Our comment from TraTraTravel about UTracks:
UTracks provides exceptional self-guided walking and cycling holidays throughout Europe, combining breathtaking scenery, rich culture, and outstanding customer service. Many travelers praise the excellent accommodation and variety of meals, often highlighting local and family-run hotels that enhance the experience. The luggage transfer service operates smoothly, allowing adventurers to focus on their journey rather than their bags.
Many users commend the detailed itineraries provided through their app, which simplifies navigation and enhances the overall experience. Tours like 'Footsteps of Dali,' the Lycian Way, and cycling through the Loire Valley come with glowing endorsements for their stunning views and meticulously planned routes. In addition, UTracks often goes above and beyond to ensure traveler safety, even arranging alternative transport in emergencies.
While the majority of reviews are overwhelmingly positive, a few travelers encountered minor hiccups regarding directions and last-minute accommodations. However, UTracks has shown responsiveness to feedback and is committed to improving their services.
Overall, UTracks is highly recommended for anyone looking to explore Europe actively while benefitting from thorough planning and support. The team is dedicated to creating memorable experiences, helping each traveler create their next adventure.
UTracks: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Accommodation, luggage transfers and accommodation selection was excellent. Anthony was helpful all along prior to the trip. I would recommend Utracks very highly.
Truly wonderful to hear, thanks Gerald, we really appreciate your review. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Positive experience: UTracks “Footsteps of Dali” is a predominantly coastal walk from the very lovely French town Collioure to Cadeques in Spain. There are 2 routes to choose each day and each have different elevation and distance. On day 5 (the 4th day of walking) there is an option to climb up to a monastery. Try not to do this on the only day it is closed (as we did) - Monday. In my opinion the day between Cerbere and Llanca was the best - really pretty coastal scenery and included some rock hopping around the sea edge. The hotels were all family run and comfortable but usually a bit out of the centre. The luggage transfers worked well. (We didn’t have supplied luggage labels and so used sticky sports tape each day to label the next hotel name). Breakfasts were all excellent, dinners varied a bit - but they were adequate. I thought the trip was good value. The trails were not crowded and I recommend October as a good time for this hike. There is little shade so it would be extremely hot at the peak of summer.
What an amazing experience you had, Cathy! Thanks for sharing such a detailed review and fantastic photos from your trip. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful experience in Turkey hiking the Lycian way. It was unhurried, with beautiful scenes and access to nature. The accommodation was excellent with (truly) amazing home cooked Turkish food throughout. We felt a lot calmer, fitter and healthier afterwards.
What a great experience that must have been! The Lycian Coast is one of our favourites. Thanks for sharing your great review. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: The notes and app for our itinerary made everything easy, even eateries were shown on the app map. Accommodation choices were excellent and e bikes easy to lock & charge.
Thanks for taking the time to leave this 5-star review, Helen; we really appreciate it! We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: UTracks did everything they promised, but it is what they did above & beyond that stands them apart. We were caught in the fires in Portugal & they arranged transport to get us out of danger, changed hotel bookings to accommodate the new circumstances & made us feel very safe. We were more than impressed with the level of communication & service. I won't be looking anywhere else when I book my next trip.
That's a mighty fine recommendation, thanks so much Mike! Hopefully next time there won't be any weather issues and you can fully enjoy your trip. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic trip! Well organised and everything went smoothly. Would probably split the two big 30+ days if I were to have my time again. The heat adds another level of difficulty. Accommodations were all different but all clean and welcoming. Meals were varied as we walked into different regions the food changed to what was local. We never had a bad meal or a bad stay anywhere. Highly recommend this trip through France. A nice quiet Camino compared to the Frances but far more challenging. Very enjoyable.
Great to hear you loved your time on the Le Puy Camino, Lisa. What a great experience to look back on. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Negative experience: Self-guided Hadrian’s Wall Walk. The local agent’s documentation needs immediate updating to include current accommodation used and their locations. I also had to uncover (it was not proactively disclosed to me) a double up in accommodation location booking (same town over two nights but different accommodation 160 metres apart) by the same local agent which resulted in me having to walk two days of distance in one day, back track for accommodation on the second night and be charged for a 160m bag transfer! UTracks did apologise and the local agent covered my dinner one night as compensation, but the situation would not have happened if either UTracks or their local agent had reviewed their itinerary which would have called out quite loudly to them the messy issue, before finalising it and providing it to me. I was later contacted by UTracks to acknowledge my post trip feedback, but stating that both UTracks and their local agent had been in contact with me THROUGHOUT my walk. To be clear - I had one phone call initiated by UTracks after I had identified the issues and emailed them, and the only contact with the local agent were two emails and one phone call that I initiated to inform them of the issues they created, that I had to uncover. I wouldn’t describe that as anyone from UTracks or their local agent being in contact with me throughout my trip. It is important to not over state the service or support that people provide to a client.
We are sorry about this error on your itinerary. We believe our staff on the ground did their best to assist you at that time with an offer to change the location of the hotel and the provision of an evening meal. We agree that it should never have happened and have tightened our systems to ensure this is the case. We have clarified with you by phone that the contact was just at the period when the problem occurred and not throughout the walk – we apologise for this wrong inference in our communication.
Positive experience: Recently two trips with utracks. Mont Blanc self-guided and Austrian hike-bike. In summary, the experience is only as good as the local partner. In Austria, Helmut was amazing! Met with us prior - went over every detail of the trip, answered his phone if we had a concern. Mont Blanc, the partner would only communicate by text, did not meet us on arrival, and would not return calls even when we had an emergency. Other concerns we raised with utracks staff were not responded to adequately leaving the feeling that they had our money, job done.
Thanks for your review. We are so pleased that Helmut was able to assist you with your questions during your time in Austria. On your walk around Mont Blanc our partner received texts from you when your luggage was delayed. He worked behind the scenes to ensure it was delivered. Unfortunately this was a problem with the luggage transfer service due to a road blockage. We apologise that your concerns were not addressed with you by UTracks at this time. We are investigating why you did not receive a response and assure you it is highly unusual and not in accordance with our service level guidelines.
Fantastic experience: UTracks is awesome. My Assisi trip was one of the most beautiful trips I have taken in my 56 years. I wanted to walk by myself, and Utracks teamed up with a local Italian travel company to do everything for me—book the hotels and move my bags from hotel to hotel as I walked the track. The app was AMAZING. It showed the daily itinerary, and the interactive map told me metre by metre where I needed to go and whether I was on track or not. It was far more accurate than Google Maps, and I loved all the commentary on what to look for and what not to. The places I stayed were known as "agriturismo places." They are hosted by families on working farms. Those gorgeous families had farms and accommodations that sometimes dated back to 800!!! But all of them had done a fantastic job updating them to be modern, beautiful rooms. I loved how warm the hosts were and how much they appreciated my stay. There were seldom more than 5 people staying each night. The walk was fabulous -- and incredibly well-researched and noted. I was often the only one on the trails, but I always felt safe and looked after by UTracks in their 24-hour cover. I never had to use it - but as a single woman walking on her own through the Italian hills -- it is great to know that people know where I am. The preparation pack sent to me was also incredibly organised with equipment lists, hotel directions-- with all the contacts, and the contacts of the lovely fellow who would be taking my bag from place to place. He was fantastic -- and I also felt supported by him if things were to go wrong. I will definitely be working with Utracks again and can't wait to plan my next adventure.
Katharine - we're blushing. So great to receive such positive feedback and we're so happy you had a fantastic time exploring Italy with our services. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: The Portuguese Coastal Camino - This was a very well-organised trip. Accommodation and meals were excellent
Thanks Jane - everyone has been raving about the Portuguese Camino, and we're so glad you enjoyed it too! We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: Great hike to sample some of the best locations along the Tour Du Mont Blanc. Our guide Sara was great at maintaining pace and knew the route very well. The scenery was amazing especially the tall mountains close to our accomodation. The accomodation provided great 3 course dinners, and we got to sample French, Swiss and Italian food. This is not an easy hike, but as long as you are able to do 1000 mtr elevation gain hikes, this is thoroughly enjoyable.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos and words, Adwait! The Tour du Mont Blanc is one of our most popular hiking routes and it is easy to see why. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: A wonderful trek in an amazing part of the world! We loved our mule Arriete who carried some of our luggage. Our guide Phillipe was a no- nonsense sort of guy, with a passion for the mountains, and who looked after us extremely well!
Phillipe is an exceptional guide on the Tour du Mont Blanc! Thanks for your fantastic 5-star review, Ian. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe!
Fantastic experience: We had a great 8 day Loire Valley bike tour. The bikes were very good with an easy collection, fit out and departure. A minor problem with one of the bikes was quickly resolved with a phone call. Paper maps were provided but not adequate, however, the RoadBook app was very good and essential. Trip and route notes were also provided which were helpful. Accomodation was very good but be prepared to carry your suitcase up many stairs. Overall, this trip is recommended
Thanks for your amazing review, Bruce! The Loire Valley is a wonderful region to cycle and we're so glad to hear you enjoyed your time there. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: Had a fabulous time on our 7 day bike and boat trip on the Danube from Passau to Vienna
Thanks for your fantastic 5-star review Wendy! We absolutely loved seeing your photos from your trip. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: The Lake Constance route was beautiful and varied - and well paced. Bike hire and accommodation arrangements went smoothly. The maps provided were excellent and UTracks were able to accommodate late changes that we made- much appreciated!
Thanks Vivienne, this is wonderful to hear! We think the Lake Constance trail is one of Europe's finest bike paths and we're so glad you enjoyed it. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Positive experience: 2 cycle tours and 1 hike, all self-guided, through Europe in 4 weeks, all organised through Utracks. Arranged accommodation excellent, and luggage transfers perfect. Only hiccup directions from the cycling company for the self-guided Amsterdam to Brussels cycle were extremely hard to decipher therefore lost 90% of the cycle. Loire Valley Castles cycle around south of France much smoother. Hiking trails easier to follow even though our hike (via Alpina Switzerland) was very challenging. Definitely the best way to see and appreciate the country.
We wholeheartedly agree - walking or cycling between regional towns is the best way to explore a country! Thanks for your great review Alison and sharing your notes about the cycling directions, we are continuously amending route notes based on client feedback. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe!
Fantastic experience: Trip notes helpful for overseas visitors, GPX fiiles excellent, hotels very clean and comfortable, staff very helpful, bike in excellent working condition
Thanks for your excellent recommendation Richard! We're so pleased to hear you had a wonderful time on the Lake Constance Circuit. Our team look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: Hassle free self guided tour around the most scenic Austrian hills and lakes. All our heavy baggage taken care of from hotel to hotel. Hiking not difficult at all, instructions are v clear. I recommend use online GPS map. In case someone want to shorten the walking, various options (bus / boat) provided.
We're so happy to hear you loved exploring Austria's lakes with our services. Your photos speak for themselves - absolutely stunning! Thanks for your 5-star review and we look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Positive experience: Accommodation and meals were excellent as was the scenery. Only letdown was the walking route not always clear from directions given
Thanks for your review Heather, we're so glad you had an excellent time exploring the Dordogne with our services. It's one of our most popular trips! We have taken your feedback on route notes into consideration. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Positive experience: We used UTracks to organise our self guided Portugal Coastal Camino walk. We were very happy with information provided for our walk and accommodation picked.
Thanks for sharing these great photos, Kerry! We love to see them. The Camino Portuguese is certainly emerging as a popular trail to walk. The team look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: Burgundy, Bike and Barge, great experience, couldn't fault the Fleur and her crew. Fantastic food, accommodation, guiding and attention to detail made for a most enjoyable holiday. Thanks to Steffi, the owner and chef for the week who made sure everything ran smoothly.
Burgundy is such a fantastic region for a bike and barge holiday, we're so happy to hear you loved your experience. Thanks for your kind review Judy, we look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: Aged 68, walking the Camino French Way over the Pyrenees to Logrono was challenging. We took our time, and included lay days in our UTracks itinerary. The trip was made much easier and enjoyable with Utracks' support (including emergency support) and organising quality hotel accommodation, meals and luggage transport.
Thanks for your wonderful review, John. We bet you feel pretty proud of your accomplishment - as you should! We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Positive experience: Wonderful picturesque walk beautiful hilltop towns with interesting history . Accommodation very good. Luggage transfer works well. The maps could be clearer at certain places and it would have been nice to be contacted by someone from utraks at some stage. No risk management processes.
Thanks for your review Alex, we're so happy you enjoyed exploring Tuscany's hilltop villages. We do have a 24/7 support hotline in case you needed any assistance from our team. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: Utracks were excellent and always responded quickly to any queries before the trip. The Baltics ride was wonderful and well managed from the first booking to the completion. The bike was better than any I have had on previous trips as it was reasonably light and easy to manage compared to some e-bikes. The guide Minde was also excellent.
Thanks for your amazing 5-star review Ngaere! We really appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. The Treasures of the Baltic cycling tour is one of our favourites so we're certainly pleased you had a fab time. We look forward to helping you plan your next active travel holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: Thank you for such a well organised trip. The bikes were good and very fit for purpose. The app for the route was fabulous and never let us down. The hotels were all fine and at the level of accommodation that was stated. Our luggage was always there at the hotels when we arrived. It was tremendous to be able to ride so far on almost exclusively bike tracks that were separate from the road.
You're more than welcome, Candy! It's so wonderful to hear you had a great time on our Bordeaux to Biarritz Cycle Tour. Our team look forward to helping you plan your next active trip in Europe.
Fantastic experience: Great walk, very well organized , good hotels. Some instructions bit confusing but map was easy to follow.
Thanks for sharing a beautiful photo from the trail in Corsica (and your 5-star review!). We really appreciate hearing from travellers who have loved their European experiences with us. Our team looks forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: Whilst it’s a self-guided tour, I felt supported out on the road. Your luggage is transported daily from hotel to hotel and we were able to leave some extra items with Randovelo (the bike shop) whilst we were away for the week. The bikes were very comfortable and the staff at Randovelo were terrific. Helmets were available for those who wanted them. The UTracks app is excellent and provides lots of options depending on what you want to achieve for the day. The standard of accommodation was basic to good with the hotel in Chitenay being excellent. UTracks provides a great option for those who want flexibility, but need all the essentials taken care of (bike hire, accommodation, luggage transport etc).
Wow - thanks so much for your glowing review Laurence! We're so happy to hear you had a fantastic time exploring the Loire Valley by bike. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: Since we consider ourselves wanderers and not tourists, journeying throughout the mountains of the Amalfi Coast combined with the tinsel touches of the costal tourist towns, along with those welcomed little family Cafes in remote locations was a perfect mix for us. Have Fun, Cheers Shane
Thanks for your great 5-star review Shane! The Amalfi Coast can certainly be a touristy place but we like to think we include off the beaten track destinations there, so we really appreciate your feedback. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: 300km in 12 days from Porto to Santiago de Compostela where a Cathedral stands as the most beautiful ‘Welcome’ imaginable. The accomodation arranged by UTRACKS was consistently excellent & the ease of only having to worry about carrying your backpack and what you’ll have for lunch is perfect. Yes, most days at breakfast you can make up your own bread roll and filling. Notes and directions were included but once you arrive in Spain you just need to look for the ‘shell’ and ‘yellow arrow’ to find your ‘way’. I am 67 years old & consciously chose to walk alone however I met some fabulous people along the way and finally had hours on end with ‘no headchatter’. There’s healing which catches you unaware & makes every step very worthwhile.
Wow wow wow! Thank you so much for sharing your amazing experiences with us! Our team truly appreciates hearing it. Your photos are fantastic too, Amanda. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe. Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: Lycian Way Self Guided Coastal Walk. Would highly recommend this trip. It provides great variety in scenery, beginning in the very hilly area around the base of Mt Olympos; down into lovely valleys and then stunning coastal scenery. We found the written directions to be excellent while the red and white track markers gave us lots of help as well. We were very impressed with Mehmet who kept in contact with us at the end of each day.
We're currently fawning over the Lycian Way trail, so it's so great to see your wonderful photos! Thanks for sharing your kind review Anne, we really appreciate reading it. Glad to know that Mehmet looked after you well too. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: We found the hotels, meals and movement of luggage made our Camino so much easier to navigate. Wise Pilgrim was a great app to use in addition to the maps and apart from Vigo every town was a highlight. The walking was not to difficult, walking poles helped with the occasional hill :) Buen Camino
Good Road Bernadette, and thank you for your lovely review. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Positive experience: Portugal Palace & Coastal trip March 2023. Excellent accomodation exceeding expectations. We used the book directions as not tech savvy enough to use GPS and navigational apps. Generally directions were pretty good though some directions did lose a little clarity in translation.
Thanks for your great review Kerrie, we're so happy to hear you had an excellent time walking in Portugal. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: We recently did the unguided Sarria to Santiago section and can thoroughly recommend U Tracks . Initial contact was informative and detailed and pre walk info comprehensive. The first hotel had other details from the company. The bag moving service was efficient and comforting. I would recommend the hotel upgrade on this section and we should have stayed two nights as it was so good. Paza Santa Maria at Arzua is a destination in itself. The others varied of course but this one was exceptional. Being served lovely Tempranillo on the terrace overlooking the valley made the long hill walks disappear. The other place worthy of praise was at Palais de Rei , Casa Benilde, where we were greeted so well, escorted to our room and at breakfast escorted again and served personally by two lovely staff. Well done U Tracks.
There is not much better in life than a glass of Tempranillo in Spain while walking the Camino de Santiago! Thanks for sharing your recommendations and we're so glad to hear you had an incredible time. We look forward to planning your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: What a great experience - self guided bike ride through the south of Sardinia. We are two adults (in our 50's) with two teenagers who also loved the experience. I would recommend an electric bike (depending on your fitness level as there are some hills) also which was fabulous.
This must have been a wonderful family holiday! Thanks for your fantastic 5-star review Anthea and your recommendation for an e-bike to tackle the hills. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: Self-guided Walk in Dordogne. All aspects of the trip happened as arranged. All hotels and dinners were beyond expectations, welcoming and well located - a number with absolutely sensational views. The guide notes were generally very good, but the GPS maps were fantastic as a support when directions were a little more difficult to follow. The towns and villages visited - both along the way and at the end of each day - were sensational and contributed strongly to the overall experience. Market Day in Sarlat was a tremendous experience to spend with locals and visitors alike. The local Rep, Christine, was extremely professional and timely in picking us up and returning us to the train at the beginning and end of the walk, and also for arranging alternative dinner arrangements on our final evening in Souillac. The weather could not have been much better as well. Altogether, a great experience for us both.
Oh to be back walking in the Dordogne! It sounds like you had a lovely experience in France. Thanks for your kind 5-star review Peter. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: We really enjoyed the Brittany Walled Towns cycle, and everything went smoothly. It was in mid-September and we had great cycling weather. Route maps always seem to throw up a few puzzles but we had the .gpx files as well and between the two we never strayed too far and sometimes found a better path. We liked how often we were on back roads, where we had to dodge more farm machinery than cars.
We agree Rhys - it's always better exploring France's backroads, especially by bike! Great to hear you had an incredible time in Brittany. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday.
Positive experience: The Way of St James - Conques to Cahors: “This is a lovely walk for those interested in seeing rural France. To walk for hours through farmland or forest and end the day with good wine and food is one of life’s great pleasures.” Stuart Parker.
Sounds like a very pleasurable experience indeed! Thanks for sharing your review with us Stuart. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: U Tracks made it easy. As a single traveller I find overseas travel a bit daunting. U Tracks had everything booked including trains and buses. Everything worked smoothly. Would definitely recommend this company.
This is fantastic to hear - thank you so much Rosemary. We're very happy to hear you had an incredible time while walking the Camino: Sarria to Santiago, and we look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Positive experience: Circumnavigating the Isle of Wight by bicycle is certainly a great adventure. So much history and relics to see as you ride gravel lanes and climb winding hills experiencing undulating country lanes and climbing to the summit of The exhilarating Needles. Any worries of luggage transfers are alleviated by an amazing door to door accommodation service including a great selection of bed and breakfast places. I did this ride solo and felt confident with the maps and information package provided by U-tracks. Overall, a great adventure.
Cycling the Isle of Wight is one of our most popular bike routes and we're so pleased to hear you had a wonderful time while using our services. We look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe. Thanks Desrae!
Positive experience: We did the basic hotel level and the quality exceeded our expectations, itinerary was complete and well presented, and our baggage was always on time. LOVED IT. The Danube riding tour was varied enough to be exciting every day, and nice and easy cycling.
The Blue Danube Cycle tour through Austria is one of our all-time favourite rides! We're so chuffed to hear you had an incredible experience. James - we look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday in Europe.
Fantastic experience: Wainwright's Coast to Coast 11-24th June 23. A wonderful and memorable trip. Excellent accommodation, food and hospitality.
Thank you for travelling with UTracks on the Tour du Mont Blanc. We are so pleased you enjoyed the experience. Being one of the first trips of the season we did have a small problem with new luggage handlers which has now been rectified. We apologise for the inconvenience this created. Hope to see you on the trails again soon. The team at UTracks
Fantastic experience: Utracks booked us a great biking tour in the Loire, France in 2019. The service was impeccable from pick up at the railway station, to the village hotel with food art at every meal. Our bikes were in great condition and the biking trails fascinating through rural France and to Chateaux. We loved it.
Impeccable service - that's great to hear Gillian! Cycling in the Loire Valley is such an incredible experience and we're glad that you enjoyed yourselves to the fullest. The team looks forward to helping you plan your next tour in Europe!
Fantastic experience: We signed but for something a little different with the 'Turkey Walk and Sail' tour - a week of enjoying 'Mediterranean' Turkey by sailing on a gulet, mooring in peaceful coves and walking the spectacular coastline. Certainly different but well worth while. Food was excellent, accommodation and crew great. Thanks for this opportunity!
It's always great to do something a little different! We're so happy that you enjoyed your time in Turkey - sailing there is sometimes overlooked for Croatia and Greece - and had fun exploring the coast on a walking holiday. I wonder what will inspire you for your next trip... :) Will from UTracks
Fantastic experience: Had a blast on our Tuscany bike tour. Could not recommend highly enough! They were fantastic to deal with and the tour itself was just awesome. Saw all the best bits and found amazing tracks to keep us off the main roads. Simply awesome!
Great to hear Travis! Cycling those trails is definitely a unique way to experience Tuscany and we're so happy that you had a fantastic time. We can't wait to help you out on your next European cycling journey. Will from UTracks
Fantastic experience: Best of the Camino - 8 September 2019: This was a wonderful trip on a number of levels. I am recently retired and wanted to walk on the pilgrim path. While I did not "find myself" on the walk it was reflective and very fulfilling. The other members of our small group all had their own reasons for the trip and were equally thrilled. This trip focused on walking the best spots between Roncesvalles and Santiago de Compostela. In total we walked 160K along the french St James Way then topped that off with an hour plus village/city walk. Our guide Jorge, made all participants feel well looked after and provided amazing commentary on the path traversed and the cities we stayed in. The daily luggage transfers was managed by a friendly driver with a small bus. The accommodation was good and meals were traditionally Spanish. (not always to my taste but still satisfying). Now that I am home I have fond reflections on this trip and would recommend to others who love walking.
Hi Alexia, We love to hear about such positive experiences along the Camino. Thank you for your kind words and we look forward to helping you plan your next active holiday. Warm regards, Will from UTracks
Fantastic experience: Our 4 week self guided walking trip with UTracks of 4 stages on the Via Francigena from Pavia - Fidenza - Pontremoli - Lucca - Siena was excellent! Every day was different and fun! The VF is a perfect walk for those wanting uncrowded paths with amazing scenery. My favourite part was near Pontremoli where we could see the marble topped mountains of Carrerra that looked like snow. It seemed like everything we passed for a few days was made of marble including our walking path, village paving, curbing, stairs, garden beds, statues etc and the rivers and streams were filled with blocks of marble. We also loved being in quiet, historic, rural Italy and miles away from the touristy areas. We were amazed by how lovely the Italian people are along the VF! We booked with UTracks because they have a large selection of good value trips. We'd also had a good experience with World Expeditions. We didn't want to have the challenge of finding our own accommodation each night and trying to book in a foreign language. Booking with the Sydney office went smoothly and all communications were professional and timely. Our accommodation was a mix of hotels and agriturismo (B n Bs). All were well located, unique and comfortable with friendly staff and all with typical Italian breakfasts. Some were exceptionally luxurious and we could have easily stayed another night! The baggage transfers went perfectly every day and it was a nice feeling to be reunited with our bags each day. Once we needed to contact the UTracks on-the-ground representative and we were attended to very promptly and satisfactorily. With our accommodation, breakfast and baggage reliably taken care of by UTracks, it made planning the rest of the day easy. We enjoyed our trip so much that we have just booked another long walk, this time for 6 weeks in France with UTracks!
Wow! Thanks for your very informative review Cathy. We are blushing here at UTracks! So glad to see that you had an incredible time walking the Via Francigena and loved every aspect of it. It's great to hear that you are enjoying active travel in Europe as much as we do and we wish you all the best for your next walking journey in France. Kind regards, William from UTracks
Fantastic experience: We have just arrived back home after the wonderful experience of walking the last 115klms of the Camino,Sarria to Santiago de Compostela Thanks to the team at Utrack who provided the basis for this amazing self guided tour! Accommodation, luggage transfers, meals and support were all available and worked seamlessly. We loved the experience of meeting new people on the track and having a destination to walk to each evening allowed us to relax and just focus on the days walk and to take our time to enjoy the adventures along the way. Utrack’s attention to detail was great and we were able to navigate our way without to much stress. We would be happy to recommend Utrack for an active holiday and look forward to browsing their next catalogue.
Thank you so much for your 5 star review Sonia, we truly appreciate it here at UTracks! Very glad to see that your time walking the Camino Trail was a wonderful and meaningful experience. Thanks again for recommending active travellers take a walking or cycling holiday with us and we look forward to helping you explore Europe on your next journey. Kind regards, William from UTracks
Fantastic experience: We really enjoyed our cycling self guided tour along the Mosel valley, the hotels were well located with generous yummy breakfasts and the map was easy to follow each day.
Hi Andrea, The Moselle Valley is spectacular isn't it! We're very happy to hear that your self guided cycling tour was an enjoyable experience. We look forward to helping you book your next active trip in Europe. Kind regards, William from UTracks
Fantastic experience: We did the self-guided cycling tour from the Dolomites to the Adriatic sea in Italy. This was our first cycling tour and has whet our appetite for more. The organisation of the trip was excellent. Good maps and instructions - navigating through this terrain was half the fun. Accommodation including breakfasts was excellent and met our expectations. The bikes were quite good as well (steel-framed hybrids and e-bikes) - almost new. Those who chose e-bikes were very happy that they did. This was a fairly challenging ride with quite a few climbs. But the e-bikes made it a very enjoyable time taking all the hard work out of the climbing. And the scenery on this ride was absolutely stunning. Definitely the BEST way to see a country.
Hi Russell, You've caught the active travel bug - we totally agree that an in depth walking or cycling trip is the best way to see a country! Glad to hear that cycling in the Dolomites was a challenging yet rewarding experience and that the e-bikes were beneficial. Perhaps next time you'd like to try and cycle a Camino trail or the Coast to Coast in the UK? There's a plethora of cycling holidays in Europe to choose from... Kind regards, William from UTracks
Positive experience: When we arrived in Porto the hotel didnt have a booking for us but they did admit it was their fault and upgraded our room. The hotel was very dark and everything some shade of brown however staff pleasant and breakfast very good. The taxi that took us to the outskirts of Porto to start the walk was on time and this was a worthwhile ride as walking through cities is never enjoyable. Our suitcase was always waiting for us at the hotels we were booked in. The most difficult part of the trip was eating dinner early enough so not to be too late to bed but that's the Portuguese way so we adjusted. The walk was interesting with many gum and wattle trees at times you could be thinking you were in Australia. We have also walked the French camino and found that more interesting. Others may disagree. The walking path was not difficult mostly hard surfaces that caused some walkers to have blisters but no really steep hills and it is clearly sign posted. There are numerous cafes along the way to buy lunch.
Hi John, Thanks for your review and taking the time to share your experiences in Portugal with others. It's interesting to note the differences and similarities in trails between European countries and even Australia. We hope you look forward to your next walking holiday! Kind regards, William from UTracks
Fantastic experience: We were mountain bike riders in the tour of Russia: Moscow and Beyond - guided cycle in May 2019. It was our first guided bike experience and we chose Russia because it was so different to where we had been on previous holidays. Our guides were excellent and had organised the trip so that we had a very good balance of riding, sight seeing and learning about the locations and cities we visited. The ride itself was not onerous, about 35 to 45 kms per day with very few hills. The surfaces varied, as was the landscapes which made it all the more interesting. We felt that we were in quite remote locations along the Volga River, passing through small traditional villages, river flats, pine forests, crossings streams and skirting farms. We saw very few people during the days, but returned to towns and cities for accommodation. The food was great and a feature were the historical tours each morning in the cities we visited. It was a much more than a mountain ride ride - it was a true cultural experience and we recommend it to others who are looking for something with a difference in an intriguing country with a rich history.
Thanks for your review Phillip. Its great to read about your experience on our Moscow and Beyond Cycle tour. We agree that you really see a different side to this intriguing country on a cycling trip. The Team at UTracks
Fantastic experience: We walked the Coast to Coast track in 2018. It is a fabulous walk from the west of England to the East, through all sorts of differing terrain. Apart from the first two days of our walk we were blessed with perfect sunny weather and consequently very little bog to deal with on the Moors. I completely fell in love with the Yorkshire Dales, an area I had never visited, but each day of the walk brought us new places and sights. I cannot recommend this walk highly enough, it is wonderful. A small proviso, it is quite tough and there are long days so one has to have a reasonable level of fitness to complete it.
Thanks for your review Patricia. We were so pleased to read you had good weather and completely agree with your opinion on the Yorkshire Dales - a very special pocket of England. The Team at UTracks
Fantastic experience: We thoroughly enjoyed this trip! What a fantastic way to take in the beautiful scenery of Austria. Being self guided, we could go at our own pace and do a number of the side trips which proved to be well worth the extra effort. The organisation of accommodation, materials and the daily pick up and delivery of our bags was smooth - thank you Utracks. I will definitely hope to do another trip. Ian Bucknell
Hi Ian, thanks for your wonderful feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed our Salzburg to Vienna Cycle trip - the Salzkammergut region lends so well to cycling. We look forward to having you on another UTracks trip soon.
Fantastic experience: Bolzano to Venice Guided Cycle Tour A great group of disparate people Looking at joining similar groups The best way to experience Italy
Thanks for your feedback and for sharing some lovely images Paul, we hope to see you on another active UTracks trip soon!
Fantastic experience: We did the trans Tyrol walk in 2018. It was as described the most demanding walk we have done, but well described and supported. We have done a number of trips with Tracks and would happily use them again.
Hi Greg, thanks for taking the time to leave feedback. This is one of our most challenging alpine walks so you ought to feel very proud that you completed it.
Fantastic experience: The Food Lover's Spanish Camino trip in May 2018 was a fabulous experience walking selected sections of the Camino each day then dining out with the group each evening. Restaurants varied from local and rustic to Michelin starred, and all were an experience. Our guides Anna and Jorje were great, for their historical knowledge, their food expertise, and their sense of humour. This tour was a real highlight.
This trip is such a unique way to experience the Camino and the food of northern Spain, we’re glad it was a highlight of your holiday in Europe Michael. We hope to see you again on another trip in our Food Lover’s range.
Fantastic experience: Enjoyed our week long self guided cycle along the Danube - Passau to Vienna- so much - treasure memories of cycling the Wachau Valley and the triumphant ride into Vienna! Yes it rained at times but it makes for cooler cycling. Great way to see the countryside and enjoyed the cameraderie of fellow cyclists at our accommodation in the evenings - or not depending on how you feel. We upgraded one level in accommodation and it was very good. All arrangements fell into place. We did e - bikes and were glad when some days were well and over 60km. We’re medium range fit. Don’t miss Melk Abbey and the Konditorrei in the old town. Tack on some extra days in Vienna if you can and do a walking tour.
Thanks for your helpful review and recommendations to visit Melk Abbey and the Konditorrei. We really appreciate it! We're glad the e-bikes came in handy and that you thoroughly enjoyed the Austrian countryside. Kind regards, William from UTracks
Fantastic experience: We walked the Full French Camino over 36 days and it was all fantastic, can highly recommend Utracks they came through with flying colours. I am happy to talk to anyone who has any questions, we walked Sept 1st 2018 through to Oct 12th.
Hi Sally, Thanks for your kind words and offer to pass on advice and insight to future Camino walkers. It's such a meaningful and life changing journey. We're happy that you're happy and hope to see you again for another trip soon! Cheers, William from UTracks
Fantastic experience: Loved my self-guided Bike & Boat trip along the Danube. We had the best of both worlds, cycling by day, boat by night. And the electric bikes were just awesome, giving us so much more time to explore the countryside and villages and indulge in the occasional long lunch.
Hi Sue, Thanks for your kind words, we're glad to hear you loved your bike and boat active holiday! The e-bikes are certainly of great value aren't they. We look forward to helping you organise another active trip in the future. Kind regards, William from UTracks.
Fantastic experience: Walked and cycled the Camino self-guided. Fantastic accommodation, seamless luggage transfers, fabulous service by the staff.
Thanks for the kind words and positive feedback, we love to hear it!
