Fantastic experience: Our Roar Adventure organised by Julie was fantastic, well organised, ran to clockwork, accommodation was good, communication from first booking to starting the trip was comforting and informative. Would certainly use Roar Adventures for any future tours. Our trip to Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand was amazing, with a great mix of riding, sight seeing and boat trips and of course excellent food and accommodation. With each country we had new bikes, new guides and new culinary experiences. The guides were very flexible so that the needs of the group were able to be accommodated. I especially enjoyed our trip through Cambodia with Siem Reap including Angkor Wat. Our guide was very informative, read the needs of the group extremely well and was flexible regarding our needs. Our riding group consisted of 5 people, the youngest 52 and the oldest 80. So if you are thinking of doing a bike riding adventure I highly recommend Road Adventures, so don't just think about it, book it!

Fantastic experience: Booking a trip to a developing country can be a challenge. Roar made it a piece of cake. Paid by credit card in Australia dollars. Timely communication. Answered all queries promptly. And the trip!!! Cycling Mongolia were brilliant. And the cycling - unbelievable. Vast vistas, really friendly people. Our what’s app group is still sending each other pictures and videos. If you’re a cyclist you must do this. Book through Roar and it will happen

Fantastic experience: The trip was scenic, the staff was professional and easy to be with, andthe lodges were all very comfortable. The bike rides on days 3 and 4, were not very inspiring, but after that the scenery and the rides became steadily more spectacular, ending with Kruger Park and the Blyde River Canyon.

Fantastic experience: This trip was fantastic! We had a South-African guide all to ourselves. He was very knowledgeable and adapted each day according to our needs, food preferences and the weather! When we were flagging, he was there to shorten the cycling if we wanted, and swapped parts from his bike when one of my husband's brakes failed. He provided a fascinating insight into South Africa, with lots of information about the political situation, what life is really like for South-Africans and the animals and birds that we saw. The itinerary resulted in a good mix of cycling, sight-seeing and safari. The hotels were all fine. South Africa is stunning and the food and wine are excellent and cheap. It was a fabulous holiday!

Fantastic experience: Spice Roads and Roar Adventures did it again! We enjoyed our trip in the northeast of Thailand so signed up for the Mae Hong Son loop (northwest Thailand) and loved it too. Our guide, Game, with Oom and driver Fam were responsive and fun. Accommodation was ideal and the snacks and meals were just right. Thank you, Spice Roads and Roar.

Positive experience: My husband and I booked the Adventure South bike tour of New Zealand’s South Island in Jan/Feb 2024. It was a fabulous trip. It was challenging but enjoyable for both of us which is a goal for us as my husband is a better cyclist. We met great people from all over the world, cycled through wonderful scenery and had charming expert guides. Julie from Roar was very responsive and extremely helpful. Would highly recommend both the trip and Roar Adventures.

Fantastic experience: The headline is that Julie and Roar adventures did a phenomenal job helping us set up a one week bike trip on the ‘Great Taste Trail’ out of Nelson NZ. We are based in Boston (USA) and found Julie on line. She helped us coordinate a bike trip with a great local vendor in Nelson (Gentle Cycling—a strong recommendation there as well) that was customized specifically for us. There is a standard Great Taste Trail trip, but we made requests and Julie and the local provider came through in every respect. Between the beautiful rides, the wine tastings, the amazing Abel Tasman national park, and the great accomodations it was a spectacular trip. We’d love to do it again! Fantastic experience: We had an amazing 4 day trip with Aaron and he went out of his way to ensure that we had all that we needed. The riding was tailored to our needs, and he tried hard to accommodate our requests, whether it was for some surfing in the afternoon or yoga before riding in the morning. The scenery on the Great Ocean Road is amazing, a trip we won’t soon forget.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I wanted to go on an active trip over Christmas so I did a Google search. I came across Roar Adventures and found some interesting looking trips, including a bicycle tour of Cuba. I then reached out to Roar and was immediately contacted by Julie, a Roar travel agent, with whom we communicated from September through December. She was a very thoughtful, knowledgeable, and caring agent and helped us at every turn throughout the process of choosing to book the trip to Cuba and preparing for the trip. The trip was amazing and wonderful. The company that sponsored the tour was Exodus Travels. We couldn't recommend the guides and the itinerary, both the bicycling part and the cultural immersion part, including the local casas where we stayed, more highly. So, thank you Roar Adventures for helping us find a fantastic adventure over the holidays!!!

She made sure that I got the accommodations that I wanted and that I had the right trip for my interest. When I was in a pickle she unpickled me. Fantastic experience: Nine days is barely long enough to sample a tiny fraction of the history, culture, landscape that moulded the Baltic states. But cycling the back-roads, parkland paths and cobbled streets of medieval cities, especially with a well prepared and perceptive guide to coach you, is an exhilarating physical and mental challenge . The salt fish in the Kasmu fishers village, the remnants of invasion by the Teutonic knights (and the Swedes, the Danes the Poles , and the Germans, and, of course, Russia) have left indelible marks on the three tiny countries of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. But they have evolved into a tourist paradise, with superb ethnic and continental cuisine, modern hotels, great transportation, and impeccable restorations of island castles, like Trakai. The sand dunes and endless beaches, pine forests and the Witch Hill sculpture Garden are not to be missed. But be prepared for rabid ice hockey and basketball fans! Exodus delivered with their usual verve and high standards. Almost anyone can navigate the flat terrain, and e-bikes are available. Go for it!

Fantastic experience: Roar Adventures did an absolutely incredible job organizing our wonderful cycling trip to the Baltics with Exodus. Even tho we are in Vancouver - the other side of the world from Julie at Roar Adventures it was just like being next door - all our questions were answered promptly and all our issues were taken care of immediately. This is the second time we have entrusted Roar with our vacation and it will not be the last. I know everything will be looked after and even tho it is the middle of the night in Australia when I email from Vancouver - there is always an answer in the morning - incredible service and so much appreciated.

Fantastic experience: Travelling from the UK, we loved our West Coast Cycle Tour organised by Roar Adventures. The Beachfront Hotel inHokitika is absolutely lovely, genuinely, one of the nicer hotels I have ever stayed at, and I used to travel on business a lot all over the world. The Theatre Royal in Kumara is just about as quirky as they come, but really nice too. Your local cycle partner in Hokitika were brilliant and their whole team were friendly and professional. The timings and transfers worked perfectly, the bikes were very good and we just loved the WCW Trail. At your suggestion, we did the TreeTop Walkway and also enjoyed an excellent walking tour through Kumara Gorge. Topped off with that wonderful TransAlpine train journey; what an absolute delight. We found Roar to be friendly, flexible, always helpful and professional and would recomend them to anyone planning an adventure. Fab, all of it.

Fantastic experience: Living in England I wanted a tour to cover four weeks not too strenuous since I am nearly 80. I started looking in 2020 prior to covid and Julie at Roar had managed to cover the four weeks with three different shorter tours, After Covid she had to do it all again but she coped. I actually visited Australia in February 2023 and found the arrangements were excellent with only a couple of minor hiccups in the four weeks. The tours covered both coastal and inland areas and I thoroughly enjoyed them thanks to the efforts of Julie and her colleagues. One of the highlights was managing to catch a video of a Lyre bird having a bath.

Fantastic experience: Roar travel organised 2 cycle trips for us in New Zealand. They were informative, helpful and had some excellent ideas. Our trips were amazing! The Roar website was easy to use and very quick to responded. We will definitely be using them again.

Positive experience: This is a great way to see a different side of Victoria. The whole trip is perfectly organised; the cycling is very manageable (mostly downhill or flat - if you are at all worried get an ebike - my wife did!!‍♂️) the towns are attractive and steeped in gold mining history; and the winery tastings and lunch are excellent. A very worthwhile element of our trip from the UK and something a bit different from the usual tourist hot spots. Thanks very much Julie and the Roar team!

Fantastic experience: Roar Adventures provided good support and follow-up with the trip operator Spice Roads. Communicating with them was usually prompt and effective. They offered me a lower price for my trip than was available on Spice Roads' own website. I would use Roar Adventures again for another trip.

Fantastic experience: What an amazing experience! Our guides, Chris & Rich, were wonderful! They are both very supportive, encouraging, knowledgeable and were able to modify the trip as needed for weather, etc. The accommodations were very comfortable and most of the meals included were really good. Lots of follow up with tour company and my self to make it happen when my regular travel advisor told me the trip was fully booked. Fantastic experience: My sister and I recently booked a cycle trip with Roar in the South Island of NZ. Every aspect of the trip met our expectations. I rate Julie who managed our booking and the trip very highly. We cycled the combined Dunstan, Roxborough Gorge and Clutha Gold trails. One of the highlights was the jetboat ride connecting the unfinished section of the trail......very informative and we got to see the terrain from a different aspect.

Fantastic experience: We booked a bike tour in Turkey recently. Julie did a great job replying quickly to our customization requests (we added two extra leisure days to our trip). The tour itself went smoothly, we did enjoy gorgeous views of Aegean coast and nice villages along the road. Roar provided a dedicated English-speaking person available via chat messages and phone calls in Turkey time zone. We highly appreciated flexibility of that support: we requested for itinerary change a couple of times and every time with success. The only caveat is about the level of that tour. It was marked as "moderate" (2) in description, but in fact it's for experienced bikers. Slopes are very steep sometimes and pavement resembles wash boards, be careful! Overall, the tour was great and we recommend it for skilled bikers. Roar service was exceptionally good and reliable.

Fantastic experience: Julie and her team at Roar Adventures were at all times friendly, responsive, professional and creative with their planning. They helped us plan and manage a 5 day bike ride for 15 Starlight corporate partners which involved fundraising as well. The riders had a brilliant time and all were hugely appreciative of the time and effort that Julie and everyone at Roar Adventures put into our Tour de Kids Red Centre Ride.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic tour, excellent communication with Julie from planning until the start of our trip. Catherine was very helpful at the starting point and answered all our questions. Bikes were great, no problem. Found our routes with the odd glitch. ( GPS location for hotel in Cluny was wrong, also hotel at this location wasn't great). All in all a great trip!

Fantastic experience: We enjoyed the Riesling tour South Australia organised by Julie from Roar Adventures. The riding distances to selected tasting and lunch venues were well timed and we were expected and welcomed.The Riesling trail has many interesting historical plaques on route and trail is very well maintained, can recommend .

Fantastic experience: Tour was great leaders were awesome. It had snowed the night before on mt Wellington so we could only go half way as the road was closed. It is so cold descending the first section. Makes sure you are well prepared for the cold. Even though it was only half the descent it was still loads of fun. Our 14,15yr old girls loved it too.

Fantastic experience: From the first inquiry email that I sent, Julie became my coordinator. She was AMAZING, thorough and very transparent. We discussed a biking holiday and what experience I was wanting out of the holiday. Fantastic experience: We cannot speak highly enough about our experience with Roar Adventures who we booked 3 cycling tours with during our March 2020 New Zealand visit. As we are new to e-bike touring we had a lot of questions and some apprehensions as first time visitors to New Zealand. However, Julie, the excellent representative handling our tour bookings was amazing. Every question we had was answered as well as many we did not ask. This also included her sharing personal favourites and tips etc. No question was too small to ask and answers were received quickly in every case. The tour descriptions & details were accurate and well represented and the bookings/payments simple and straightforward. What we received on each of the tours was accurately described. Our experience with Roar Adventures exceeded our expectations. we plan to return to New Zealand (& Australia) and will use Roar Adventures again!

Fantastic experience: I have booked a 6 day tour in Vietnam with this company and I am super happy. I thought communication before, during and after the trip was absolutely perfect. the first day in hue, was well organized and gave me the chance to see interesting things. the guide was great, intelligent, well educated and with good english knowledge. it was a very good tour. then i landed in hanoi and a super smiling face was waiting for me at the airport to pick me up and take me to the hotel. Peter, the guide, was incredibly nice, intelligent and there for me every step of the way.he drove me to the hotel and picked me up the day after. i honestly dont know where to start telling about this experience... i dont think i’ve ever felt this great joy in my life. i was immersed in pure nature for three days. saw places where no tourist was to bee seen. had quite a hardcore bike tour which actually bonded me with peter quite a bit. we met incredible people and experienced things I didn't know there were. I was touched by his huge heart and constant motivation to make my tour special. he definitely understood what i wanted and picked incredibly beautiful places... he also adapted some things and added others just for the pleasure to share his country with me. I would recommend this company to everyone.

Fantastic experience: My sister and I booked a fabulous 2-week biking tour in SE Asia with Roar. They were a pleasure to work with. Their customer support is second to none. We had lots of questions and they were quick to answer — even on weekends. We asked for electric bikes — no one had requested them before — and they delivered. We had special hotel requests — and they delivered. I would highly recommend Roar Adventures to friends looking to include biking in their own travel adventures.

Fantastic experience: We did the e-bike tour of the Central Otago Rail Trail, South Island, NZ in November, 2019. Very well organized, good accommodation and the provided e-bikes were good. The optional excursions were also good, though the promised Jet Boat ride turned out to be a cruise down the Clutha river (very pleasant)

Fantastic experience: I met the owners of Roar several years running at a software conference and so I felt comfortable wiring in the full payment in advance of the trip, and I couldn't have been more pleased with how the entire thing went. Roar presented us with several options and we selected a custom bike tour on the south island of New Zealand in Central Otago. We were about 2 months out from peak season and many accommodations were already fully booked up. But they worked with our tour operator to find a way to make it all work. (Next time I'll try to book further in advance.) Our tour operator, Luxury Rail Trail Tours, picked us up and dropped us at our accommodations each day of the tour. My wife and I have 2 boys, aged 7 and 11. The older one is recovering from a broken arm and we felt more comfortable going with a tandem bike for him which worked out great. Also, we had the option to adjust the amount we biked each day on the fly. It was comforting to know that if we got tired or hit bad weather, we could request a pickup rather than being forced to bike to a specific destination. The rail trail was fabulous. It cut through rural farmland and was completed isolated from motorized traffic. Our 7 year old managed to bike the 90 or so miles over the 6 days with no issues as the trail was well maintained with only gradual grades up and down. The scenery was so memorable, and we really enjoyed the scale model of the solar system on the trail. We're done with vacations dominated by time in the car and in hotels. We're hooked on bike and adventures tours that involve exercise! The only thing I would do different would be to ask about any gratuity expectations before I submit payment so I could work that into the budget. Expectations vary and the only way to know you are meeting expectations is to ask and have an open conversation about it ahead of time.
