Autopia Tours Red Centre: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Thanks to Autopia and Mitch, my guide for the three-day tour between Uluru - Kata Tjuta - King's Canyon. Mitch was very friendly and helpful from the start; a pleasant interaction was immediately established, and he was very open to all the questions from the group. Very safety-conscious, but always ready to have fun and laugh with the group! In short, I can say he was a 10/10 guide. He took care of us as if he were part of the family! The food was very simple, especially the first two days, but very good! And plentiful. The final surprise was being able to taste kangaroo meat. The experience at the different campsites was also well organized and equipped with all amenities (toilets, showers, electricity, etc.). There were many breaks between the different roadhouses along the way, where everyone has their own story to tell. This part of Central Australia is also very interesting! Moreover, the hikes at Uluru, Kata Tjuta, and Kings Canyon are not easy but super fun. The sunset, sunrise, and various walks around the waterholes, paintings, animals, and plants are magnificent! I really feel lucky to have chosen this agency, but especially to have shared this wonderful adventure with extraordinary people in a country like Australia, which is unique in the world. Thank you for making me happy, guys. Keep up the good work! Thanks again to Mitch and the whole Autopia team.
Fantastic experience: Mitch was the best guide we could ask for this 3 day tour from Uluru to Kings Canyon. He knows and loves everything about these places, which makes it even easier to fall in love with them and to be fully immersed in the experience. He even managed to persuade me to sleep in a swag in the open in the literal middle of nowhere, and that says A LOT (it was so worth it). Kind, patient and optimistic no matter what, a very good driver and a professional. And if all of the above wasn't enough, I would sleep in the dirt and follow him across the desert again just to eat another plate of his veggie curry.
Fantastic experience: I’m a tour leader for an australian company and this is my 2nd tour with Autopia. This tour has just been amazing! It covers the main “to see” in the Northern Territory, including the real experience of sleeping in the middle of nowhere with all the comforts, all included food, drinks and comfy air conditioning vehicle. The best moment all over those three days? The sunset aperitif overlooking the Uluru changing is colour. Simply the best experience I have ever had, also thanks to Mitch. You can truly feel his real enthusiasm and passion for the nature and his own land, is smile has been contagious all over the trip, even at 3:30 in the morning with the right playlist to raise our spirits. An answer to every question, so patient and always bonding the group, caring about details and safety all along every walk. He’s just the best! Highly recommended
Fantastic experience: From the go, an absolute wild experience! First time we saw Mitch, he was wrestling a croc with one hand (humanely), whilst taking our luggage with the other. Mitch promised us an unreal, sunny, cultural experience. He succeeded on the most part, except for the biggest storm I’ve ever seen. He shielded all 19 guests under his metal umbrella, protecting us at all costs. His cooking was MITCHelin star, serving the best cheeky tikka we’ve ever had. Plenty of surreal hikes, hard for some, but Mitch went above and beyond, carrying 3 people up the mountain at once, to make it the best experience possible for them. We had a 3 hour drive down a bumpy dirt road, 30 minutes in, everyone was sore. So Mitch stopped and made some wings out of resources in the bush, gliding us over all future bumps. Best nap I’ve ever had. The camps were stunning. I tried my best to get Mitch to help scrub my back in the shower (that red dirt gets everywhere), but he remained extremely professional and told me to “SCRUB IT MYSELF”. This didn’t stop us from getting a glimpse of Mitch emerging from the sublime watering hole in his shiny yellow budgie smugglers which left nothing to the imagination. WHAT A TREAT, WHAT A TRIP, WHAT A GUY! MEMORIES CHERISHED FOREVER! All jokes aside, Mitch was extremely knowledgable and made the whole trip feel like a close friend showing us around something he’s extremely passionate about, the amazing nature and culture of the Aboriginal people of the area. One of the best experiences I’ve had, highly recommend to anyone seeking an authentic outback experience.
Fantastic experience: Thinking of booking with Autopia? Of quartz you should!! Don’t know much about the Red Centre? Not to quarry, Shearna went above and beyond to ensure we had a rockin good time. We seriously had a coal lotta fun. It’s all I can talc about. Shearna had us drinking loads of water in the desert heat but ensured we made plenty of stops at the facili-trees This special place holds so much sedimental value, I promise you won’t take it for granite.
Fantastic experience: Thanks to Autopia and Michael, my guide for the three day tour between Uluru - Kata Tjuta - Kings Canyon! I would first like to mention Michael, our tour guide. He was very friendly and helpful, right from the start of our tour. A nice interaction was immediately established and he was very open to any questions the group had. Very safety conscious, but still open to having fun and a few laughs with the group! In short, I can say that he was a 10/10 guide. He took care of us as if he was part of the family! The food was very simple, especially the first two days, but very good! The final surprise was where we were able to taste some camel/kangaroo meat and Francois famous curry! What can I say... simply spectacular. The experience at the various campsites was equally well organised and equipped with every facility (toilets, showers, electricity, etc.). Lots of breaks between various Roadhouses along the way, where each one has its own story to tell. This side of Central Australia is also very interesting! Also, no introduction is needed for Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon. The sunset, sunrise and the various walks through waterholes, paintings, animals and native plants are beautiful! I feel really lucky to have chosen this agency, but more importantly to have shared this wonderful adventure with amazing people and in a country like Australia, unique in the world. Thanks for making me happy guys. Keep up the good work! Thanks again to Michael, and to the whole Autopia team. A big hug, Daniele (from Sardinia)
Positive experience: Uluru, Kata Tjuta, and Kings Canyon are absolutely stunning and must be seen. The guides Damon and Jim were very knowledgeable, friendly, and took care of everything. So far, 5 stars. But here the accommodation is also rated, and it gets at most 2 stars. Both camps for the 3-day tour are not acceptable at all. The power supply hardly works. Orientation for getting dressed and undressed in the tent is only possible with a flashlight brought from home. 2 toilets for 22 guests. Paths are completely unlit. We had much better experiences with another tour operator.
Fantastic experience: I took the 4 day red centre tour recently and had a wonderful few days. Our tour guide Shearna was absolutely amazing and her knowledge of history, geology, indigenous culture were first rate. She was bubbly and enthusiastic despite the long days. She kept our group informed and updated during the trip. Her assistant Jimbo was a sheer delight
Fantastic experience: The best.Fantastic experience.Ticked all the boxes.Well informed.Interesting.Intense and I couldn’t go past it as the only way to experience Aboriginal heritage.Rhett our tour guide kept it together in what are extremely diverse conditions where disaster could tear the motor out in an instance.
Fantastic experience: Very good experience to discover the red centre of Australia with our guide-driver-cooker Sheana.
Fantastic experience: The best experience I’ve had in my life. I had a tour guide named Rhett Miller and he told us awesome stories about the aboriginal people and a lot of other things, I highly recommend this to other people and families with children because he makes sure that everyone’s included and safe.
Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful, unforgettable tour to the Tjoritja - West MacDonnell National Park ☀️ it was one of my best parts in Australia & I really recommend to book via Autopia I was really happy with my guide SHEARNA & want to say thank you for this gorgeous day
Fantastic experience: My family and I booked the Lake Mountain day trip. Our tour guide, Chris was amazing. His knowledge of the area and his easy going approach made our day that little bit extra fun. We would definitely travel with Autopia again.
Fantastic experience: We throughly enjoyed the tour with Rhett as our tour guide of the West MacDonald Ranges. Rhett is extremely knowledgable, passionate and respectful of the landscape and the indigenous people. Rhett was called in last minute for as a replacement to take us on our tour he had a relaxed and pleasant manner. We bought our own brekky at an Indigenous run cafe at Standley Chasm, Lunch was provided -salads, ham, chicken and wraps with homous, mustard, mayo, sauces etc and was fresh and we enjoyed it especially in the beautiful setting of Ellery Creek Big-hole. A day well worth it and very enjoyable day. Highly recommend Autopia Tours Red Centre - thanks for a lovely day
Fantastic experience: Great experience! I did the 3 day tour with Autopia. Rhett was our tour guide. The knowledge he shared was super informative. Thanks Rhett!
Fantastic experience: I embarked on a 4-day camping trip from Uluru to the West MacDonnell Ranges with Autopia Tours, a choice I couldn't be happier with. Their minibuses, complete with trailers, not only ensured the safety of our belongings but also featured GPS tracking for added security. The staff were beyond friendly and helpful, making airport pickups and even assisting with lost items after the trip—I'm especially thankful to Caitlin and Carla for retrieving my trekking pole. Darcy, our tour guide and driver, was a fantastic storyteller, brimming with local knowledge. He orchestrated every detail of our journey meticulously, allowing us to explore at our own pace without ever feeling rushed. His sharing of Australian slang and phrases added a unique touch, making the lengthy drive from Uluru to the West MacDonnell Ranges both educational and entertaining. The campsites were impressively set up, with permanent tents so cozy they made you forget you were camping in the Outback. For the more adventurous spirits interested in experiencing a night under a blanket of stars and the Milky Way, trying out a swag is a must—it's surprisingly comfortable. All things considered, I wholeheartedly recommend Autopia Tours for an unparalleled Australian Outback adventure.
Fantastic experience: Participating in the three-day, two-night journey was incredibly fulfilling. Due to a delay by Qantas, my parents missed a day of the itinerary, but our guide Damien took care of my late-arriving parents. At every scenic spot, he attentively and patiently catered to everyone's curiosity, simultaneously bridging the gap between local culture and multiculturalism, imparting cultural insights to us, the overseas visitors. My dad remarked, "We witnessed many unforgettable landscapes and experienced the beautiful emotions between people." My mom added, "It's my first time in Australia, and I felt the warmth of the Australians, enjoying a joyful journey."
Fantastic experience: I had the 3 day /2 nights trip booked and I have to say- it was the best thing I did in Australia! Very good tour guide, always concerned about our happiness, health and safety guided us through the best sights of the outback- my personal fav was to sleep in a swag under the stars (but also fixed tents options are available)! Highly recommend the tours and this very reliable company with great guides.
Fantastic experience: We (two parents and one adult child) had an amazing three nights and four days in the Red Centre. Our guide, Zephyr, was patient, helpful and informative. This was a 'bucket list' experience which we wholeheartedly recommend.
Fantastic experience: We had the 3-day Red Centre Tour. It was great! So nice places and beautiful spots. Our tour-guide Luke was awesome. We started early in the morning with him and could enjoy the sunrise in Kata Tutja and Kings Canyon with no other tourists. Thanks Luke! :-)
Fantastic experience: Enjoyed the 4 day camping tour of Uluru. Had a marvellous time camping under the stars, exploring so many exquisite spots of nature and having a laugh with the group! Everything was well organised from food, to sleeping arrangements. I also enjoyed the hands on experience, everyone pitched in gathering fire wood, washing dishes etc. Our tour guide, Damien was bloody awesome. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area, a great chef, he was also respectful of Indigenous Peoples culture, teaching us tourists what is and isn’t culturally appropriate. He was also able to flow with the mood of the group, allowing us to travel through at a bit of a slower pace to really soak up the gorgeous scenes. So impressed with the whole experience!
Fantastic experience: I joined the tour of West MacDonnell Range which was amazing. The driver and guide (Damien) was very professional and knowledgable about the places we visited.
Fantastic experience: Thank you so much Madi for this tour ! I really enjoyed this tour with you, thanks to your explications, your stories and your fun !
Fantastic experience: I did the 3 day/2 night tour and absolutely loved it. My tour guides Anna and Zephyr were fantastic. Anna is very knowledgeable, as she expanded on the history of the sites. I enjoyed her insights into the aboriginal culture, and amazing facts about the local flora and fauna. I loved Uluru, Kata Tjuta, and an unforgettable hike through Kings Canyon. The tour group did everything right, and I highly recommend this amazing adventure!
Fantastic experience: We did the 4 day tour. Damien had a phenomenal knowledge which he shared with us over the course of this amazing tour! Sleeping in the swags under the stars was simply fabulous. Thank you to both Damien and Zephyr for making this such a memorable and thoroughly enjoyable tour which I would highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: Did the 4 day 3 night tour from uluru to alice springs - could not recommend this tour highly enough, it was a once in a lifetime experience made even more memorable by fantastic tour guides Damien and Zephyr. Damien was extremely knowledgeable and his respect for aboriginal country, history and people was felt throughout the tour and was something that was important to me to feel aware of, learn about to respect appropriately whilst on sacred aboriginal country. Damien ensured all our questions were answered and made our trip really special. Zephyr was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna we saw and could answer all our questions about the outback and also ensured we all had a really memorable and special time. This tour allowed us to see all the main sights in the red centre and we would 100% recommend doing the 4 day tour as the West Macdonell ranges are not to be missed. Could not recommend Autopia any more highly - the small tour size was really valued and we would 100% use Autopia again in the future. Thank you so much for an incredible trip !
Fantastic experience: Did the 4 day uluru tour. Had an amazing time, every day was spectacular. The swag camping was really good fun and warm enough with the blankets. Damian and Zephyr were both amazing hosts - very knowledgeable and made sure everyone was having a great time throughout - they really made the tour. 10/10 experience - would recommend to anyone and use autopia again.
Fantastic experience: My wife and I did the 3 day tour. The tour guides were Damian and Ell (sorry if its spelled wrong) which did a very good job! We were a really small group (7 people) which was very nice. We had a lot of fun and saw a lot of different things. Damian had a huge knowledge and was happy to answer all our questions. The campsides were cool and sleeping in a swag under the stars and the moon was a real adventure. If you dont like that you can just book a tent, which have beds inside. We had cold and wet weather so I was happy about the sleeping bags they provided (there were no flies because of the coldness which was a big plus). I didn't like the many hours we sat in the "bus" driving but I guess if you do these kind of tours you have to live with it. Our tour guides tried to make it as fun as possible.
Fantastic experience: We did an amazing tour to the West Macdonnell Ranges with Adz. Very fun and comprehensive tour with a small group. Adz added a lot of valuable and meaningful stories to the commentary. Snacks available, nice sandwiches for lunch. Very friendly and Knowledgeable staff.
