Dive Centre Manly

Fantastic experience: I first visited Dive Centre Manly (DcM) three months ago to buy some scuba gear and do a refresher course. After a great chat with James, I signed up for the Reactivate course with Fletch. The course was not only fun but also very thorough Fletch ensured everyone understood the material while keeping the experience enjoyable. After completing the two Reactivate dives, I asked James for advice on improving my diving skills as an Open Water Diver. Following an in-depth and professional discussion, I decided to go all in with the Advanced to Dive Master package. It was challenging, but the experience and knowledge I gained along the way were invaluable. The Advanced course with Fletch was one of the most exciting times of my life. Next, I completed the Rescue Diver course with Jeeven, who is hands down the best mentor and instructor I’ve ever met. His calm and effective teaching style was incredibly impressive. Although the course was tough, it was also a lot of fun. After countless dives, I began my Dive Master training, which turned out to be the most rewarding yet exhausting journey of my life. You need discipline and dedication, but DcM makes sure you’re supported every step of the way. They always answered my questions quickly and clearly. During the training, I had the chance to work closely with amazing instructors like Bill, one of the most experienced and genuinely cool people I’ve met. I learned so much from him. Luke, though younger, has incredible diving knowledge and was an immense help, even outside work hours. Jordan always had helpful tips, often before I even asked, which I found remarkable. Stew was another key figure, teaching me a lot about the technical side of diving. As for guided dives, I particularly enjoyed diving with Jimmy, but dives with Jack, Cameron, Lisa, and Ollie were just as amazing. Dive Centre Manly also offers special events like night dives, which I highly recommend, and trips like South West Rocks with Tricky, which was the most incredible diving experience of my life and not to forget for the „ PADI aware foundation“ dives against debris, to safe the planet. I’d also like to mention Izzy, who manages marketing and is one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. Lastly, Michael, the shop owner, is not only a great instructor but also incredibly friendly and helpful. I had the pleasure of knowing him as both a teacher and my boss during my Dive Master internship, which I recently completed. My experience with Dive Centre Manly has been nothing short of exceptional. Every word I’ve written is honest. I highly recommend DcM to anyone interested in diving. Thank you, Dive Centre Manly, for such a unique and unforgettable experience!

Fantastic experience: Had the best time doing the PADI Open Water Diver Course in Manly. Jordan is a great instructor - his enthusiasm and knowledge of diving shone through the 2 days and made the course a very memorable experience. The highlights were definitely seeing the wildlife beneath the surface. We saw Basil - the green sea turtle, eagle rays, squids, gropers and cuttlefish, which I totally did not expect to see. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking of trying it out.

Fantastic experience: 2 weeks ago I got my open water license with Luke. He’s very kind & patient (especially when I made quite a few mistakes during the training) but then with his superb guidance, I managed to get through the course. Thanks so much Luke, I honestly wouldn’t be able to do it without you. Yesterday, I booked double guided shore dive and Juliet was our guide. She was very gentle & kind, always actively showing us cool stuffs, we also bumped into Basil the turtle, super friendly blue groper and got the chance to see southern eagle ray chilling on the sand and on our second dive, we saw it gracefully swimming away. Overall a solid 10/10 experience and I will always come back to dive with DCM

Fantastic experience: I did the Open Water course at Dive Centre Manly and I am absolutely thrilled! From start to finish the experience was excellent. Jordan, my instructor was not only incredibly professional, but also patient, friendly and motivating. The whole team made sure that I felt safe at all times, both in the pool and later in the open sea. The facilities were great and the dive sites we visited were cool - with a great variety of marine life. I can recommend Dive Centre Manly to everyone! Fantastic experience: Just finished two days open water training with Luke. Had a great two days, very informative, great training and fantastic experience. If you weren’t sure about something, Luke made sure you knew it before you continued on. he was great at explaining and demonstrating and making sure everyone was comfortable learning at their own pace. It really made my holiday as I got to see Sydney in a different point of view by going underwater.Highly recommend this company for any PADI training!

Fantastic experience: Booked guided dives on the Shelly Beach Manly site. Even though I was the only photographer in the group there was no conflict in pace with other divers. Everything was professional and well organised.

Fantastic experience: I had a fantastic experience doing two beautiful dives from Shelly Beach with Aaliyah. Everything was well-organized from start to finish. I arrived at the center at 10am for my booking, and they made sure we were all properly geared up. After a quick drive to the beach and a pre-dive briefing, we headed into the water. Aaliyah was wonderful, very patient and attentive with our group of seven, pointing out lots of cool things underwater. Both dives were about 45 minutes, and by 3pm, we were back on the beach wrapping up. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Great couple of dives - saw pretty much everything that got mentioned in the briefing, thanks to all the staff but especially Jack and Juliette who led the dive and looked after the group really well.

Fantastic experience: Amazing dive club with a warm staff, incredible facilities and fun programs- I definitely recommend it! I did the 2 day Open Water course led by Luke and had a brilliant time. Fantastic experience: I did the Underwater Photography Fundamentals Course, run by legend photographer Pete McGee, over the weekend. Brilliant course with the right mix of info/theory and on land demos plus two shore dives to put the classroom stuff into practice. Post dive each day we had the opportunity for Pete and the rest of the group to review our photos with feedback provided. Small group of four participants meant there was heaps of opportunity to bomb Pete with heaps of questions. Pete’s passion for underwater photography is obvious, he’s down to earth and teaches in a way that makes the content easy to understand and interesting. I highly recommend this course and I am hoping that Dive Centre Manly and Pete will be able to offer an advanced course in the future. Sign me up already!!

Fantastic experience: Just finished my open water certification with Jordan. He was an extremely good teacher, patient, happy to answer any questions, great at demonstrating skills and techniques. I would highly recommend Manly dive shop over all others in the area and if you can, ask to go on your course with Jordan. Thank you for a great experience

Fantastic experience: I did my open water certification with Dive center manly nearly a week ago and it was THE BEST! I have known dive center manly and Micheal who works there for a long time before getting my certification. the first time i tried i wasn't comfortable because i had a little incident in the pool which killed my confidence but i came back and did it. My instructors (Jordan and Fletch) were so nice and really helpful and i couldn't have wished for better instructors. We had 2 instructors to 3 students which meant lots of 1 on 1 help and guidance compared to Pro dive (eww) who had like 2 instructors to 14 students. If you are thinking of getting your OW at Dive centre manly you will not regret it, trust me :)

Fantastic experience: I did the Refresher Course with Dive Centre Manly on 4 October and I can't speak highly enough for how great the experience was. Lead by Jack, I was fitted with the gear, driven to the site, briefed fully and lead on 2 really great dives with a host of sea-life to see. Jack provided great guidance and assistance in brushing off the scuba cobwebs and I would recommend them highly!

Fantastic experience: Did my open water with Dive Centre Manly and am so grateful I did! Have since been diving in Thailand and was so appreciative of the skills they taught and drilled into us in the course, as I did quite a dangerous dive (didn’t know at the start) and I felt comfortable in my skill set and knew what to do in the case of an emergency! Many others had to leave the dive early who had not been trained properly. I also just did the dive trip to Fiji with them and it was INCREDIBLE! Cannot recommend enough, will be going back next year! The staff are so lovely, everyone’s very welcoming and highly trained. Highly recommend !!

Very good value for the level of instruction and equipment quality. Small class size ensured each student received detailed, personalised instruction. Course also gives free access to led scuba trips for a month after completion. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: amazing experience at the padi open water course. My instructor Jeeven (JJ) was incredible - so lovely and patient with me and my sisters who were beginners. We had so much fun at Shelly Beach and saw so many amazing animals, from sharks, to rays, to blue gropers! Highly highly reccommend.

Positive experience: The service team is friendly and helpful. Overall, it was an organised and good dive. However, the weather was bad hence the visibility under water isn’t great.. A bit disappointing.

Fantastic experience: Booked two days of guided dives through this group while we were out in Sydney and it was a great experience. The guides know what they are doing know the area and are just generally a delight to work with. I definitely recommend them if you’re considering a dive in the area.

I did my Open Water course with Fletcher, one of their instructors - he taught things calmly and reassured me when I was a little nervous. Fantastic experience: My teens learned to dive here and we just had two great guided dives in Cabbage Tree Bay. The marine park at Manly is better than when I first used to dive there +30 years ago. DCM makes it easier for short term visitors to get wet. These shallow shore dives had so much to see from abundant Port Jackson sharks, a Giant Wobbegong, cuttlefish, and a friendly Giant Blue Groper following us. Thank to all the team for a memorable day.

Fantastic experience: Outstanding dive company. Professional and helpful. They were able to get me into their shore dive for the next day after my other company canceled on me last minute. Looks like this worked out for the better anyways, would definitely dive with them again. Jimmy was a great divemaster and found us as much sea life as possible.

Fantastic experience: I've used DCM for years, and throughout all that time it's remained a great dive shop serving Sydney and the Northern beaches. I've done their guided shore dives, an overnight dive trip, and have rented and bought gear from them. The owner and staff are helpful, patient, and supportive. The gear has always been in great shape (both rental and purchased) and they are very ethical and safety-conscious when it comes to shore dives.. I've sent a few colleagues there for classes and they've also had a great time with their training. If you're local you can join their dive club and get in on some group activities. In any case, I definitely recommend dropping by Dive Centre Manly for your dive or gear needs!

Fantastic experience: Dives with John today were amazing. From the most spectacular ball of catfish on the sea grass to Basil the turtle the list of highlights was long. Wobbegong, giant cuttlefish, scorpion fish, fiddler rays, kingfish, eel, shrimp and nudibranch it was a day for the highlight reel. Good visibility and warm water were a bonus. Fantastic experience: Great 3 day dive course with Cameron! I am not used to writing reviews but need to let others know about this special instructor. I was a nervous first time diver , undertaking the course with my 12 year old son. Cameron dealt with my anxiety so well. There were several occasions that he needed to calm me down to continue with skills assessment. He has a way of inspiring confidence- even 8m underwater with only sign language and his reassuring eyes! All of this while keeping my active son safe and assessing other divers. He is calm, confident and funny. Not even a hail storm when packing up at the beach could dampen his spirits. Thank you so much for helping me continue and allowing me to now explore the world of diving.

Fantastic experience: I did my Open Water with Dive Centre Manly last week. It was a fantastic experience. The whole team was extremely friendly and professional, and managed to happily accommodate my tricky scheduling limitations. Marcos is a truly amazing instructor. He not only has extensive knowledge and experience, but the teaching talent and patience to impart it to a slightly nervous beginner. Cannot wait to get back in the water. Thanks everyone.

Fantastic experience: Amazing dive shop. The staff are excellent - friendly, courteous, and professional. Lisa was really helpful in handling enquiries and sharing information and I was extremely fortunate to have Marco as my dive instructor. Just a great guy. Cares a lot about diving and brings a really positive energy. We had a really amazing dive at Shelley Beach. The visibility was amazing, such an abundance of great marine life, and we were under water for close to an hour (with lots of oxygen to spare). As Marco pointed out, the dives are an opportunity to sort out correct weight, and when the weighting is off, it's really difficult to maintain buoyancy. He really helped sort out the correct weight - and what do you know... super easy diving. The best thing though - was the lack of ego. Just a love of diving, full support, and sharing the fun. 100% recommend Dive Centre Manly as a place to both learn to dive, and to go diving. Thank you all - what a contrast to the negative previous experience!

Fantastic experience: I did two shore dives with Dive Centre Manly. Overall a very good experience. Beginning with a warm welcome when entering the shop and a quick gear fitting. All the equipment was in good condition, and there was a wide enough selection to find a perfect fit for everything. Our guide John was very professional, and gave extensive briefings before each dive. He created a safe and relaxed atmosphere, which was a welcome state of mind as I don't have too much diving experience yet. The dive site at Fairlight was easy to approach and to get in and out of the water. Only negative thing was a relatively poor visibility, but it happens. I can warmly recommend Dive Centre Manly and most likely will use their services again myself.

Fantastic experience: I can't recommend highly enough the wonderful team at Dive Centre Manly. I had a nasty experience with a person in Newcastle, to the point where I was ready to give up on my dream of diving. Then I called Manly. Sweet Tate patiently listened to my experience and explained how the training should have been conducted. After her positive reassurance, I signed up. I received loads of information about the process and what to expect. On day one, I pushed through my anxiety and turned up to meet the endlessly patient Marcos, an amazingly passionate young man who, over two days, explained every single step, listened to our concerns and made the experience fun. To say it was a challenge would be a massive understatement for me but I did it. I’m now a certified diver and looking forward to exploring further. Very impressed with the organisation of everything, felt like all was in hand and thought about which made the dive experience very relaxing. Fantastic experience: I did a refresher dive course and 2 shore dives after a 25+ year break from diving with Manly Dive Centre whilst visiting family in Sydney. A big shout out to the lovely John, my instructor, who was very patient, encouraging and enthusiastic such that my initial nerves after such a long break were quickly quashed. Thanks so much. I’m very grateful. I had two great days and we saw loads of stuff despite a significant swell and moderate visibility. I also bought prescription goggles from the shop which made a huge difference. Looking forward to booking again when I return to Sydney to see the family next year.

Jeeven is the best instructor we could have possibly asked for. He teaches the course in a way that is informative and engaging yet still enjoyable. He helps build not only your skills as a diver but also your confidence. If you’re thinking at all about doing your AOW certification definitely do it at Dive Centre Manly and definitely do it with Jeeven you won’t be disappointed, can’t describe enough how much I loved it

Fantastic experience: I recently completed the PADI Divemaster course with Dive Centre Manly. The training and mentorship that I received was outstanding! I have never felt as confident in the water as I am now after participating in this course. Bill and the other staff have helped me learn the ins and outs of working in a dive centre and has ultimately led to me gaining a job within the industry! Dive centre Manly have continued to give me support after the completion of the course and have taken a lot of effort to build a relationship with myself and their customers! Fantastic experience: All credits to our guide John who went above and beyond to provide a great diving experience Although the diving conditions where a bit against us, he made a difference by being professional, knowledgable, easygoing and... competitive to find as much critters as possible and make the most of a dive. We saw heaps of beautiful local wildlife and had a great time. 3 very happy costumers. Part locals part travellers.

Fantastic experience: We did their Guided Snorkel today at Shelley Beach - outstanding! They made it all so easy - we got sorted with a wetsuit at the shop, then their van took us to Shelley (so glad we didnt have to find a park down, there - it was so packed!). Our tour guide was knowledgeable and patient with beginners, and we had a great time. We were in the water for 2 hours! Had a great time - thankyou Manly Dive Centre ..... highly recommend these guys if you are looking for a guided snorkel in this area.

Fantastic experience: Had my 26th birthday doing the Open Water dive course, the Dive Centre Manly team were exceptional in the delivery of the course while also maintaining the fun aspect! Can’t thank our instructor Cam Russell! Knowledge beyond belief and made you feel at ease when conducting skills. The whole team had energy and can’t thank them enough for making me love diving ! Fantastic experience: We had an excellent experience doing the Discover Scuba Dive. Marcus was a fantastic instructor and made my daughter and me very relaxed and comfortable. If you are interested in seeing what Scuba is all about, I thoroughly recommend you check it out and ask for Marcus.

Negative experience: FIRST AND LAST TIME I rented a wetsuit for 30$ which isn’t cheap, the wetsuit was all broken and that point wasn’t waterproof anymore. I was really disappointed, when I mentioned it they didn’t even apologize. This explain a lot to me.

Fantastic experience: Went on double guided shore dives with them two days in a row. I had a good time with experienced guides (Robin and John) and excellent service. I brought gear but everyone using rentals had no issues with fit or function. We were at Fairlight (they usually go to Shelly I believe) and saw lots of different wildlife I've never seen before. Water was 20-21c in Jan, I was cold but survived in a 2/3 mm Depth - mostly 6-8 meters Great for someone getting started like me as well as some others in the course doing informal refreshers, and the more experienced people saw sea life they'd never seen before too.

Fantastic experience: My daughter and I did a refresher dive 7th Jan 2024 with John, Four of us in the course. John was amazing. Made everyone feel safe and comfortable and turned a skill refresher course into a pleasurable experience as we mixed skill-building with sightseeing at Fairlight. Definitely recommend this refresher course and John as the instructor.

Fantastic experience: Great shore dive with Robin today at Shelley Beach

Negative experience: Found this company based om their good review in Google but unfortunately, my experience did not meet my expectations. My daughter and I signed up for the two-day Open Water Certification course, paying the required fees and eagerly looking forward to obtaining our certifications. Throughout the course, we followed the instructions provided by our instructor and worked diligently to complete each step to the best of our abilities. While we may not have been perfect, we made sure to repeat the exercises until receiving positive feedback or an "OK" from the instructor. To our surprise, upon completion of the course, we were awarded the Scuba Diver certification instead of the Open Water certification we had enrolled for. This outcome left us feeling unfairly treated and puzzled, as it contradicted the expectations we had when signing up for the course. Seeking clarification, I approached the instructor and inquired why we were not informed of any concerns during the training. However, instead of addressing my concerns, the instructor redirected me to speak with the shop, citing a heavy workload and lack of time to discuss the matter. Unfortunately, the shop manager's response was equally unsatisfactory, as he failed to provide a satisfactory answer to my question and merely offered apologies. It is disheartening when an establishment does not prioritize open communication and fails to inform students if they are not meeting expectations throughout the course. Had we been informed of any concerns or given the opportunity to improve, the experience could have been better, or we could have been provided with additional training time. People learn at different paces, and understanding this can greatly enhance the learning experience. In an attempt to rectify the situation, the dive store offered us the opportunity to continue our practice with them at no additional charge. However, as tourists in Sydney, this offer is unfortunately not a viable option for us, as our time in the area is limited. Moreover, their offer to practice further does not address the core issue, which is the lack of communication and fair assessment during the course. It is regrettable when an establishment prioritizes its own convenience over providing a positive and fulfilling experience to its customers. Money should not be the sole focus; the overall experience and customer satisfaction should be paramount. Unfortunately, this dive store seems to prioritize its standard protocols rather than addressing genuine concerns raised by its customers. In conclusion, I would like to express my disappointment with the overall experience with this shop. The lack of communication, unaddressed questions, and the inability to provide a satisfactory resolution have left me feeling dissatisfied. I hope that by sharing my experience, it will encourage the dive store to reflect on its practices and strive for improved customer service in the future, including addressing concerns during the course and providing appropriate guidance and support to students.

Fantastic experience: Had an amazing 3 Day PADI certification course with the Manly Dive Centre. The Shelly beach dive location , a nature reserve, is second to none for location species, variety. Our instructor Emma Werner was amazing , couldn’t recommend it more.

Fantastic experience: I just completed my Open Water and had Jeeven as my instructor. He was incredibly patient, always smiling and ensured we had a great time! If I was in Oz for longer I’d definitely be signing up for my Advanced but maybe will just have to come back some day when I’m a pro! Would highly recommend to anyone and will be passing the details on to friends of mine that life in Sydney.

Fantastic experience: Just completed the 2 day open water dive certificate. Very easy to book and the centre very helpful with what to do with the e learning. The trainer Alysha was exceptional, very informative and knowledgeable. She was clear in her demonstrations and delivered the course well ensuring that all participants understood her. I strongly recommend using Manly Dive centre for all your diving needs

Positive experience: Ive done my refresher with John divemaster and he was great. Looked after us very well, his instruction was clear. The staff at the store was also very friendly. The only reason Im not giving them 5 starts is because they charge 55$ dollars for shore dives while other dive centers run it for free. But still, great service from the guys in Manly.

Fantastic experience: Service at this place is second to none! Liz in the shop & instructor Michael were AWESOME! I dove 2 days in a row with them & had a blast. Michael was super patient and reassuring as I was nervous on the refresher course. Regained my confidence in no time :)

Fantastic experience: I’m so glad I chose dive centre manly for some fun dives, I had no idea there was so much marine life here and I was lucky enough to see it all! Julia and Geoff were great guides and staff in the shop were very helpful when booking in. The rental equipment was good quality and well maintained too. I’d dive with them again!

Fantastic experience: Staff at dive centre Manly were all super friendly and helpful. They helped us to plan a dive with an instructor even on a day that there were no regular dives planned. We had a great time at Shelly beach seeing lots of Port Jackson sharks, crested horn sharks, a wobbegong, 2 giant cuttlefish and lots more! Our guide Bill was real good as well.
