted, where we should visit but sought advice on accommodation and flights. What really disappointed me was when I sent screenshots of cheaper cruise dates for exact same cruise to Jess to make enquires on our behalf. This was after I showed the discrepancy - around $250 - to the cruise line who said they would give a credit but as Flight Centre were the agent, they had to seek the credit adjustment. Jess did this, but nearly a week later and of course, the cheap price had finished and the difference was now a mere $10 or so. Jess advised me of this small margin, completely ignoring the original price difference and why that was missed out on. And to add insult to injury Jess advised me to contact the cruise line direct next time to get a reduction in pricing. Hello? Really? Didn’t I mention that the cruise line insisted that Flight Centre as travel agent for us, said get Flight Centre to do it? Finally Jess is going on maternity leave and when I asked her who is to be our contact during her absence the answer was “…any one of the staff can help you.” As a professional travel agency I am stating my disbelief and disappointment in the Hervey Bay store and the manager. I expected more than what I have got insofar as professionalism and customer service is concerned. And, we missed out in a $250 price reduction because Flight Centre simply dropped the ball and seemingly doesn’t care about that issue either. So, I am forced to give a very low review score. I am happy to talk to anyone from Flight Centre about this whole situation. My mobile number and email are in your files. I wait with eager enthusiasm.

Fantastic experience: Just wanted to thank Jessica Hill for her fabulous organisation of our recent trip to Europe. The Backroads Tour was very enjoyable – we were able to visit all the places on our wish-list and thanks to the knowledge of the guide and variety of activities scheduled we experienced much more than we would have done if we had have tried to undertake the trip ourselves. I also need to thank her for her organisation of our pre and post tour travel and accommodation. Particularly appreciated was her brilliance in ensuring Michael had an aisle seat for each flight (not sure how you managed that) and booking our train travel first class which not only made for a more enjoyable travel experience it also allowed us access to the Lounge facility at each railway station which made travelling with suitcases much easier and provided a very pleasant place to relax while waiting for the train.

Negative experience: Flight Centre. You should be ashamed of yourself. As a long time customer, our family have flown domestic and international as business class and economy passengers. Last year we booked online flights to Tasmania on Virgin. It was a travel party on nine passengers. Unfortunately, two were unable to travel. My mother and father, as my father had to begin immediate cancer treatment. We were told, no problem you will have a credit you can use for a flight with 12 months. We even provided medical documentation from my fathers specialist. No problem. My father has now finished treatment and desperately wants to use the credit to visit his elderly mother. He was unable to fly due to treatment and missed her 90th birthday celebrations too. Fast forward, my mother has been given the run around the last four weeks trying to use a credit for $688 for two economy flights to be re booked with virgin. First she was told it would be an additional payment of $200 on top of the $688 credit, even though flights online did not even equate to $688 for return fares for both passengers. We were told it was an additional fee from Virgin. Virgin has no idea about this additional fee. Then, they could not find the credit. Then, the credit was found and was told it would take 14 days for a credit with the airline so my mother could book the tickets directly with Virgin. Day 9 - my mother calls and Virgin are unaware of the request. Mother calls Flight Centre and it has not been processed yet. Finally, today she gets an email with credit detail for $254. That’s right - $254 NOT $688 which is what they paid and were expecting for a credit. I have left a message with the “Senior Consultant” as my mother is so distraught and my father - he does not even know when they will be able to see his elderly mother who he has not seen for years due to COVID and personal illness. I CANNOT believe this is how my family have been treated and continue to be treated when my previous experience with credits. Still waiting for this to be resolved with the team from Hervey Bay. Hopefully it can be resolved before my grandmother in Tasmania passes away. In response - these tickets were not purchased during covid. My parents want to book with the same airline. When fees are considerably cheaper online (by $200+) my mother understood she would loose that amount. But then to charge extra fees - which Virgin have said have nothing to do with them, is appalling. To then receive a credit with the airline no where near the original amount, it has to be a joke. I am still waiting for Hervey Bay to contact me back or to contact my mother and sort this out. You have my details, call me. Additional edit - from Virgin Hi Wanda, when you book via a third party they are the owner of the booking, not the operating airline. They may impose additional fees which we don't have insight into. We have not heard of a captains essential package, we're sorry. As they have authority over your booking we are unable to book using your credits. You would need to request they contact our Industry Support Team and provide authority for Virgin Australia to take over the booking to manage the credits. Once this is done our team would look to create a Travel Bank account for you and deposit the credits. Once this has been finalised you can use the account and credits to book direct with us. You can also do this online. Please know you won't have the credits instantly, this is a manual process so our team would need a few days to process the request and account. ^EM Note. NO WHERE on our original booking of nine passengers did we pay for the captains package. We only do this for international flights. Al we are asking for is the credit my mother and father deserve. $688 to Virgin for domestic flights.
Hi Meritta, I'm so sorry to hear of your families situation, and your frustration.
To provide a little more insight, travellers are bound by the booking conditions of the airline and the original ticket. Credits can be used towards tickets of the same or higher value. I appreciate this is frustrating to see lower fares not available for you to apply your credit to, and is because the these fares are a lower value ticket, but again, the airline rules specify that a credit is to be used for an equal or higher value. When speaking with both the airline and your agent, often the airline will not do a historical fare search to check the fare rules of the original ticket purchased, which is the fare rules the tucket must abide by as per the airlines terms & conditions, which I can understand is frustrating when you feel you are being given mixed advice.
Virgin Australia has re-taken over any credits for flights that were cancelled due to covid in 2020, otherwise, if this was a more recent cancellation our team would be more than happy to help you use this credit towards their trip, and I'm sure would be happy to provide a breakdown on the costs / fees for this.
Fantastic experience: I presented to Lauren Fletcher, a complex scuba-diving trip to Zanzibar recently, which she boldly took on without missing a beat. Professionally, securely and logically generating everything I could possibly need into a fantastically safe and simple package at an amazingly workable price. So, I would challenge any theory to beat her with a self-managed online booking, which I very much enjoyed putting to the test... That is why I could not recommend more highly the open and honest service at Flight Centre in Hervey Bay, Stockland.

Fantastic experience: Lauren is such an awesome and professional consultant, having assisted us back in 2020 when we unfortunately had to cancel our Borneo trip. Ever since, we have kept in touch and she was the only person we would trust with our two upcoming trips - the first is finally getting to Borneo, and the second is a trip to the Kimberleys WA. Her patience in dealing with the tour companies, often spending hours waiting on the phone is outstanding. She even assisted with some quirky seat allocations for my aviophobic husband! Her commitment to ensuring we always get the best deal is greatly appreciated, and she is an absolute credit to the Flight Centre team in Hervey Bay (Pialba). Thanks Lauren, lots more trips to come:)

Negative experience: Poor service with new staff who had no idea what they were doing. Unable to assist with our booking that we had done with same company online. Had to help them with how to do stuff. For interstate visitors as we were they left us feeling very unsatisfied.

Positive experience: Jess Ireland recently helped us to get our 84 year old friend, from Harvey Bay to Banka Banka station, 100 kms north of Tennant Creek, which was not an easy thing to do.
