Negative experience: Do not recommend. We booked a campervan for a week through this company. Our deposit was taken and we had no confirmation. Despite phoning, emailing, arriving at their office, leaving voicemails and WhatsApp we had no communication with them although they had taken our deposit. Eventually contacted the company the campers are owned by and they had no confirmation or our booking and received our deposit back. Compared to other companies they are also very expensive. Do not book with this company

Negative experience: Ich hatte mit meiner Mutter einen Road-trip mit Backpackers camperman gebucht. Wir waren dann am Sonntag, den 23.6.24 vor Ort in Brisbane und niemand war da. Extrem unglücklich. Ein Tag Roadtrip verloren. Auch sonst war der Manager sehr unhöflich am Telefon. Er hat dann meiner Mutter und mir am Montag erzählt, dass er die Mitarbeiterin gefeuert hat. Das interessiert uns als Kunde überhaupt nicht. Wenn es Sonntags nicht offen ist, dann darf man im Vertrag den Sonntag nicht bestätigen. Wir hatten ja die Anzahlung in Höhe von 580 Dollar ja schon im Februar 2024 getätigt. Echt schlechte Agentur. Auch der Van war ganz schön runtergerockt.

Negative experience: Terrible customer service and very poor van rental experience. Van had very weak aircon, Bluetooth for phone didn’t work and the alarm system was over sensitive meaning it went off numerous times during the night making it impossible to sleep. Hired the Jonny Feelgood Van for 10 days travelling up the East Coast. We were only able to stay in the van for 2 nights and had to pay to stay in hotels the rest of the trip making it a hugely costly and unpleasant experience. Upon numerous emails to the customer service team on these issues, they have fobbed us off to different contacts and then stopped responding. Do not book through this company

Negative experience: We booked a trip from Darwin to Adelaide 6 months before we were set to leave. Upon receiving an email stating the availability of a six berth motor home, we instantly confirmed the reservation and sent our banking details. A number of months later, we booked our flights and chose to arrive in Darwin a day early. We emailed Australian Backpackers to see if we could extend our booking, but upon inquiring, we found out that they did not make our booking and never told us it was unavailable. As a result, they were then booked out and and the only alternatives they offered were from locations over 1000km away and for $1000s more. Due to the subsequent lateness of our inquiry, other company with what we wanted were three times the price. As a result of researching a number of different options we resigned to loosing $2000 on flights and canceling our entire trip. We attempted to liaise with this business and they avoided our phone calls, didn’t respond to emails and were generally unhelpful and dismissive. I would definitely NOT recommend this business.

Negative experience: This guys sent my booking wrong and late to Jucy the provider. I try to call them to get extra days before and no answer , feedback or email back until the day of the trip. I specially with requested roof rack for surfboard and they forgort. I lost 3 hours waiting for my campervan and the rood racks to show up, because the agent didn't arrange anything for us right or on time. So frustrating. They also charge cancelation fee , but if you go to Jucy directly is free cancelation. I recieve no compensation or upgrades. HORIBLE EXPERIENCE, NOT RECOMMENDED. Go to different suppliers or direct companies

I just told them what kind of things we wanted to do, they suggested a few options and organised everything. Even just one week before the trip! When we came back to Sydney after our van broke down the first thing we did was going to the office and it felt like coming home. Great support always!

Fantastic experience: Home away from home I guess sums it all up. well organised in most aspects. kitchen is being cleaned thoroughly twice daily and the value for money is what I paid for the services I got. Thumps up all the way. including friendly funny staff and guests. I recommend it to all who wish to stay for a long or short term. oh yeh so close to the city

Positive experience: If ur here in Sydney' to work this is the place to be.

Negative experience: The Australian Backpackers hostel is cheap and that is one of the main reasons why people go and stay over there but there are several reasons for it being cheap! The whole hostel smells: in the corridors you will have the lovely smell of the toilets sewer. There are showers and toilets in every floor but only 2 showers in the second floor are working for the whole hostel. Toilets are not cleaned everyday and people are not all hygienic so toilets are dirty very often. The kitchen is dirty: You will find dishes and pans in the cupboards NOT WASHED. The hotplates are just black all around from the dirt. No hot water at the sink to wash dishes. And the SMELL awful most of the people there are disgusted to cook so they just go eat outside (extra cost). Cockroach (big sized) found in the room and another one in the kitchen sink. You will be woken up by screams of children and TV room is infested by guys yes but not the regular backpacker, you will find 40+ year old guys just laying down on the couches the whole day (or most of it). Manager Ben: does not know how to smile, how to be friendly. Screams at you if you ask for anything. Has an insecurity issue so due to that issue he will say things to you like: Do you want to fight? Don't argue with me! Give me your key and check out now! If you don't like it go elswhere! So yeah you better go ahead and find elsewhere before enduring all that. Only good point: (there had to be at least something good) Free wifi that works quite good. So there you go! If you are just looking for cheap and free wifi and you don't care about been hygienic and you like dirt and dirty smells and also like not to be treaten with respect well there you go that's your place to be.
