Fantastic experience: The Hobart walking tour is a must. Arli's local insight and historical knowledge caters for all ages; kids and adults alike. Our 10 year daughter was just as engaged as the adults with his friendly interaction and fun presentation. Hobart is a wonderful place to visit and on the walking tour we learnt a lot about the city's fascinating and interesting history.

Fantastic experience: My parents and I joined the free walking tour while we were in Tasmania, and all we can say that it's a must-do as well! Ali, our guide, was so insightful not just to the history of Tasmania, but also to its culture today and the issues and insights that only the locals would really know and are experiencing. Finally, I recommend this for all ages since the path Ali took us on was a fairly easy walk and at a relaxed pace.

Fantastic experience: Ali did in amazing job, this tour was simply great! I did a very expensive tour 5 years ago which ran over 3.5h, but I had the feeling that Ali still managed to mention all the important bits in only half the time. Despite his announcement that he would not bore us with too much history, he provided enough history that even history-lovers such as myself were satisfied. Moreover, Ali could answer many questions regarding Hobart that went beyond the tour's contents and gave some great restaurant recommendations that I can confirm now. TL;DR look no further, if you spend at least one day in Hobart, do this tour. There is no better starting point.

Positive experience: Ali our Guide took us on an easy stroll from St Davids Park, through Battery Point and onto the Hobart Wharf all the while detailing the historic buildings and history of Hobart as well as pointing out his favourite eateries and coffee haunts. His fun and informative style kept our small group entertained and was educational as well. For anyone arriving in Hobart that has a spare two hours I thoroughly recommend taking this Two Hour Walk as it will provide you with a solid list of places to go as well as be a amazing introduction to Hobart and the warm welcoming people of Tasmania.

Fantastic experience: Can recommend; I've attended several walking tours and instead of throwing years, names and numbers at you, the guide Ali managed to pick the most important facts and pack them up in a way that is very entertaining :) it might be a little anti-european and especially anti-french so if you can't lough about jokes about France you maybe shouldn't attend :D

I was a Brisbane local travelling/backpacking around Tasmania and this was one of my first activities in Hobart. Ali, the tour guide has a wealth of knowledge in relation to Tasmania in relation to historical context of the city, great food or bar locations, places of interest or facts about other locations in Tasmania which will help enhance your Tasmania experience. Ali had a great manner during the tour and had a great understanding of historical knowledge and current contemporary issues in Hobart. TL;DR - Fantastic walking tour. Pay what you feel its worth and make this one of your first stops travelling/backpacking around Hobart!

Fantastic experience: It was great to join Ali on a tour around Salamanca and Battery Point on Australia day. Ali's approach and selection of stories are unique. He started with the first human settlement in Hobart and completed with the current issues. One thing Ali was definitely wrong about was coffee capital of Australia, that title rests with Melbourne (coming from a fellow Melburniun).

We were (in mid-Dec 2021) the first tour group in quite some time due to covid shutdowns in other states causing the tourism industry in Tasmania to largely grind to a halt. Two of the group cancelled at the last minute and two didn't show up. Notwithstanding that it was just my partner and I and he may well have wanted not to proceed, our guide Ali was fantastic. Lovely demeanour, very friendly, helpful and full of interesting info. Would highly recommend this tour. Bravo.

Maria showed us a number of sites, providing interesting commentary at each, complemented by her own tips on local restaurants, bars and cafes. Would recommend doing this at the start of your visit.

On hind sight, this tour is best attended your first day in Hobart. This will give you a good idea of where the best spots to revisit e.g. for a meal/to explore.
